"So, wait..." Touching a finger to her chin, Ariana aimed her eyes upwards, signifying that she was going through an intense thought process. "Was that a...compliment? Or an insult?" Gasping, her face lit up in a wide grin. "Does that actually make me a superior officer?" Giggling, shook her head and waved a hand casually, indicating that she was kidding. "No, as if, right? I could never dish out any orders." Laughing nervously, she ran her fingers through the short locks of her hair. The idea of being in actual combat, no matter how well she had been trained, still gave her the jitters. It wasn't the fighting itself that scared her, it was the idea that someone else's life might be placed in her hands, that she would be expected to protect them, and keep them safe. It was the idea that she would be hurting someone else, possibly killing if the situation deemed it necessary. All she could do was hope that, if faced by such a situation, this conflict inside of her wouldn't cause her to hesitate or make a bad decision, one that could ultimately lead to far worse deaths.
"Boy, I sure hope I never have to use this thing." Kyle checking his plasma pistol prompted her to speak again and get her mind off of the unpleasant topic in her mind, but her voice came out as a loud frantic sound. Running her fingers over the her own pistol, strapped snugly to her hip, she simultaneously shuddered and took comfort. As long as she kept the setting on 'stun', she didn't have to worry about anything. It was nice to have an option like that when dealing with weaponry in high pressure situations.
As Kyle turned to them, and mentioned their landing, Ariana bit her lip, battling between whether she should feel nervous or excited.
Obviously, the excitement won over.
"I can't believe we even get rooms. I wonder where Lucy is? I had sort of been hoping to get to know her a little bit better before we...you know, lived in the same room. Not that I don't trust her, or anything. I just think it's more fun when you're well acquainted with your roommate right off the bat. Then the sleepover parties can start earlier! Without Earth stuff though, it'll be a bit...impromptu, but we're girls, we can handle impromptu."
