Viskev. Planet Viskev is a massive, "partially-habitable" planet orbiting the class-A star known as Vejn (Pronounced like "vain"). Viskev is tidally-locked to Vejn, which would normally result in a planet uninhabitable apart from a small "twilight band", but Viskev is an exception. On Viskev‘s dark side, a massive, volcanically-warmed rift known as the Hajnyt Levyt (Valley of Life, or Life-Valley.) offers an area one-quarter the surface area of planet Mars to harbor life.
Planet Viskev's surface gravity is well over 10g. Because of their evolution on such a massive world, viskevans would, in their natural state, would be unable to survive on the vast majority of terrestrial worlds. This crippling situation resulted in the viskevans becoming cognizant early on that they would have to drastically alter their biology in order to survive in space.
Because Viskev's habitable area is so miniscule despite its enormous diameter, competition for resources was a major driving force in the viskevans's early wars.

Today it's population is the highest of any world in the unity. The luminosity of the night side rivals that of the day side's when viewed from space. The history of planet Viskev is marred by war and genocide. For the vast majority of their history, the viskevans were an insatiably-violent people and wrought chaos and death upon their hellish world. At least two extinction-level events caused by wars have shaped Viskev‘s biosphere and at one point in their history only three ethnic groups existed due to commonplace genocide. Over time, it became increasingly obvious that the viskevans must change or render themselves extinct. It is from this gruesome past that gave rise to the nonviolent, scientific viskevan society of today.

Outwardly, viskevans resemble albino humans with four arms and two opposable thumbs on either side of each hand with innumerable cybernetic components plainly visible.
The viskevans were once a fully-organic species just as most other races, however those days are long past.
The original genome of the viskevan species was based upon adaptability at any cost. Because of wild temperature variation in their volcanically-warmed home, viskevans would grow or lose a fur coat depending on prolonged ambient temperatures. They were also highly omnivorous bordering on lithovorous. They possessed two complete rows of teeth, one for meat and one for plants and were even capable of limited digestion of certain rocks and metals despite lacking the ability to chew it.
Living in a sunless environment, their eyes were not simply reflective but possessed bioluminescent irises. The cybernetic eyes of modern viskevans are often lit to emulate this effect in the modern day. Because plant life on Viskev is thermosynthetic rather than photosynthetic, ancient viskevans saw in the infrared spectrum rather than the common human visible range. Modern viskevans can perceive all radiation.
The modern viskevan is, however, a vastly different animal. Genetic engineering and cybernetics have resulted in an entirely new species coming into existence. All modern viskevans are endowed with innumerable enhancements including, but not limited to:
-A quantum computer replacing most of the brain.
-Strong bones made of lightweight carbon fiber.
-Dense, fibrous skin capable of insulating a viskevan from vacuum for a very limited time and absorbing sunlight for limited "photosynthesis".
-Sensory organs far surpassing that of any organic, including the ability to perceive radiation of any wavelength.
-Networking capabilities.
-Strength, speed, and agility surpassing that of any organic.
Because these improvements are part of the viskevan genome, not crudely grafted onto the body, viskevans require massive caloric intake incapable of being sated by any naturally-occurring source, thus, they are reliant on specially-created "super-foods".
Viskevans originally reproduced via budding, however, that capability has been totally removed from their genome, and new viskevans are now genetically engineered. As such, viskevans are also reliant upon their cloning facilities for reproduction.

While all viskevans are individuals, all are insatiably curious and often spend their lives devoted to scientific pursuits, even if it is not their career.
In stark contrast to their ancient ancestors, viskevans are not prone to violence, and the thought typically does not even enter into their though process.

Viskevans have very recently developed "mind uploading" technology. This allows for a form of immortality, although the long term effects have yet to be seen. The average viskevan body lives for about 210 Earth years as a result of their advanced medical technology.

