The world has changed since the dead started to walk. Civilization is dead and gone, leaving only ruins and chaos in its wake. Most of humanity has been slain since the outbreak started, the majority of them rising as Walkers, animated corpses that have no intelligence or thoughts other than the drive to kill and consume humans. Only scattered and ragged bands of survivors remain alive, hiding out in abandoned buildings or camping out in the wilderness when possible, fleeing for their lives the rest of the time. This life is hard on even the strongest of men, weakening some to seek suicide as a release and hardening others into ruthless murderers. Mothers have thrown their babes into the arms of the Walkers to save their own life, trained soldiers have wept with fear and thrown down their weapons to run from the hordes, children have become adept killers of both man and Walker. The world is not what it used to be, the old order burned to the ground and crushed beneath the oozing and rotting feet of the risen dead. The only semblance of normalcy to be found is in bands of survivors who have worked together to stay alive amidst the chaos, if the word 'normalcy' can be applied at all to people constantly running from their impending death.
This is the story of one such group, people from all walks of life who have come together for the mutual benefit of increased chances of survival. They have slain hundreds of Walkers, fled from the hordes, and mourned lost friends together. However, they are about to face a threat they never expected, something far more intelligent and fearsome than any shambling corpse: each other. The constant struggle to live has cracked the minds of some members of the ragged group, turning them toward a path of senseless murder. Perhaps they've decided that death would be preferable to living in the endless hell they reside in, perhaps they've acquired a taste for killing, perhaps they've gone off the proverbial deep end and have no real reason; one can never really tell with psychopaths. If the rest of the survivors wish to continue to retain that title, they must rally together and find the killers before their numbers have been culled to the point that they cannot survive the onslaught of the walking dead... and the army of the dead grows with each survivor that dies.
• All players are considered 'Survivors' while alive. If they have died and rise again they are considered 'Walkers.' A player is only considered completely dead in this game if a role ability or special circumstances killed a Survivor with damage to the head or if a Walker is slain.
• There are two phases: day and night. Each phase is a distinct and separate turn of play. Day Phase ends with the lynch post, Night Phase ends with the murder post.
• One player has the role of Shane, the main killer who murders someone every Night Phase.
• One player has the role of Merle, the secondary killer who kills once every three turns.
• Each Day Phase the Survivors will take a vote to lynch one of their number. The majority vote choice will be slain by the mob.
• The killers win the game if they survive until the group dwindles to less than 5 people, including themselves. The Survivors who were too stupid to catch the killer(s) among them will then be thrown to the Walkers whilst the killer(s) remain alive and joyful about the violent demise of their former comrades. Being a psychopath is ever so much fun.
• The Survivors win the game if they catch all the killers before the group dwindles to less than 5 people. They will then be able to go back to their hellish lives of running and hiding and hoping the Walkers don't get them and running some more when they're found and slowly losing all the people they love and contemplating suicide with every sunrise because they can't take the thought of another day living like this. Hooray!
• The Walkers can also win the game by slaying three of the Survivors, thus suitably strengthening themselves and their numbers to overrun the living people. If they win they get to happily chow down on the corpses of all remaining Survivors, both killers and fools alike. Mmm, delicious human flesh.
• DarkKeny and I are running this game together; he's handling the bulk of the basic gameplay work, I'll be the thread caretaker and story post writer. DarkKeny will be the person to private message with all role PM responses, lynch votes, and role abilities unless otherwise stated in this thread. We'll go over the results of things together, make decisions together on anything that needs deciding, so on and so forth, so don't worry about there being any discrepancy between the PMed things and my story posts. Questions of any kind can be directed to either of us and are encouraged if you want or need clarification on anything.
• Players will be given roles at random. If you beg for a particular role you'll be kicked out of the game without a second thought.
• People not playing in the game are not allowed to post in this thread. If your name isn't listed in the Survivors section near the bottom of the post, the list of those who signed up for the game in the thread made for that purpose, no posting allowed. I'd rather not have to take the effort to report anyone for such a stupid thing, but I will if necessary.
• Dead players are allowed one final post in the thread to share their info, complain about their death, or whatever they choose to use it for, but then they must leave and cease posting. Note that Walkers are not considered dead players for the purpose of this game (because undead≠dead), they can remain and talk in the thread all they like.
