Lately I've been considering getting one, seeing as it would be easier to use than a typical Bamboo. Usually, I draw traditionally, but I think it might be best for me to be able to practice in both media forms.

If you're serious about the Cintiq, checking somewhere like ebay might not be a bad starting point -- then you can see if there are any used ones available to help you knock the price down some so it's not as much of a hit to your pocket, if you're just looking to have something to learn on.

Digitally drawing, for me, is quite fun; it's just a bit of a frustration trying to find ways to incorporate my sketchy way of drawing onto an art program compared to how it works on paper. And thanks. :> I'll take a look on ebay and see what I can find.

A Cintiq is basically a pressure sensitive screen you can draw directly on, like you naturally would use pen/paper. A Bamboo (or Graphire or Intuos, etc.) is a tablet that you hold and have to up look at the computer screen while you draw and not down at your hand (as you typically would). There tends to be a bit of a learning curve using these sort of tablets because your natural inclination is to watch your hand while you draw, but it's not terribly difficult to adjust. The Cintiq allows you to just draw as you typically could, without the adjustment.

I wouldn't say that one is necessarily better than the other; I know some people who prefer their Intuos to something like a Cintiq and vice versa.. It depends on the artist which is a better fit.

That's the kind of thing I've wanted for almost three years now. I still do most of my drawing/sketching/practicing on paper, if only because it's easier to access during the day, so I'm still better at traditional than digital. Despite digital being my preferred form.
Now I just need to find $1000.

You might want to try Corel Painter -- you won't find a program that can imitate the traditional look better than it can.
