    Football RP

    I am an American.

I am looking for someone interested in participating in a Football Role play. I will create a football team and someone else will create a football team. This will be non-canon RP based on the National Football League (NFL). I will be open to allow up to three color commentators who can post about the current game or even any others in the NFL. Commentators can talk about games that are currently playing or fictional games that are never to be played. Comentators will be original characters who may have actually played the game of football on one of the two teams playing or not; your call.

Whoever plays the football teams will limit their players to 53 active players. When we set up the OOC, I will ask for names/numbers of certain positions, just to get us started as well as the coaches. As you introduce players in the IC thread as either a ball carrier, making a block or tackle or doing something on the field, please update your team roster to show what position that player is playing.

We will take turns posting in the IC. I will introduce the game and post the coin toss and its outcome. Whoever is in offense, leads the round. They can write as much detail as they want about the players and the action in the game. The defender will then make a post and determine the outcome of the offense's attempts at gaining yards. The defender gets the luxury of saying Yes, the opposition picked up 3 yards on a running play, or 8 yards on a passing play or lost five yards from a sack. Remember, that once the ball changes hand, the other player gets the chance to stop your team. You can be generous or tight, your choice. What comes around goes around.

The color commentators can make comments whenever they feel like it.

The two teams that are playing against each other will start their post with the time on the clock, the score and team in possession of the ball. We'll make best guesses how long it takes to execute a play and then add :30 (thirty seconds) between plays to move thing along in order to resemble the time in the huddles. Once we get into the two minute warnings, time will slow down.

    Anyone up for some football?

I've updated the play resolution. Instead of the defensive team determining the outcome, we'll use random.org.

    Pass Completion
In determine the outcome of a pass, the offense, must state whether it is a short pass, medium pass or long pass. After determining which option, the offense player will go to Random.org/integers
Generate 1 random integer. Each integer should have a value between 1 and 100. Format in 1 column.

72% chance of success in a short pass - If the random integer is 1 - 72, the pass is complete.
62% chance of success in a medium pass - If the random integer is 1 - 62, the pass is complete.
54% chance of success in a long pass - If the random integer is 1 - 54, the pass is complete.

Any other outcome is an incomplete pass which has a 7% chance of interception. If the outcome is an incomplete pass, go to Random.org/integers
Generate 1 random integer. Each integer should have a value between 1 and 100. Format in 1 column.

If the outcome is 1 - 7, the pass was intercepted and turns over to the defensive team. Any other outcome, the ball is dead and returns to the line of scrimmage.

Length of Gain on a Pass
When the receiver successfully catches the ball he will travel a certain distance based on a dice roll.

To determine the distance the ball advances during a completed short pass, go to Random.org/integers
Generate 1 random integer. Each integer should have a value between 1 and 8. Format in 1 column. The integer given is the number of yards achieved on the play.

To determine the distance the ball advances during a completed medium pass, go to Random.org/integers
Generate 5 random integers. Each integer should have a value between 1 and 6. Format in 1 column. Add the five integers together to determine the number of yards achieved on the play.

To determine the distance the ball advances during a completed long pass, go to Random.org/integers
Generate 1 random integer. Each integer should have a value between 10 and 50. Format in 1 column. The integer given is the number of yards achieved on the play.

    Running Back Performance
Before determining how far the RB carries the ball, the offense must roll a chance for the ball being stripped at the line of scrimmage. Go to Random.org/integers
Generate 1 random integer. Each integer should have a value between 1 and 10. Format in 1 column. If the resulting integer is a 1, the ball is fumbled and turns over to the defense. If the resulting integer is 2 - 10, then roll again to determine distance gained.

To determine distance gained on the run, go to Random.org/integers
Generate 1 random integer. Each integer should have a value between 0 and 9. Format in 1 column. The resulting integer is the number of yards gained on the play.

    Punting

Let's assume that all punts travel 40 yards and the receiver downs it at the point of reception.

    Kicking

Let's assume all kickoffs result in ball placement at the 20 yard line.

    Field Goal/extra point attempts

All field goal attempts under 40 yards
The distance to the goal post from placement of the ball after the snap will determine chance of success. Subtract the distance from 100 and roll that number to determine if it was a successful kick.

Example: 35 yard field goal attempt = 65% chance of success. Roll a 65 or less to get it.

All field goal attempts over 40 yards
For field goal attempts over 40 yards subtract an additional 5% from each yard over 40 yards.

To determine the success of a field goal or extra point, go to Random.org/integers
Generate 1 random integer. Each integer should have a value between 1 and 100. Format in 1 column. The resulting integer will determine the success of the kick based on the distance to the goal posts.

distance to outcome chart in spoiler:
