I've done a lot of role playing on and off over the years, with varying levels of intricacy. I love creating stories and developing characters, and when I can do it with someone else it is even more fun.
I've mostly stuck to doing role play posts with my friends, because for me it is heartbreaking when a story just dies because someone who is a large part of the plot suddenly decides to stop posting. However, I've realized that I need to do these stories, and I need more than what just a couple friends can bring me. In the end, I'm an addict. If I'm not writing, I'm not happy. And friends have lives. Which usually don't match up to my free time. That's why I came here.
I have high hopes, in the end.

And that is why I'm here, because I want to write, and I want to find people I can write with, and share the joy of watching our characters grow. I'll be sending out some tendrils of plot ideas later, perhaps today, perhaps tomorrow.

I hope that I can find people here who feel like devoting stretches of time to just writing with me. I plan to keep things smaller, because the more people there are, the more likely it seems to me that someone will just disappear. I'll probably start in the one-on-one, then build up.

In the end, I'm here because I'm hopeful.

Nice to meet you all. I am eager to get started. I'll check out that guide, and my brain is already starting to roll out the lot ideas. I'll be drifting my way over to the interest checks once I feel that I have concluded here. I'm very eager to get to know you all a little better, and start to create stories with you.
I do have a couple questions. Is it possible to edit a post, and how strict is the no OOC rule in the actual role plays? If these are answered in the guide, feel free to let me find the answers myself.

The edit thing will be activated for your account in a bit, it is one of the many filters we have to help keep bots and such out. Just give it time and you will see an edit button on the lower right. Generally there is no OOC allowed in the RP's (though you will find some in the Free section). But here each RP has an OOC thread as well as an IC thread so there is a place for both.

First, when should you use the general interest check section, vs using the ones specifically within the different role play types? Is there a difference? Also, is it common for a single person to have multiple characters within one role play, is it generally frowned upon, or is it individual to each topic (thread?)?

The general Interest check is a holdover from another set-up we have. I typically use the level specific checks first and then do the general. But there is no rule about it. Using both gets you a wider audience for certain. As for how many characters in a RP, that varies from RP to RP and is dependent on the GM in question. As long as they obey the rules of the guild GM's have pretty much complete autonomy to run things how they wish. So ask the GM in question. There is lots of freedom here.