• Lynch votes will be cast only by PMs sent to DarkKeny; typing another player's name in boldface in this thread will not count as a lynch vote as it has in RD games of the past in Spam. Players are encouraged to comb through the story posts for hints and discuss their lynch choice in the thread prior to casting their vote, but this is not mandatory. Players are free to state who they voted for in the thread, but be aware that lying is always an option since only the PM to DarkKeny counts.
• Walkers can injure Survivors rather than outright killing them. If a Survivor is injured 2 times they will die then rise again as a Walker.
• Players who are inactive for a certain number of turns, let's say three, will be killed via gruesome head smashing or decapitation such that they cannot remain as a Walker; anyone killed for this reason will be allowed one final post if they wish to use it. If you have some reason for being inactive send DarkKeny and myself a PM saying you'll be gone or busy for some span of time and we'll probably make an allowance for you.
• Talking via PMs is allowed, but please keep most of the game discussion in this thread. Not only is this better for the overall fun for all participates, seeing the public accusations and chaos that ensues is what makes this fun for us to GM. Be nice to your GMs, play the game in the thread as much as you can manage.
• Screenshots of PMs of any kind relating to this game (role PMs, other messages from the GMs, discussion with other players, etc.) are not allowed because they kill the game. Anyone found to be taking or sending screenshots of game PMs will be killed off and kicked from the game without being allowed a final post. Posting quotes and forwarding PMs is absolutely 100% allowed because they can be faked with ease (I'll even explain how to do so if you require help for some reason), so have fun with them.
• Leave your butthurt at the door. This is a game, it's supposed to be fun. If someone starts causing a bunch of stupid drama to the point that they're ruining the game for other people they'll be killed off and kicked from the game without being allowed a final post because fuck you. I'll also be sure to make it a stupid and embarrassing death because fuck you. Furthermore, you will not be allowed entry into any further Rabbit Doubt games DarkKeny and I (or I solo) host because fuck you. Are you seeing the common theme yet? Stupid over the top drama kills the fun of the game, don't start it here.
• No encryption allowed for any reason. Be clever with how you play the game, not with silly coded messages.
• Any of the above rules and specifics of role mechanics below are subject to change at any time for the sake of making the game more fun. If it's a change to a rule stated above or to a publicly known role it will be announced in the thread in the interest in transparent GMing. Changes made to secret roles will, of course, not be made public knowledge. We may also add new secret roles at any point to keep things lively, such as if one of the killers gets killed right off the bat. Shenanigans abound, so be wary.
Leader - Exactly what it says on the tin: the Leader is the person chosen to be in charge of the group. Due to their position of authority, the Leader's lynch vote will count as two votes. This role will be voted on in secrecy by all players as a response to their role PM. The recipient of the role will not be announced publicly, though the Leader is free to announce their own identity should they so wish. Should the Leader be killed off early the Survivors may be prompted to select another to see them through these troubled times.
Shane - Shane is the primary killer role. He must PM DarkKeny the name of one Survivor to kill every Night Phase. Shane is also able to cast a lynch vote every Day Phase.
Merle - Merle is the secondary killer role. He may choose to start killing in any phase after the start of the game by PMing DarkKeny the name of the Survivor he wishes to murder. From then on he may choose to kill someone a maximum of once every three turns; after he kills a Survivor he must wait a full day, one Day Phase and one Night Phase, before he can kill again. Once over the course of the game Merle may choose to make a kill that decapitates the target, removing them from the game completely without them becoming a Walker first; this cannot be used on his first kill of the game. Merle is also able to cast a lynch vote every Day Phase.
Rick - Rick is a former sheriff and thus has learned to hunt down criminals. Every Night Phase he may send DarkKeny the name of one Survivor to investigate and he will learn their role.
Daryl - Daryl's keen eye and staunch vigilance makes him the perfect ward against killers in the night. Every Night Phase he may send DarkKeny the name of one Survivor he wishes to protect. That player cannot be killed by Shane or Merle for that turn. If Daryl chooses to protect Shane or Merle, he will be slain instead of their intended target.
