    Nation Name: The Aenaean Diarchy

    Location: 54, 64, 65

    Color: Blue

Attitude: Generally peaceful. The Diarchy prefers to avoid combat, but will defend themselves militarily if the need arises. They prefer to make alliances and let others aid in defense, providing the allies with advanced technology.

Capital Planet: Aenaea (ay-NAY-uh) - Located in Sector 65 and orbiting the star called Forxen (FOR-zen). It is a mostly barren world, with the native sentients, the Drakoniid, originally being at the bottom of its food chain. The living conditions are brutal, with monstrous creatures roaming the surface. Beneath the surface is a complex tunnel system from when the Drakoniid were primitive, just barely sentient. There is a part of the world in the southeastern quarter that's tropical due to an atmospheric anomaly. Other than that small tropical area, the world has very little water except for the single ocean in the southern pole of the planet.

    Planets:
Forxen III - This is their primary manufacturing world. It's the nearest planet to Aenaea, and, as the name implies, the third planet from Forxen. It was completely barren, with no life at all. As such, nothing is outdoors. The whole planet is covered in factories, with everything connected by tunnels.
Throxal - Though this is technically a moon, which is the largest of the three moons of Aenaea, this still deserves mention. Throxal contains the areas of the primary research station not found on Aenaea, which, really, is most of it. The moon is geostationary, meaning it orbits the planet at the exact same speed at which the planet rotates, thus making it seem like it doesn't move to one on the surface. This fact has allowed it to be connected to the facility on the surface via a transport beam.

Leader: The Diarchy is run by two individuals, one being human, the other a Drakoniid. Currently, the Diarchy is run by Diarchs Trey Harker and Kemanorel.

Government: Diarchy - The nation is run by two individuals sharing absolute power, with a Senate below them split into equal parts human and Drakoniid that advises them. Most Diarchs have considered the advice of the Senate, but the power still definitely rests solely in the hands of the Diarchs.

Population: Approximately 1.5 trillion, with a little more Drakoniids than humans.

    Races: Drakoniid and human

    Currency: Aenaean Pound

    Allies: None at the moment.

    Enemies: None at the moment.

Military: About a 7. This is mainly due to a lack of interest, which resulted in a relatively small military that is smaller than the modern population of Earth. They are still well-trained, and armed with the most advanced technology they have. For such a young nation, their technology is extremely advanced, though most older nations will still be more advanced than they currently are.

    Economy/Resources/Trade: 10

    Influence: 60

Advantage Traits: Scientific advances come to this nation more easily than most others. The resourcefulness and curiosity of the humans has been most influential on this fact, and the determination of the Drakoniid has pushed it farther than the humans could have ever done on their own. As such, they will likely end up being the biggest distributor of advanced technology. Also, they have a very stable economy that seems to only be improving.

Disadvantage Traits: Unfortunately, despite having some of the most advanced technology, they have a relatively weak military. They depend on allies for defense when up against a military nation. The problem doesn't come from lack of advanced weaponry, but a lack of interest in doing so. They don't put much focus into military development, focusing on scientific development instead. There is also a slight divide between the two races, with humans often being wealthier and withholding much advanced tech from the Drakoniid. Drakoniid tend to live in the slums, but there are exceptions to this. Not all humans are wealthy landowners, and not all Drakoniid are slum-dwellers. Also, the middle class present in modern-day America is nonexistent here, with just the upper and lower class. Fortunately, there's not too much of a gap between the upper and lower classes. Compared to some ancient Terran civilizations, the wealth is spread out relatively evenly. But the divide is definitely there.

Other Traits: Humans are the dominant species of this empire, mainly due to the fact that they are the reason the Drakoniid gained intragalactic travel.

History: The Diarchy is a relatively new nation, beginning only about a thousand years in the past. Before the arrival of the humans in the galaxy, which resulted in a scattering of them throughout the Eden Galaxy. One such ship, a scientific vessel meant to find new worlds that support life and gather data on them and the life that inhabits it. The ship, known as the USS Glory, and its crew got more than they bargained for when they stumbled upon Aenaea, which contained the first nonhuman sentient species the crew had ever encountered. The Drakoniid, as they learned to call them, had long since advanced beyond the need for residing in tunnels and created large fortified cities on the surface, capable of defending against the horrors that inhabited it. They were still relatively primitive, around the state humans were in during the 21st century of Earth. The humans decided to help these creatures, and gave them intragalactic travel capabilities. The humans of the Glory struck an alliance with the Drakoniid, and soon they merged into a single nation known as the Aenaean Diarchy. Over the next ten centuries or so, they would rapidly advance, with the humans steadily sharing more and more technology. However, they never gave the Drakoniid technology that would lead to them gaining intergalactic travel.