While there are numerous viskevan languages, most viskevans use their networking capabilities to communicate ideas directly to the brains of others, without the need to translate their thought into clumsy linguistic verbiage. Written language, however, still sees widespread use.
Virtually all modern viskevans speak Calizan, a northern Fautiv-Rejstikan language originating in Calizia. Calizan has only one plosive consonant, [k], the lack of plosives being a trait common to Fautiv-Rejstikan languages. Like most other languages of its family, Calizan has three grammatical genders: (which do not correspond to biological sexes due the viskevans' asexuality) person, animal, and object. Although religiosity has reached its lowest point in recorded history, the largest viskevan religion, by far, remains the Hávuj faith, a polytheistic religion originating in ancient Telven. It's main deities are as follows:
-Vajzen- God/dess of science, learning, wisdom, and knowledge. Vajzen is widely considered the "primary" Hávuj deity, and its practitioners direct the majority of their their prayers to It. Shrines to Vajzen can be found in most viskevan cities and It is the deity most commonly associated with the religion.
-Hauk- God/dess of plague, pestilence, nature, and death. Hauk often stands opposed to Vajzen and Its name is commonly used as a curse word in modern Calizan irrespective of the speaker's own religious beliefs.
-Uxej- God/dess of volcanism, the moons, water, and the hunt. Uxej is regarded as the bringer of life and banisher of death. Like Vajzen, Uxej often stands in direct opposition to Hauk and in defence of viskevans. Soldiers often prayed to Uxej before battles.
-Cifil- God/dess of hate, love, war, and peace. Cifil is regarded as unpredictable, but powerful, controlling the emotions that drive all animals' lives. Some seek Vajzen's protection from Cifil, while others seek blessings in the form of happiness or joy.
There many more minor Hávuj deities not listed. The freedom of religion is protected by Unity law.

Because viskevans evolved in an environment devoid of sunlight, viskevan symbology is often the "reverse" of what is seen in contemporary Western culture, especially regarding light and dark. For example, the light represents the unknown and danger, while the darkness represents comfort and security.
Scientists and inventors possess high social standing in viskevan society. They are considered the shepherds of society in control of its direction. Most viskevans aspire to such a position.
Viskevans also place high value on art in all forms. Viskevan art is unique due to their abnormal view of the universe, their harsh evolution, past, and logical, concise thought patterns.
The rapidly-approaching Singularity has, as one would expect, a profound influence on viskevan culture. The distinction between organic and non-organic materials has long since become so arbitrary as to be non-existent in the mind of most viskevans. Not only is their technology made partially, and in some cases mostly, out of organic materials, but they themselves are now comprised of just much non-organic materials.
The idea of becoming one with their technology is beginning to gain widespread acceptance.

Okay, I misunderstood the idea there. Influence is 56, they won't be well known to start with, as they haven't made first contact, but it's not in their nature to keep their existence a secret, they're gonna try to study everything. If you think Doctor Blood's society can coexist with mine, then I suppose sector 45 or 46 will work, whichever isn't taken (it's hard to tell what is and what isn't in this thread). If we're picking colours again, then the game green as my avatar would be nice.

You can ask about it to make sure. Doctor Blood was just kind of alone out there and seemed like his people would seem friendly enough to them, but you can always ask about it to be sure. I'll put you down as 45 and 46, but keep in mind that anyone can change their mind and move to an unclaimed sector before the IC starts. To tell what's free, any sector without a colored square inside it is free to claim. I'll have an updated map in my first post to make it easier to find.

History- at one point, they were one with the Humans, however, a Colony-ship got lost in a Worm-hole and came out in unknown space. they then spent the next 200 years trying to get back to earth, however, they visited a planet called Skillia that was under a plague, most of the inhabitants had been wiped out, the uninfected were allowed on the ship and over the following century, their DNA spread throughout the humans. they developed blue skin like the Skillians and eventually took the name for themselves, however the Plague was not only effecting the Skillians, races such as the Kenris (an Insectoid race), the Mog (a Reptilian race) and the Levitin (a Feline race.) escape ships from those worlds joined the Skillians and they they made their way towards Earth with them. eventually, they were running low on Fuel and recourses, and as such, they found a system that was rich in minerals fit for the founding of a Nation, Proxima Centauri, and founded the Empire of Brittany (after the name of the Colony ship, the U.S.S. Brittany). they have had several wars with encroaching Races, most prominently with the Triffars, a Parasitic Plant race that threatened to wipe out the entire Empire. apart from the Triffars, no invading force has made it past the Gate of Proxima.

