Shards of Memory (Reboot) - Mech

A few people have expressed interest in me reviving an old thread. I tried it a couple times on RPGuild, but I didn't have enough new blood for it to really go much of anywhere. I figured this time I'd test the waters with this.

Information for it can be found (please do not post on the URL's thread, I'll be making a new thread since there will be significant changes) - http://roleplayerguild.com/showthrea...=Shards+Memory

Let me know if you have any questions. I'd be really interested to see if there is a talented individual that could potentially be capable enough to lead the CIA organization.

Setting is intriguing, but the importance placed on your factions and the constraints on the mechs kills it for me

If you write an astounding biography, the restrictions on the mechs are much - well more open. The mechs that are listed are merely the most common and for some of the more minor character (which I encourage people to make) they will probably be the mechs of choice. People that have good biographies will be able to be leaders of various groups on one side or the other and will be able to make customized mechs (there is a bio format for this).

If you mean the literal factions, the factions in SoM are actually player created? If you mean something else, there are only two actual sides. For the revamp, I'd probably get rid of the Ravens and if players wish to band together and raid settlements, they can go and do that.

And that's really offputting having to make a super duper bio just so you can have a mech that's cool/not useless/blue/smells like lime/whatever.

Out of the two factions that matter you got:

THE MAN, man! And a monarchy with some oriental namings that has magic.

Closet thing that appeals to me would be the Ravens but they more like an afterthought with no real clout, and I doubt I could repurpose them for what I want to do. Which is to be a conqueror/leader of of a growing army that came out of nowhere that's suddenly the whole new threat schtick that's taken over some of the lesser shards and who has a cool secret base in the depths of the watery core which aids them in conflicts.

I do reward exceptional bios with exceptional customization, that is just how that works. A character that has a rational, and reasonable explanation for having what he or she has, and the player controlling said character is clearly capable of crafting this with care, is going to be the one with the very customized kensai. Average characters are going to have average items. *shrug* Realistically though, this makes sense.

There are more to the factions than that, but that is also the purpose of the plot of this thread. There is a loose, but important plot to be developed with elaboration and rational of what went on years ago.

The Ravens are completely open to customization. They do have one 'lesser' Shard under their control. Other than that, that is all they really have. They are designed to be a player organized and player created organization since I know many prefer the whole rogue thing. I left that open to people who wish to do that. Obviously, they are not going to have the latest gadgets and toys most likely because they won't have the resources of the larger organizations such as the UN or the Arlanian Empire (who is also struggling for resources).

There really isn't any large bodies of water on any of the shards. But, you could have an 'deep in earth' fortress potentially. It'd be pretty simple to cut out space from the inside of the shard to make a base. Entrance could be from a lake or something, so people have to go underwater to get to it.

The cores are frozen molten metal. You aren't really getting into them very easily.

My bad I just envisioned the water specifically conglomerating into the very center of where the core would be and not just being in the rift.

Speaking of the core are people extracting from it now that it's just a ball of alloy?
