There was an accident. A big one. The Seven Great Demon Lords, tired of Digimon being underrated by those cute little Pocket Monsters, tried to fire up Yggdrasil and erase Pokémon from memory. But the Royal Knights, guardians of truth and justice, recognized that a world without Pokémon wouldn't be quite the same, and tried to stop them. The clash brought both the human and the Digital Worlds to the brink of ruin, but when the smoke cleared, the good guys won.

Only there was one unintentional consequence neither side wanted. In order to save both worlds, the Olympus Twelve converted the destructive energy into something productive. Which made Pokémon as real as Digital Monsters…

Don't worry, I have a feeling there will be a lot more Pokémon trainers than Digidestined, and since Pokémon trainers get 6 Pokémon and Digidestined only get 1 Digimon, Digimon will be easily outnumbered.