Information- a Military structure with a lot of history, originally, the Mog were completely in charge of the military, with the Kenris in charge of weapns development, but when the Triffars came, it was made necessary to start accepting other species into the Military.
Recruitment- 100% (This is due to everyone having to serve at least 6 months of Military service when they come of age. after which, they are let go to pursue any career they so choose)
Size-4 Billion (with an extra 10 billion in reserve)
Structure- At the top is the Grand General (in charge of the Army) Grand Admiral (in charge of the Space Forces) and Grand Marshal (in charge of Planet-side Air Force and Navy)
Bellow them are the Generals, Admirals and Marshals. then below them is the standard "Captain, Sergeant, Sergeant-Major, Major, Corporal, Private" system.

Originally, there was standard military units, however, after the introduction of Mechs, their sheer numbers were no longer really needed, Standard Soldiers were phased out in favor of Marines.
Skillian/Levinti Commando armor:

These Marines are well trained for performing any task that Mechs are too big for, or not stealthy enough for. They recently got a big help from the introduction of Combat Drones.
Sigma-Class Drone:
The Sigma-Class Combat Drone is a fully automated combat robot that can be equiped with a multitude of weapons, including Chain-guns, Laser Cannons, Rocket Launchers and Flamethrowers. though effective, cannot perform very effectively by itself. due to lack of proper intelligence, they can easily be outsmarted. they have also been equiped with a Manual control device, so that mission control can take control of them if need be.
Beetle-Class Combat Drone:
The Beetle-Class was built as a Kenris combat suit. and though it can still function as one, the Drone varient has been programmed to function without a pilot. it is incredibly versatile, and whereas the Sigma's rely more on their heavy armor to protect them, the Beetles use their agility to dodge enemy fire, as well as climb much easier. They are equipped with silenced machine-guns and grenade launchers, rocket pods, as well as several blades for melee combat and claws that work as hands that can be used for carrying things and assisting in building in repairing larger vehicles and buildings. Unfortunately, their mobility comes at the price of their armor thickness. so they won't be able to take as many hits.
The Royal Navy's personnel is made up of professionals of their trade, Tactical personnel, Security personnel, engineering personel, etc. but they are all have their side-arms with them at all times, and when Red Alert is sounded, a lot of Personnel will run to the closest armory to grab a Rifle.
also, most ships have a complement of Marines onboard.
these are power-armoured super-soldiers, only the best of the best of the Royal Marines are allowed to take the Super-soldier formula and wear the ceremonial Power armour these each of them are about 8 foot tall and wield long bardiche's as well as the wrist mounted Fully-automatic lasers.

