    The Wild Blue

    Overview
The Wild Blue is a Fantasy Steampunk Setting where Airships are the primary source of travel and adventure.

    Adrift in the Blue
The worlds of the Wild Blue float in a sky of breathable gases circling a small, cold star. Scholars believe that the star is made from pure Essence—the strange energy that sorcerers channel for their magic. This “solar system” is much smaller than you might think—it takes about six weeks to cross from one side to the other on a standard sky ship. Most of the worlds of the Empire are so closely positioned that it takes only a day or two to travel from one to another.

    The Lower Depths
The heavier gases form a dense layer of fog below the “sky” of the Wild Blue. This fog is corrosive —people need to wear gas-masks to breathe and most airship hulls will start to corrode after a single exposure. Pirates and other criminals sometimes use the lower depths to evade Imperial patrols and launch raids from hiding. Unfortunately, the depths are home to Sky Squid and other monstrous things....

    Ilysium
The capitol world of the Empire, home to the great noble houses. Ilysium is rich and decadent, attended by servants, slaves, and the elite bodyguards of the nobility.

    Olympia
The staging world of the Imperial Sky Fleet. From here, expeditions are launched into the colonial expanse and all across the Wild Blue. Olympia is also home to the finest brewers and distillers in the Empire.

    Haven
The most prominent of the Free Worlds. Here, in the sprawling city hubs, the Trade Union tries to impose some order on the bickering clans and factions of the Free Peoples. Slavery is outlawed here, so many ex-slaves make Haven their home.

    Nightport
Unlike other worlds, Nightport does not rotate, which means one face is always in darkness. It is on this side that pirates and smugglers have built a hidden port city in which to carry out their nefarious dealings. This hive of scum and villainy is a dangerous place, but almost anything may be bought or sold there, including secrets.

    The Remnants
A swirling maelstrom of spinning world-shards. The Remnants are almost impossible to navigate without a proper map, even for the best airship pilots. It’s a region controlled by the Pirate Lords who each control a chunk of territory.

    A Smuggler's Vessel
The Owl was once a Sky Hauler C9 cargo ship but has since been extensively customized. It has a smaller cargo area and four passenger berths in the reclaimed space. It also has hidden smuggling compartments scattered throughout the vessel.

The Owl is an old ship, but it can hold its own with more modern vessels thanks to its custom engines and supercharged steam drive. Unfortunately, all of these modifications put a lot of strain on the old girl. The ship is fine running day to day, but when it’s put under a lot of stress (as it often is) things can go awry—broken pipes, vented steam, leaking fluids, and worse. Still, The Owl is not just a skyship, it’s a home to its crew. They gather around the beat-up old wooden dinner table in the galley every night and thank the four winds that fortune saw fit to bless them with such a fine craft.

    Character Creation

    Races

Humans: Originating from Olympia, humanity is as diverse and culturally distinctive as they are in the Real World. While the Empire very closely resembles a Pax Britannica style culture, many of the other World Shards take themes from other cultures.

Goblinoids: Exist as slave labor to the Empire, and as the minority race in the Free Worlds. Goblinoids come in all shapes and sizes, but each have similarities to be considered a single race. Goblins unconsciously change color based on their emotion. They can control this somewhat, but intense emotions are nigh impossible to overcome. Fear causes goblins to turn green. They can be as short as 3' and as tall as 6'. All of them possess sharp teeth and claws, and can speak in a language that only other Goblinoids understand.

Clockwerks: They started as toys and status symbols in court, but soon began to replace people in several menial jobs. After an isolated incident of supposed insubordination, the Empire outlawed Clockwerks and destroyed all the soldiers they made. Some escaped and had to be hunted down. A few escape the Empire’s reach and hid in the more remote regions of the Expanse, while others made it all the way to the Free Worlds. Clockwerks are immortal so long as they can keep their bodies repaired and clean.

The Blooded: The blooded are those who have the ability to manipulate Essence through will alone; commonly called magic.

    Traits and Tags
Traits are sort of like "classes" or "roles" that your character plays. Tags are the abilities that are attached to those roles. When we play the game, it'll be your Traits and Tags that will determine what you are able to do. You will be able to choose 4 Traits, and choose which tags in those traits you'll use, can't go higher than 8 tags per trait. No two characters can have the same traits.

My traits will be Imperial Noble, Stormblood, Smuggler, Cunning.

Interested, however, my writings may not be on par with the best of the adv people, since I mostly frequent the cas section.

But if you do decide to accept, I wish to take the engineer as my char.

    So....If I was a necromancer before...Is this an improvement?
My challenge to myself from now on. I will accompany every IC post with a picture I draw, regardless of how bad it is. I may not be able to put one up if the potato I call my broadband acts up however.

I have a weird idea for this. But I'll throw it together anyway and see if it shakes out!
