"Unknown as of right now, although there is something connecting her attack with the discovery of this 'Ziggurat', her motives are as clear as fog." Gou said. Just as Gou was about to speak again, a highly unnatural feeling pinched his magical senses, without wasting a second he quickly turned and ran full speed into the direction of The Human Village.
"The human boys!" he thought to himself as he ran.

Only minutes later he had arrived at the front gate, his speed had granted him much comfort, but he was horrified by what he found beyond the gate.

The village lay in ruin. The work only a maelstrom could cause. The shards of the village remains hung in midair, frozen, as if they were underwater. The villagers' seemingly dead bodies were strewn in the air, frozen. Hundreds of unfamiliar dead youkai were among the floating bodies. And finally the Chi and Rei, the two human boys, at the village center floating arm-in-arm, sleeping the same as the moment they were discovered. Not a sound was made by anything, Gou was met only by silence. Even the leaves appeared to have stopped falling.

He slumped to ground in despair. His only mission, an oath he swore to upkeep, was shattered.

He had failed.

Tolenka glanced over at Reimu when Gou took off suddenly, in mid conversation. The priestess frowned curiously at the rapidly dissapearing dot that was Gou.

"Request permission to pursue ma'am?" he asked politely.

"Eh? Oh sure, granted. In fact I'm coming with you. Something very disturbing has just happened." the shrine maiden said, taking to the skies as well.

Much slower than he wanted Tolenka trundled after the errant oni and shrine maiden. Sure, at sixty he was no slouch but it was nothing compared to Gou's or Reimu's speed. Fortunately he was able to take the direct route through the forest instead of taking the winding path most would have. He made a mental note to clean the bits of crushed tree out of his treads later.

The village was quiet. An all too familiar dead silence hung over the place. Reimu had landed just outside, a look of horror on her face. Not wanting to disturb her Tolenka drove directly into the village proper. A profound and very rude piece of Russian left his lips at the sight inside the walls. Immediately he started checking if there were people still alive by use of his thermal vision. Even unconscious, living bodies radiated heat.

"What the hell happened here?" he asked out loud. Then he noticed Gou, slumped to the ground.

"Are you okay comrade?" Tolenka asked.

"God damn it-t....." Gou muttered in a cracked voice. "I c-could have stayed w-with them....., C-chi and Rei. I-i knew what they capable of-f, but i still.... i could've s-stopped this..." Gou continued, barely able to pull out a straight sentence. "Even J-jigukashi, i can't sense him here anymore. Marisa and Byakuren...g-gone because of me.... " Gou continued. Gou, now in complete despair, began to glow in a faint light, growing stronger as his sadness quickly turned into misplaced anger and hatred, hatred for all youkai, the youkai that stole the lives of his only family, the youkai that took his home away from him, the youkai who attack the humans mindlessly, placing this burden upon him, but most of all, hatred for himself, a youkai who could have stopped the maelstrom.

Glowing a terrifying light he shouted into sky: ISLAND SIGN! HEAVEN AND EARTH!

The ground rumbled angrily in response to his call, heaving and quaking, the ground's strength gave way and Gou split two massive trenches into ground amd with all of his strength pulls the two islands from their earthbound slumber. But quickly realizing that his was too emotionally unstable, he collapsed under the titanic weight and plummitted down towards earth. The two colossal islands, no longer supported by Gou slowly fell and crushed as they moved faster down towards Gou's unconcious body.