YX-27 Lance-Rifle
used primarily by the Commando's these work as the Melee weapons of the Commando's, with a Semi-automatic laser Rifle built into the top of it, the Rifle, however, is only accurate at Short-Medium range. SN-18 Assault Rifle
a fully automatic laser rifle. this is a weapon used by the Marines. it has a secondary pump-action slot underneith the main barrel that fires both grenades and shotgun rounds, effective at Medium-Long range SN-71 Rocket Launcher
a double barreled Rocket Launcher used by the Army for tank-busting. the shells use the same explosives as the Hornet Bombers, but with a smaller yeild, but will blow most armour wide open. SN-52 Gatling
this Gatling gun fires roughly 2000 laser rounds per minute, it chews up it's power cell quickly, but chews through enemy units even quicker. SN-32 Flame-unit
a Flame-thrower created for use against the empires old enemy, the Triffars, now used generally in anti-bacterial warfare. KB-75 Shotgun
the KB-75 was based on the effectiveness of the shotgun feature of the SN-18, however, has become it's own stand-alone weapon, it is a semi-automatic, laser-shotgun, with a folding stock. exceedingly powerful at close range.
Bear-Class ground assault mech:
standing at 30 feet tall, this Mech is a ground fighter, capable of enforcing dominance over the ground. cheap and quick to produce, these mechs have given the Empire a reputation as capable ground fighters. they are capable of being equiped with machine-guns, laser cannons and long range artillery cannons.
Falcon-Class Ground/Space fighter mech:
a mech for use in space, can transform into a fighter-like form and back again, used mainly as anti-capitol ship weapon. but works well against fighters they are also used inside of atmospheres as anti-tank mechs. it is mounted with a laser cannon of a slightly smaller caliber to the main cannons mounted onto the Empires Tiger-Class Battleships, this makes its cannon easy to dodge for any fast craft, life a Fighter.
Shark-Class Aquatic Fighter/Repair Mech
this is a Mech built to be used when an enemy of the empire tries to hide underwater. with it's grappler arms, it can rip apart most aquatic vehicles. it is also armed with torpedoes and Aqua-lasers making it deadly at both close and long range. it's arms are also used for repairing space-ships when they make ocean-fall.
Tiger-Class:
the backbone of the Navy, well armed and well armoured boasting 8 forward laser-cannons, 3 aft laser cannons and AA guns all over the ship. a very versatile ship capable of doing most jobs.
Tortoise-class destroyer:
tough outershell, but slow and medium armaments
Lion-class Dreadernought:
the freaky offspring of a Juggernaut and a Dreadnought, these are the biggest ships in the Brittany Navy and are not to be triffled with, roughly 9 miles long with Primary, Secondary and Thirdary shielding, cannons all over the ship and a super Positron cannon at the front as well as being able to carry over 1200 Fighters and Mech's, these are ships which even the older races fear. however, due to their size and the amount of Crewers needed. only 1 of these exists, which protects the Homeworld.
Orca-Class Carrier:
a mass of AA guns and hangars. can carry 200 fighters, mech's and gunships. no anti-capitol ship weapons
Hawk-Class rapid attack gunboat:
the Hawk is equipped with powerful forward shields and batteries, the rear however is reletivly unguarded.
Dove-Class Medical Frigate/Hive ships
the Dove is a ship class built to take aid to where it is needed. it was originally of Kenris design as a Warship but was converted as the Empire had no such ship and it was needed, it is about a mile long as it is built to render aid on a planetary scale. these are also used as Hive ships, the vessels used the Kenris to transport their Queen and her Hatchery, however, the hive-ship is heavily armed and armoured with heavy shields, however, her Medical variant has much less weaponry.
Wasp-Class Interceptor:
fast and able to fly with fusalage facing any direction, weapons are only good against other Fighters, however is able to easily run rings around most other fighters.
Hornet-Class Heavy fighter:
more heavily armed than Wasp's as well as having more armor and a stronger shield generator, but not as fast. These serve as the Empires bombers.
Fox-Class attack-fighter:
the fastest fighter in the fleet. boasting 2 forward mounted laser cannons and engines that allow it to travel faster than any other fighter in the fleet. It is also equipped with G-Defusers, allowing for no speed-loss inside of an atmosphere, built for dodging AA guns and delivering a bit of damage, it can also be equipped with missiles. Though it is faster in a straight line than the Wasps, unlike the Wasps, it is only capable of flying with the Fuselage facing forwards.
Peregrin-Class Gunship
Heavily armed, Heavily armored and Fast, can be used both inside and outside of an atmosphere, they are mainly used for boarding and ground assaults, can carry a squad of Marines. is submersible.

Physiology- Large and reptilian, they are cold blooded and have extra-thick bones as well as thick scaly skin.
Personality- Tend to be more aggressive than other humanoids.
Lifespan/Birth/Aging- 14 month Gestation period, they reach full maturity around 18 years of age and live for approximately 120 years.