Hershel - Hershel's veterinary training gives him a chance to heal the injured and save victims of the killers. Every Day Phase he may send DarkKeny the name of one injured Survivor to try to heal. He has a 75% chance to heal that person's injuries. Every Night Phase he may send DarkKeny the name of one Survivor to try to save. He has a 50% chance to save that person's life if they are the target of Shane or Merle. If Hershel tries to save Shane or Merle at night he will be slain instead of their intended target; he will not die if he attempts to heal one of the killers in the day.
Maggie - Maggie is a matchmaker because we couldn't think of anything else decent to give her that wasn't already taken. She'll choose two players at the start of the game to pair up; if one of the pair dies, the other will commit suicide. Should the pair be killed very early in the game, Maggie may be allowed to select a new pairing.
T-Dog - T-Dog is pretty much shitty and worthless unless he's about to die. If he is targeted by Shane or Merle he will go down fighting and take his attacker with him.
Carol - Carol is also kind of useless, but less so than T-Dog because she can learn things given enough time. If Carol survives until 8 of the Survivors have died, she can choose one of the Walkers or dead people who used to be an asset to the group and take their place, thus gaining their role powers to make her useful. Anything is allowed to be taken, including killer roles and post-death activation roles. The use of this ability will not be announced publicly and detection abilities will not be able to learn what role Carol took over. Carol will be PMed by one of the GMs when her role can be used.
Survivor - A Survivor is a run of the mill person. They do not possess any special skills or abilities, but they are of course able to cast lynch votes.
Walker - A Walker is someone who has been killed and rose from the dead to walk again. All people who die without being decapitated or taking major damage to the head will become Walkers. Walkers are still able to post in the thread, but they may not cast lynch votes. Instead they may target a Survivor to attack every phase with a chance to injure or kill them; chances to harm the target increase with the number of Walkers going after that person.
Secret Roles - Yes, there are obviously some secret roles. If you're a fan of the show and noticed major characters missing from the above list, they're probably a secret role. If you've played Rabbit Doubt a few times and are wondering about the lack of a certain role, it may indeed be a secret role. Feel free to guess and speculate about them.

Snake = Merle
Detective = Rick
Protector = Daryl
Doctor = Hershel
Matchmaker = Maggie
Self-Sacrificial = T-Dog
These are copies of what were sent out as role PMs, because I don't want to retype them with different pronouns and stuff.
Shane - Shane is the main killer role. You must PM DarkKeny the name of a Survivor to kill every Night Phase. You are also allowed to cast a lynch vote every Day Phase.
Merle - Merle is the secondary killer role. You may PM DarkKeny the name of a Survivor to kill once every three turns; after choosing to kill a Survivor you must wait until a full day and night cycle passes to kill again. Merle also has the special ability to once a game choose someone to kill via decapitation such that they cannot remain as a Walker; this ability cannot be used with Merle's first kill because reasons. You are also allowed to cast a lynch vote every Day Phase.
Rick - Rick is the detective of the group. Every Night Phase you may PM DarkKeny the name of one Survivor to investigate and learn their role. You may also cast a lynch vote every Day Phase.
Daryl - Daryl is a protector of the group. Every Night Phase you may PM DarkKeny the name of one Survivor to protect. If Shane or Merle try to kill that person, they will fail and be unable to kill anyone for that phase. If you try to protect Shane or Merle you will be killed instead of their intended victim. You may also cast a lynch vote every Day Phase.
Hershel - Hershel is the doctor of the group and may take an action every phase. During every Night Phase you may PM DarkKeny the name of a Survivor you wish to attempt to save. If that person is targeted by Shane or Merle you have a 50% chance to save their life; if you attempt to save Shane or Merle you will be killed instead of their intended victim. During every Day Phase you may PM DarkKeny the name of a Survivor you wish to heal. You will have a 75% chance of healing them of their injuries; attempting to heal Shane or Merle will not result in your death. You may also cast a lynch vote every Day Phase.
Sophia - Sophia is an apparently benign member of the group that causes some havoc after death. If you become a Walker you may PM DarkKeny within four turns (two full day and night cycles of phases) the name of a living Survivor that you wish to kill; if you wait until longer than that you will no longer be able to use this ability. This does not replace or override the normal Walker ability you will have after death (to be explained after there are a certain number of Walkers in play). While you are a living Survivor you may also cast a lynch vote every Day Phase.
