    Solar Schism(Space Faction RP Interest Check)

    In March 5th, 1979, Voyager 1 begins flyby of Jupiter. The space probe sends back photographs of the Jupiter Gas Giant and it's moons, however, something else was captured in the still images, Large metallic objects of odd, almost man-made shapes. Once this was public, speculation and rumors spring forth. It was the Greatest Discovery in Mankind's history, as well as answering a lingering question. We are not Alone.

    Discovering Intelligent Alien lifeforms had jump started the Space Race tenfold. As humanity worked towards to reach the stars and meet their planetary neighbors. This also triggered a new Cold War by the 21st Century between the United States and China. As well as mankind's beginning to tamper with itself through science. As the technology to change and modify the human body was very possible. Which in turn sparked the Transhuman Movement. Signaling dark times ahead as Economic and social turmoils fell upon the world. For many decades, there was a great struggle on the question, "What does it mean to be human?"

    By the early 22nd century. The Second Cold War came to an end as the United States, followed by China, had declared an all-out war on the Transhuman Movement. The War came to a swift end by a now militarized United Nations, now reorganizing itself into the United Earth League, while calling for a Global National Dismantlement. A proposal in which all national militaries, as well as all nations would dissolve all sovereignty. This typically did not go fairly well for the nations of earth. All resisted. Thus, the Global National Dismantlement War followed. One by one, the disorganized, divided forces of the world fell before the might of the UEL. The nations were no longer such. They became "Regional Zones"

    For a time, all was well under the UEL. Many regions of the world known for their inhospitable conditions were rising up to better living standards. No longer were homeless a common problem. The UEL made efforts to repair damages from the Environmental Changes. It was a period of relative peace and prosperity, a new gold age. However, everything has it's darkside.

    The Remnants of National Armies remained all across the world. The former United States was a warzone. As never-ending battles waged between the remenants of the US military and the UEL forces. Parts of Africa and South Eat Asia remained in the same chaotic state. And throughout the time between the UEL's rise to power. Posthuman terrorists launched their own war, as they had many genocidal attempts to wipe out the human race. The UEL responded harshly as they restarted the Closed Genocide from the last war. And eventually, the UEL became desperate, and enacted the Martian Convict Exodus Act. In which mass numbers of prisoners, no matter the crime, would be sent to the Mars penal colony.


    The UEL, first seen as a beacon of human progress, has turn to something horrid, and corrupt. Earth's own machines begun to attain sentience, human and posthuman sympathizers alike, rose up in revolution, fracturing the UEL and her colonies even further. No longer under the illusion of brotherhood. Remnants of the Earth loyalists scattered, Earth's Elite focusing their power on titan and far out to the asteroid fields, in order to save their homeworld from this bloody uprising.

    Elsewhere the Alien powers of Sol face the same crisis in one way or another. The Solar System is divided, broken. The Year is 2398, and the Solar Schism has begun.

    As you can see, this is a Alternate History Space Faction RP. Humans are no longer the only ones in Sol, The moons and worlds of Sol are now home to either humans or aliens. The possibilities are endless! However, let's get to the Ground rules.

    1. Player can not destroy a planet or do anything apocalyptic or near apocalyptic without my permission.
    2. No purposely trying to find loopholes in the rules.
    3. My word is law. I'm not unreasonable, however once I make a decision. Calmly bring a matter to me you find unsatisfactory. Do not bitch about it.
    4. This is not play to win.
    5. Have a reasonable military. For it's strengths, There must be weaknesses.
    6. Use Common Sense. Don't be Stupid.
    7. Once you've made the Nation sheet, that Nation will become semi-NPC, both me and the player will share limited control of said nation.
    8. Regarding ExtraSolar Aliens, if you chose to play as such. They must have settled somewhere in Sol prior to 2079.

    Note: Just because a world has been taken in that it already has a Government, does not mean you can't play as a faction from said world.

    Glossary

    Space Colony
    Massive Spaceborne Superstructures of various shapes and designs that litter the Sol System. Built with the aide of alien machines known as ORDER, Space Colonies have their own ecosystem breathable atmosphere capable to support millions. Many of these colonies broke away from their respective homeworlds to form their own sovereign nations or banded together to form said nations.

    Armored Frames
    A new generation of Mechanized War machines first introduced in 2330 by the Earth-based Seraph Industries. The First Generation were humanoid in shape, and later models took bestial and more varied forms. By 2380, Most militaries in Sol possessed Armored Frames in some capacity, others more then some. They are versatile in function, as they greatly differ from walkers used by the military. They had enhanced reflexes and speed. Moving more like living beings then machines. Some as well had the ability to fight in multiple environments, from sea, ground, air and space. The standard and agreed upon height of these machines was fifteen meters tall.

    Phase Drive
    Invented by 2079, the Phase Drive is an NTL(Nearer then Light) device that took mankind beyond Earth at last. While an improvement to previous methods, the Phase Drive can in no way, travel faster then light. Depending on distance, Phase jumps between locales can take up to a few hours, to days, to weeks.

    The Sol Defense Initiative (SDI)
    Defenders of Sol, and the Peace
    (Military, Police, Diabolical Scientists, Various Other Roles)

    Hails from: Technically the SDI developed originally on Earth, however, they now have a presence just about everywhere in Sol.

