[Lost in my Mind]

Name: Brian Collingwood

Age: 28

Appearance: Brian is relatively short for a man, his head just reaching the 5'8 mark, along with this he has a very small frame, weighing only 135 lbs. His studies have lead him to become very skinny, his ribs showing slightly against his skin when he is without a shirt. In his youth his hair had been ebony in color, now though his shoulder length locks are a bright silver. This coloration is also reflected within his eyes, they however take upon the tone of molten silver, seeming to flow around his dark pupils. Despite his almost sickly frame, those who gaze upon him often feel no pity, as he is vibrant when around people, his lips always stretched into a smile and bursting with laughter. His eyes however hold a hardness within them, always gazing at the world as a game, calculating how to best manipulate the pieces to his advantage.
Magical Abilities:

Telekinesis- Able to move objects with his mind alone. The heavier the object, and the further the distance he moves it increases the strain that is put onto both his mind and sanity.

Levitation- Able to lift himself into the air by focusing his mental magic to the soles of his feet. The longer he uses it, and the higher increases mental strain.

Illusion- Able to create images that are not there, or disguise things that are. The more difficult the illusion the more strain is produced.

Mental Domination- At the moment he is only able to dominate lesser minds, this form of psychic magic is the most dangerous to his sanity, causing the largest amount of deterioration.

History: Brian never knew his parents, both his mother and father had passed away shortly after his birth. At a young age he had already began showing signs of being a mage, objects that he wanted but were to high for him to reach would simply float to him. While he enjoyed this experience, it made it difficult to stay with a family, as they became terrified of the young boy. By the time he was 13 he had been with over 30 families, each one keeping him for a shorter amount of time. After being kicked out of his last family, having stayed with them for only a day, he was approached by a member of Magellan's School for the Gifted.

Almost as soon as Brian arrived at the school he made fast friends with Marcus, their relationship developing into that of siblings soon after. His first year of school flew by in a blur, as Marcus and himself caused mischief all year, pulling minor little pranks on the other students. While Brian had been the brains of the two, Marcus was a natural born instigator, and easily convinced Brian to go along with the fun. By the end of the year the two met Scar, and eagerly welcomed her into their ranks.

The three grew closer with each year, and by their third year Scar's younger brother Jon was welcomed into their group with open arms. In his fourth year Brian noticed his feelings for Scar shifting. He no longer saw her as a friend to pull off jokes with, but a woman that he could see himself being with. Soon after developing these feelings he noticed the looks Marcus gave her, and knew he felt the same way that Brian did. That was the point that they began to fall out, although initially undetectable even to them. He also saw the hatred that began to brew within Marcus's heart, and feared what his brother might end up doing. These thoughts and worries were eradicated with Jon's death, as sorrow gripped at Brian's heart. He slowly began to pull away from the other two, and even the faculty at the school, immersing himself in his studies. He convinced himself that if he could become more powerful, he could prevent more lives from being lost.

The final year brought even more tension between the trio, although Brian did not understand why at first. It finally became clear, one week before the graduation ceremony, when over half of the student body, Marcus and Scar included, rose up against the oppression of the school's restriction on Necromancery. The little socialization he had left broke apart as his two dearest friends left his side, and he took the last week to reflect realizing that the entire year Marcus had been attempting to bring Brian with them.

Forms of Magic

Elemental- All forms of magic involving the elements falls into this category. Wind, fire, water/ice, lightening, and stone. Elemental magic is broking into two categories.
Manipulation- Mage's who use elements in this manner manipulate the elements to create various things. The most common are weapons and armors, less common and more difficult is creating creatures out of these elements.
Wielders- Wielders use the elements in their pure form, and thus giving them longer range in general over manipulators. However this comes at the cost of less control. Once they have called forth the element in its unbound form they cannot direct it.

Most Elemental Mage's either use a combination of the two, allowing them to exercise control over the elements while still using them in their natural state, or focus solely on manipulation.

Druidic- Druids use their magic to manipulate nature, creating allies out of the flora and fauna of the world. They possess the ability to communicate with animals, and bring life to plants that were once dead. Most Druids are peaceful mage's, often living in the forests so that they can be closer to nature. They are taught that all life is precious, and killing should only be committed out of mercy, such as a circumstance in which an animal is already dying slowly.

Light- Light magic is very uncommon as it offers very little offensive possibilities. Mage's that use this magic are capable of creating light even in darkness, and can increase the intensity of it to the point of permanently blinding anyone who gazes into it. Usually a magic user would have this as a secondary skill, if they wanted it at all. Those who master it can bend the way light hits them, creating an invisibility effect.

Dark- Dark magic is very similar to that of light, only in reverse. Those who study this form of magic can create large area's of complete and utter darkness, creating temporary blindness for everyone in the area. Darkness created from this magic is the only form that cannot be lifted by the effects of a light mage, likewise darkness cannot be created if a light mage has already created light. Again this tends to be a secondary skill.

Psychic- Psychic magic, also known as the Mental magic, uses the mage's mind as a conduit. Levitation, telekinesis, telepathy, premonition, illusion, and mental domination all fall into this category. While this form of magic has the greatest potential, it also has the most dangerous side effects. Most magic can kill an individual if they try to use magic beyond their capabilities, Psychic mage's however slowly grow insane over time, regardless of how strong of magic they use, mental domination increases this deterioration more than any of the others.

Alteration- The ability to alter the physical properties of oneself fall into this category of magic. They can harden their bodies to the point that swords break upon contact, increase their mass enough that they cannot be moved, grant themselves gills so that they may breathe underwater, etc. Often this will be taken as a secondary skill to Elemental Manipulators, as Alteration is primarily a defensive/tactical form of magic.

Necromancery- The only form of magic that normal people think as of evil, Necromancery allows the mage to return a deceased individual's soul into their body. There are rumors that some Necromancers have dived deeper into this form of magic, and have found new ways to manipulate the dead, what this entails exactly no one is quite sure yet, research is being conducted at present.
