...but instead I changed my mind at the last minute and saw Lincoln instead. Going to have to go back sometime to see Flight, but HOLY SHIT, Lincoln was such a great movie.
Loved it and definitely reccommend it!![]()

Can't wait to see Lincoln. Only one of the coolest mofo's ever.
I feel like that movie perpetuates the misconception that Lincoln was strongly against slavery.
Of course, I'm only saying this from a vague memory of the movie's trailer and an equally foggy memory of learning such a fact about Abraham in school. Well it actually might have been in the hallways. In passing. I had earbuds in and I heard it from a girl who was chewing bubblegum. The way she was holding her bag of Big League Chew would suggest it was on the light side. The scrapes on her elbows would suggest she lived a bit dangerously, so I wouldn't put it past her to pop in half the package at once.

On a personal level, Lincoln was very much against slavery, but it was never part of his platform. Him being elected actually was part of the reason souther states seceded, as they were afraid he would abolish their work force and basically kill their economy. He was mainly focused on preserving the Union, but as the war progressed he saw how much of an issue slavery was and formed the Emancipation Proclamation.
