Pretty much anything that gets baked gets dry, and anything dry can splinter. I like to play it safe. I mean, dogs have been around for a few zillion years before people were there to cut out animal bones, so I'm sure they're statistically fine -- but I've been trained to be ludicrously protective by my SPCA aunt, so I go overboard a little. And anyway better safe than sorry, right? Nothing lost nothing ventured, or something.