Carl - Carl is a member of the group who doesn't take shit from people. If you are lynched you will have a choice of two powers to activate: you may either choose to kill one of the people who voted to lynch you or you may choose to kill two Survivors at random. You will be PMed by one of the GMs to inform you if you are locked in as the lynch target to make your choice. While you are a living Survivor you may also cast a lynch vote every Day Phase.
Glenn - Glenn is a protector of the group. Every Day Phase you may PM DarkKeny the name of one Survivor to protect. If this person is targeted by Merle or other roles that can cause deaths in the day they will instead not be harmed. If you choose to protect Shane or Merle you will be killed instead. You may also cast a lynch vote every Day Phase.
Amy - Amy is someone whose death has a profound impact on a loved one. You must send DarkKeny the name of someone you wish to target with your ability at the beginning of the game (in your reply to this role PM). If you die the targeted person will be strongly impacted by your passing in one of the following ways: they will have a 25% chance to commit suicide, a 25% chance to have their role ability/lynch vote disabled for that phase and the next, and a 50% chance to be disabled for only the phase in which you die. Before your death you may also cast a lynch vote every Day Phase.
Lori - Lori is the naysayer of the group. You may send DarkKeny the name of someone you wish to disable in any phase; the disabled person's role ability will not work for this phase and if it's a Day Phase their lynch vote will also be negated. After making use of this ability you must wait for a turn before you can use it again; if used in a Day Phase you can't use it in the following Night Phase, and vice versa. You may also cast a lynch vote every Day Phase.
Andrea - Andrea is the member of the group who won't go down without a fight. The first time you are targeted by either Shane or Merle you will escape with your life and have a 33% chance of learning the identity of the attempted killer. After this power is used your role will be announced publicly and you will no longer have any special abilities. You may also cast a lynch vote every Day Phase.
Carol - Carol is the adaptive member of the group. If you survive until 8 Survivors have been killed by any means, you will be able to adapt and take over the role of one of those people. You will be allowed to take the power of any one of the people who have been killed, including killer roles if you so wish. You will be PMed by one of the GMs with a list of roles to choose from when you can use your role. You may also cast a lynch vote every Day Phase.
T-Dog - T-dog is the member of the group who is useless until he's about to die. If you are targeted by Shane or Merle you will fight back and deliver a fatal wound to them as you are killed, thus taking your murdered with you. You may also cast a lynch vote every Day Phase.
Dale - Dale is the moral authority of the group. Once over the course of the game during a Day Phase you may choose to save one Survivor from a lynch vote; this power use must be sent to DarkKeny in the same PM as your own lynch vote or it will not be counted. For this Day Phase all of the lynch votes will be revealed to the public (telling who voted for which people) and any votes cast against your protected target will be null and void. After this power is used your role will be announced publicly and you will no longer have any special abilities. You may also cast a lynch vote every Day Phase.
Michonne - Michonne is the Walker killing pro of the group. Your power only activates once the special Walker gameplay has been activated, when there are 5 Walkers in play; this will be announced in the thread and you will be PMed to be informed when your role becomes active. After that point you may choose one Walker every Day Phase to attempt to kill. You will have a 50% chance to kill that Walker and remove that player from the game permanently. You may also cast a lynch vote every Day Phase.
Maggie - Maggie is the matchmaker of the group. At the start of the game you must send DarkKeny the name of two Survivors you wish to pair together; include this choice in your role response PM along with your vote for the Leader. If one of your chosen pair dies, the other person will commit suicide to follow their lover into death. You may also cast a lynch vote every Day Phase.
Survivor - Survivors are the normal members of the group. You have no special power. Every Day Phase you may cast a lynch vote by PMing DarkKeny with the name of who you suspect being a killer.
Governor - The Governor is a malevolent opportunist. Should Shane or Merle die before the point that the group is down to ten or less living Survivors, the Governor will assume their role's killing power. If Shane dies early, the Governor will kill every Night Phase. If Merle dies early, the Governor will be allowed to kill once every three turns with the ability to kill immediately regardless of whenever the original Merle last killed someone; if Merle has not used his once a game permanent kill ability by that point the Governor will also inherit that, otherwise he will only gain the killing power.
