Okie Dokie... Lets see. I suppose first thing people don't understand is that Men and Women treat sex slightly differently. (Im referring to an Interpretation of the Status Quo i have acquired)
This essentially means that women tend to emphasize the emotional elements of sex. The Foreplay, The Subtle touches of the hand, meaningful words shared while for men its the stimulating words, the actual sex, the inevitable massive release of Dopamin into the brain.Men treat sex as a Triumph, A Victory which involves successfully pleasuring their respective partners and Also as a method of garnering pleasure for themselves.
Women treat Sex as a Triumph of Love which involves successfully pleasuring their respective partners and coming to be closer with them through an acquired trust and also a method of Garnering pleasure for themselves.
So, Your first obstacle is trying to find a balance between the perception of the sex as a victory and an emotional journey.
Your next one is potentially more difficult to but easy to explain. What is your audience?
Are you concentrating on someone who creates a narrative in their minds through the writers fine detailing or the way the writer expresses detail? Do you express the sex as if it is process of nature or as a glorious event?
Do you describe sex as "A Triumph of Intimacy" or "The Art of Love-making"?
You essentially need to understand which one you're targetting because trying to cover all of them is monolithic in proportions.
And on a note, When using mythological creature Id suggest concentrating the vaguer details of them EG... The Feel of the furr on the hands rather than the fur itself.
