    Anywhere forested would be lovely.

Also, would you guys like me to make a chatzy for this roleplay? That way we could all communicate OOC instantly.
Not sure if you meant to use "your" or "you're"?

Erm, not really, in that you don't need an account or anything. It's more like an IRC.

Race Name: Arevanian, though they are occasionally called "Cloven" (neutral) or "Hoof-feet" (derogatory).

Physical: The Arevanians are an unremarkable race; they are generally shorter than average, standing at around 5'6", and are less brawny than the average human. Their skin is an olive color, sprung from their ages on the sunny penninsula that they call home. Their eyes can vary in color but are generally brown, hazel, or green. A blue-eyed Arevanian is generally one with either magical ability or mixed heritage. They have large, hooked noses and their hair is invariably straight and traditionally cut short. The only truly distinguishing factor about their appearance is the fact that their feet are replaced by cloven hooves--their legs resemble humans', but their feet are furry and hooved. They are relatively long-lived and the average life expectancy is 170 years.

Magical: The Arevanians are generally abivalent toward magic; few are born with the ability to do so, and ritualism is only encouraged in clerical schools and other religious institutions. Those who are born with the innate ability to perform magic, however, are put in high regard indeed.

    Nation Name: The Altorian Republic

Leaders: The Senate, made up of 200 aristocrats and 200 laymen. The Senate's highest position is consular, which is held by Titus Ulpius and Publius Ditherius.

Titus Ulpius: Ulpius is one of the shrewdest politicians in the entire Republic. His skill in battle--both as a combatant and a commander--is legendary, as is his speaking ability and piety. He is self-described to be "a man of the people," and his exploits of kindness are also legendary amond the populace... and the Senate. He is widely hated by his peers, but they have no choice but to accept him because of is lawfulness and piety. In truth, however, he is not pious; he cares little for the favor of the gods, though he does still put on a good show for his people, and the gods haven't struck him down yet. He helped conquer the northern portion of the Cloven Penninsula, which is currently rebelling, claiming its supposed right to be an independent state and separate from the Republic.

Publius Ditherius: Once an ally of Ulpius, Ditherius is now on less friendly terms. He sees him as ambitious, self-serving, and far too powerful. Ditherius is much more conservative, and he blends with the Senate class much better.

Population: Roughly 40,000, around 12,000 in urban areas and the rest keeping small farms. A few aristocrats own huge farms, but most keep to the cities.

    Races: 97% Arevanian, 3% Other

Capital: Altorum, the largest city of the Republic with around 4,000 people. The buildings are generally made of concrete bricks, with the roofs being made of either wood or clay shingles.

Starting Area: The Cloven Penninsula, a temperate penninsula that was once drawn to look like a hoof by mapmakers. Though this is now recognized as an egregious error, the name stuck. Farmland is good, and agriculture is what brings in the majority of trade within the penninsula. The northernmost section is covered in snow-capped mountains, called the Bushback Range, as it is known for the poisonous berry bushes that grow along its many ridges.

Government: A Republic, ruled by the Senate. The Senate is divided into several tiers; these are:

    1. Laymen's Council: the lowest rank in the Senate, these men are elected by the people. They report to Altorum for bi-monthly meetings and decisions made by them must be ratified by at least two other tiers.
    2. Main Body: usually just called "the Senate," these men are aristocrats. They are drawn from the highest elite in the Republic, and often are terrible politicians but simply have a territorial claim or ancient title passed down to them.
    3. Praetors: these men are a part of the Senate, but are elected by their peers to govern taxes, the courts, and the police force.
    4. Pontifexes: Religious leaders, in charge of cleaning the temples, supervising meeting places, and training the orders of clerics.
    5. Consulars: these two men lead the armies and wield the most considerable power in Altorum.

Religion(s): Most Altorians revere the god Nuruvir and the goddess Verienci. The two are believed to be in constant battle with each other, but are also hiding their undying love for each other whilst doing so. Their love is believed to be the source of all love. The main worshipping practice among these two is to congregate in a meeting place each week and to express gratitude for the love created by them, and the skill in battle bestowed upon Altorum from them, by offering words and sacrifices. Religion, however, has recently become a backseat affair; most still practice it but simply go through the motions.

    Brief History: (in progress)

Misc: A warlike culture that also reveres love is an unstable culture indeed; these two opposing facets of their religion often lead to the religious and military leaders clashing.

    Altorian Army: (in progress)

    tl;dr Romans with Hooves.

"People were ready to have even their appetites controlled then. Anything for a quiet life. We've gone on controlling ever since. It hasn't been very good for truth, of course. But it's been very good for happiness. One can't have something for nothing. Happiness has got to be paid for. You're paying for it"