    Species: Technically the SDI considers them to be entirely human. Despite this, cybernetics are practically universal among SDI personnel, genetic alteration too is practically universal among the combat branch, and sentient A.I. are ubiquitous within the SDI, all three of which are completely illegal under common UEL Law.

    Persons of Importance:


    Military/Civilian Assets: Numbers to be determined when all players are accounted for. The SDI is one powerful mofo, the only problem is they've got far too many problems and too few people to deal with all of them. For instance, the SDI simultaneously ensures the continued operation of three different defense networks, the first being the HADES network, a large series of shields constructed throughout Earth's series that have brought an end to M.A.D., the second being the ZEUS network, which comprises the numerous and massively destructive orbital defense satellites that circle Earth and also comprises a secure information network linking Earth with its various colonies, and the third is the APOLLO network, a series of deep-space satellites built with ultra-precise instruments that can detect an incoming extrasolar far, far ahead of its arrival in Sol.

    Beyond maintaining these three crucial networks, the SDI must also maintain six different interceptor flotillas at all times to intercept any incoming extrasolars, the vast majority of which have only been single ships, and are themselves a rather rare occurrence. The SDI has also been saddled with essentially trying to police all of Sol and maintain what little peace is left, as it remains the last great organization that seems to have retained its sanity. This position of "System Police" has spread their manpower, however great it might be, even thinner as the SDI, due to its its idealistic, egalitarian viewpoint, attempts to help everyone, be they refugees on Earth or the last shreds of civilization on Mars.

    Laura was born on Mars, having grown up in The city of Ares. She is fascinated by explosives, and when her father, an immigrant to Mars, hailing from the former UK, was arrested by the UEL on suspicions of ZLR related terrorism, she went rogue and started to conduct bombings on the UEL pipelines. She was sent to the Stockade, then she met Sarah Scarlet. Sarah was a troublemaker like herself, and the two seemed to have had many things in common. They both paired up to survive and he became Sarah's closest friend. Laura joined up with Mad Dog's rebellion, using her skill with explosives to blow up all the security measures keeping the convict forces in her district from advancing. Laura serves as the demolition's expert and mechanical head of Scarlet's band.

    So I went for the theme of a sort of Pirate/ Paramilitary/ Mafia State. Think Jabba the Hutt in Star Wars... except without the big giant ugly slug...
    If this does not fit the theme of the Nation Roleplay just let me know and I will change what needs to be changed.

    Somalia has always been in a tumultuous, chaotic state.

    Even before the UEL splintered into pieces, Somalia was plagued by piracy, civil war, and unrest. However, there was one sliver of time in Somalia's history when there was peace. When the UEL claimed the Earth, Somalia went through it's longest period of peace and progress in over a millennium. Investors rushed in to invest on plots of land suspected of containing high reserves of oil.

    One such investor Fadid Ahmed Sesar, a wealthy Arabic businessman, struck it rich when his company discovered oil in southern Somalia. However, Fadid was a ruthless man. to protect his investments and to keep his workers in line, Fadid bought weapons and hired mercenaries and thugs as "Security Measures". He then used his already swelled monetary resources to participate in Illegal trade and underhanded deals making him one of the Richest men in the Middle East and Africa.

    But when the world rose up to overthrow the UEL, Somalia was no exception. People rioted in the streets of Mogadishu and stormed the capitol, killing the UEL governor who had led Somalia. Somalia splintered into tiny pieces as Warlords sprang up to take over the country. Somalia thus entered a "warring states" period, with no official leader or united nation.

    Fadid, by now in his late 50's, became a Warlord. He armed his men and used his vast riches to purchase guns, ammunition, and mercenaries. He quickly became the dominant force in the South, and over the next five years slowly conquered and subdued all the rival warlords, making him the undisputed leader of New Somalia. Ever since then, he and his descendants have ruled Somalia.

    Numbers to be determined when all players are accounted for

    Somalia's military is largely made up of paramilitary thugs, Pirates, and mercenaries under the payroll of the Crime Lord. They are extremely ruthless but will stay loyal only as long as their paychecks are delivered. Assassins and Bounty Hunters are regularly found working for the Somalian Crime Lord. They will often be hired to take out the Crime Lord's enemies or fight for other countries on behalf of Somalia. Their expertise in what they do make them well respected members of the Crime Lord's entourage and will often find a place right by the side of the Crime Lord if they perform well in their contracts and missions. Bounty Hunters and Assassins will be executed however, if they fail too many missions or displease the Crime Lord.

    Somalia's position in world affairs is strictly neutral. Morality goes out the window and Somalia only fights for the highest bidder or the nation that can currently provide the most benefit to Somalia. Past alliances or partnerships are null and void if they can not provide anything of value to Somalia.

    Armory, Vehicles, and Ships will be determined as more information on technology becomes available.

    Well, there's one problem. The ZLR(Serp's faction) controls Africa. Well, more like a haven. You'll have to ask serp if it's ok.

    Is there any place on Earth that isn't controlled by either the ZLR or UEL?
    And if everything really is controlled by one of the two, then perhaps you could fit me in as some sort of criminal faction within the ZLR? I still want to sorta keep my original idea as it took me a long time to work out and think about.
