    Spring's Eternal Love

    Thud... Thud...! THUD!!!

The tall doors leading into the throne room echoed with the loud booms of a giant battering ram, smashing against the other side as the cries of barbaric soldiers were heard with each loud thud. The door held strong as the battering ram rang hard against it over and over again. The throne was the only place in the kingdom that had not been conquered yet. Soldiers from the kingdom waited inside along with the Queen as the invaders continue to try and break the doors down. Then after a few long moments of trying, the noises stopped. The large wooden beams holding the door close were barely cracked. It seemed as if the invaders had given up. Then an even louder thud cracked the door and nearly smashed through one of the beams. With the second thud, the first cracked in two, large hunks of wood hitting the floor. A small hold compared to the entire doors could be seen and for a moment, an iron clad fist could be seen disappearing through the hole just before slamming against another part of it and cracking the second beam until it broke in half as well. The door swung open fast as a dark figure appeared staring into the throne room, his followers pushing the large doors open as the battering ram sat behind him. Talonis Flont Nar'Bast took a few steps into the throne room and glared at the soldiers.

"You're kingdom has fallen under my rule now. It's time to choose now. Surrender... Or die."

Amara had stood still as stone, despite the fear that gripped her heart at the sounds that echoed outside. Her long auburn hair had been pinned neatly atop her head, held in place by the golden crown she wore, emerald eyes staring through the line of soldiers that guarded her with anxiety dancing in her forest-colored orbs. When at last the door gave way, she caught her breath at the towering dark figure who strode into the throne room, his voice echoing off the walls so that every soldier could hear. It sounded like a million swords being drawn at once as her men instantly prepared to defend themselves and their queen, but Amara would see no more blood shed in her behalf.

Lifting the edge of her white gown, she stepped from behind her men, golden sword resting in her left hand as she moved to stand before the conquering king. "Lower your weapons. I will see no more lives lost over such pettiness." she ordered, her men looking confused as they hesitantly obeyed her command. Her pale, delicate features stared up at the man who towered before her, unflinching in her resolve. "Join me for a walk, my lord. I have seen enough violence for one day. Perhaps we can come to a peaceful resolution." she suggested quietly, turning towards the corridor that would lead out into the quiet solitude of the palace gardens.

When at last they were alone, she took a seat on one of the ivory benches, her emerald eyes glancing up to him again. "I will surrender my throne to you, under the condition you promise the safety of my men and my people. Promise they will suffer no more at your hand, and the crown is yours. By law, I am your prisoner...so I leave my fate in your hands." she said quietly, lowering her gaze as she waited for his answer.

Talonis lifted a hand to calm his followers down as he left them to have a stare down with Queen Amara’s soldiers in the throne room. Silently he had allowed her to lead him into a secluded spot to negotiate surrender. In return, she had asked him to no long harm her people. He stood there looking down at her as she rested on the bench. His cold eyes gazed down into hers, almost right through her as he stood there in heavy, dark iron clad armor.

His sword hung behind him, a cloak wrapped around his neck draped his kingdom’s symbol behind him. He had dark grey like skin and his hair flowed like black fire. He looked down at her with burgundy crimson eyes. It was quiet at the moment. The battling outside of the castle had slowed to a halt, dead or capture soldiers lining the streets around the castle as they all waited for negotiations to seize.

“I will spare you kingdom, and make it part of my ever powerful empire. It will grow more powerful than it has ever been as well under… Both of our rule.”

His eyes seemed to glow from behind his bangs as he continued to speak.

“You’re kingdom is strong. It lasted longer than any other kingdoms that I had dominated in the past. So this shall be one of my empire capital cities. And to continue to hold complete allegiance to the throne…

    You shall become my bride…”

Amara's emerald eyes immediately shot up to look him in the face, disbelief sprawled across her own pale features. It took her a moment to regain her composure, but when she did she cleared her throat gently before speaking. "And if I should refuse?" she asked softly, her gaze hesitantly meeting his once more. Her stomach was in knots, and she felt sure her heart would give out any moment now. His words kept racing though her mind like a message played over and over; bride to a blood-thirsty monster! As if it weren't enough that he had already taken everything she loved, he had to take her as well!

She knew he could easily have chosen a worse fate for her; many royal women were often taken as slaves and wenches for the soldiers after being conquered. Still, she couldn't help the aching in her chest at the knowledge that her last dream was being shattered in a single blow; a dream of happiness and love and children, of a merry home full of laughter and joy...it had just been torn from her forever.

She didn't need to hear his answer to her question. She didn't want to know. "I will do as you ask, my lord." she said quietly, though this time she didn't meet his gaze as she got to her feet. "My councilors will see to the paperwork; you may discuss it with them. If you'll excuse me..." Amara's voice was barely above a whisper now, her heart heavy as she got to her feet. However, she refused to let her men see her cowering in defeat; raising her head high, she straightened her slender, curved frame and lifted the edge of her dress as she started to make her way up the stone path.

"Just one moment," Talonis said as he grabbed her arm unexpectedly. "We are doing the arrangement in a different manner."

Talonis raised his hand that was not gripping Amara's arm as a dark cloaked figure walked toward them, a hood covering their face. He nodded and slowly let go of Amara's arm and pointed at the figure.

"This will be your adviser. This person is here to help you with wedding arrangements and to better suit you for fitting my kingdom. They will also be watching over you, making sure that nothing goes wrong, and making sure that as long as you're away from me, you don't conspire against me."

The advisor walked over to Amara, dark shadow and clothed covering half of their face. They looked back at Talonis and nodded. Talonis turned away and stomped down the pathway leading back to the throne room. Back in the queen's main throne room, a large decorative seat had already been set next to hers for the new king. The soldiers were now unarmed, knowing that their battle had been ended a while ago. Talonis' major war officials sat at a table set up in the center of the room to negotiate new leadership in the conquered kingdom. Talonis walked in and sat down on his throne.

"Preparations for the wedding will begin tomorrow. Send all of our messengers back to base to bring the rest of our soldiers past the wall. Continue... Negotiations."

Talonis sat down and lead against one side of the chair staring at the crowd as they proceed to continue with what they had been conversing about. It was not a peaceful negotiation, but the soldiers of Amara's kingdom had no choice now, but to reason with Talonis' men as much as they could.

The hooded figure stood there quickly in front of Amara not speaking at all, as if waiting for the queen to speak first.