Culture- the Mog culture is one focused around strength and hunting, their religion is focused around them, their festivals are focused around them. they are originally from the same planet as the Levinti, which is why they share a very similar culture.

Advantage Traits- advanced physiology (they can see in the dark, their hearing, smell, taste and touch is all much sharper than others, their muscles also grow at an accelerated rate. unlike other species, they can grow back lost limbs)
Cunning (having evolved from Predatorial creatures, their brains specially adapted to be better hunters, as such, they are better at making tactical decisions and thinking up ambushes.)
Disadvantage Traits- slow learners (their brains are slightly smaller than most other Humanoids, so they cannot process information as quickly as others.)

(makes up 93% of the Kenris, they are the working class, the scientists and builders of the Kenris. a few of them work as Pilots.)
Warriors:
(in an attempt to create a more warrior like Kenris, these were developed using Levinti DNA, they have Outer-shells that are strong enough to withstand small-arms fire, can run at roughly 40MPH and can jump almost 10 foot in the air, from running. they make up 6% of the Kenris population, they are the Police of the Empire and the Kenris' Commando's in the army. with roughly 80% of them being Police.)
Paetorian:
(These are built for one purpose and one purpose only, protect the Queen, they are 12 foot tall, armor-plated Killing machines with no sense of mercy. If the queen feels threatened, they will not hesitate to rip any intruder limb from limb, they cannot be bartered or reasoned with, the only way to escape, flush yourself out of an airlock, at least you'll get a nice view before your blood boils and head explodes... trust me, some of the stories that are circulating make it sound like that is the preferred way to go. only about 150 of these exist at a time, and patrol the hive-ships, as well as the Royal palace.)

the Kenris have 2 kinds of females
Queen
(the only Females are the Queens, like most Insectoid races the Females are really only for Breeding. at the beginning of the Empire, the Queens all looked like giant ant-queens, however, it was the Kenris' wish to look more Humanoid to be more accepted in the Empire, as such, the Skillian Emperoress Theadora II gave a part of her DNA to be used to breed the next Kenris Queen and she came out looking a lot more Humanoid. she represents the Skillian interests in Parliament.)
Hatcher Queen
(Though the main queen looks more humanoid, they still needed a queen to lay the eggs for the Kenris. only about 5 of these exist. each, aboard a Hive-ship.)
Physiology- each different kind of Kenris has a different Physiology, see Appearance for a full description. they all share a Hive-Mind, so all of them know what every other one is thinking.
Personality- The Kenris Workers all tend to be submissive towards other beings in the empire. the Warriors are more tactical creatures, tending only to speak when spoken to, very focused on getting their job done and the Praetorians... they kill things they don't like... that's about it. the Queens speak and act like most individuals and the Hatcher Queens tend to not speak to anyone.
Lifespan/Birth/Aging- the queen lays an egg every 5 seconds and each of the Kenris Males lives for about 5 years, except for the Praetorians... they don't seem to die... ever... whereas the females have a lifespan of about 10 years.
Language- Kenrisian (their voice-boxes aren't able to make the sounds necessary to talk in any recognized form of language, so they each have special machines fitted around their necks, that translate the clicking sounds of their language into english, or any other kind of language that they wish.)
Religion- none
Culture- they are a hive minded species, so they are a minimalist culture, building only what they need

Advantage Traits-
Hive Minded (they know everything that every single other Kenris knows and tend to act based on that knowledge. the Hatcher Queens act as central hubs, directing the flow of mental traffic faster than any computer could possibly fathom. which is why they don't tend to speak.)
Disadvantage Traits- Divided they fall (Kenris Males cannot think for themselves. they require their queen to tell them everything. if their telepathic contact with the queen is severed, then they will just sit there and do nothing, they will not even eat or drink, they just wait until death takes them.)

better known in the west as Star-Blazers. personally i think that quality of the Star-Blazers dub was horrific even by 1985 standards. even though Space Pirate Captain Harlock was dubbed at the same time and was so good that i think it's better than the original. a cult classic, it is Japans answer to Star Trek.