    Army:
Information: The military of the Diarchy is solely for defense. The Diarchy hasn't any interest in conquering other nations through military might.
Recruitment: About 5% of the nation volunteers, with humans being the bulk of the military.
Size: About 75 billion ready to battle, with around 100000 in training at any given time.
Structure: They have some semblance of organization, though they don't really have very many actual ranks. Those in leadership tend to be lieutenants, with the head of the military being a general.

    Unit List

    Navy: The Aenaean Armada
Information: This is definitely the strong point of the Aenaean military. Most of the Diarchy's military funds go into its armada, giving them a strong spacefaring defense compared to their lackluster ground forces. The main motivation for a strong navy is the need to protect their trade ships.
Recruitment: About 15% of the population goes into the navy. Like the army, the majority of the navy is human, due to the greater motivation to take military action that the humans have.
Size: About 750 billion people are ready for deployment, with about five million in training at any given time.
Structure: Significantly more organized than the army. They have most of the same ranks as the United States Navy, with the two Diarchs heading the navy.

    Unit List

    Race Name: Drakoniid

NPCable: Not at the moment. They are pretty much only found in the sectors around and within the Biarchy. I'll allow Drakoniid NPC's whenever they get more spread out through the galaxy.

Population: About 800 billion, with around 4 billion on their homeworld.

Habitat: They prefer hot and arid climates, though, they can semi-adapt to other types of climates through their inherent shapeshifting ability.

Appearance: Their appearance is very draconic, while still remaining humanoid. They have wings, though they are vestigial. Their skeletal structure is similar to humans, with some fundamental differences in skull, leg, foot, and hand structure. Their legs have a total of three joints, excluding the one connecting the leg to the hip. Their leg bones are arranged in a similar fashion to that of a dog's hind legs, with the same basic shape. However, their legs are more well-muscled than that of a dog. They have similar muscle structures to humans, though they are a bit beefier. Their snouts are fairly slender, almost lizardlike, though they still resemble the muzzles of dragons. Their ears don't protrude from their head, but are similar to that of a frog. They appear to be just skin stretched over a cavity in their skull with sensory nerves to pick up sound. They have noticeable crests, with that of the females being larger. Like with most reptiles, the females are larger than the males. Size and voice are pretty much the only way to tell a male from a female. They are covered with very fine scales, giving their flesh a texture that's more leathery than rough.

Physiology: They have a natural ability to shapeshift. Later on, when they ventured to the surface, they invented a device that could remove mass and send it through an interdimensional portal, allowing them to size-shift. They must keep their mass the same, so when they shift into smaller things, they move the extra mass into this other dimension that they call the Out. This same principle also limits them to things with the same mass as them or less. The mass moves with them as they do. The shapeshifting also includes changing color.

Personality: Generally, they are peace-loving creatures that are very easy to get along with. Arrogance has happened, though it's not that common among them. However, they also tend to be a bit naive at times.

Lifespan/Birth/Aging: Their lifespan is considerably longer than that of humans, reaching into the thousands of years. Due to their draconic nature, they don't seem to age very quickly, though they tend to grow larger as they get older. They tend to reach a maximum height of about eight feet tall before they stop growing, which, on average, is around 500 years of age. Once they reach about 3000, they are considered elderly. Like humans, they are born live, not out of eggs.

    Language: English, Draconic

Religion: Like humans, their religious beliefs vary widely. Some are monotheistic, some polytheistic. Then there are ones that don't have a religion.

Culture: They put a lot of emphasis on the natural world. Even now, they tend to separate into "Lairs" led by a single Drakoniid known as a Shaman. Though, this isn't actually a tribal Shaman, because the role hasn't any religious impact. The Shaman is just a leader. However, the Shaman is required to give his advice indirectly, as a cultural aspect. This leaves the other Drakoniids to work together to figure out what the Shaman is trying to say, then act upon it. This is beneficial to the group, because it promotes unity.

Advantage Traits: Long-lived, cool-tempered, able to shapeshift

Disadvantage Traits: Poor motivation for military actions, can be naive on occasion, cannot shift into things bigger than they are

Other Traits: None that I can think of at the moment.

History: The Drakoniid started out at the bottom of the food chain. They were constantly hunted by predators, and, as a result, they took to the underground, using their ability to shape rock to dig tunnels to live in. For millenia, they lived like this, until they evolved to the point of grouping into Lairs. With the Lairs formed, they ventured to the surface and built their lairs, which, with further evolution, would evolve into city-like Lairs, with each one headed by their own Shaman. It was at this point that they were contacted by the humans and presented with their first interstellar drive, being uplifted to become one of the races spreading through the Eden Galaxy, with the aid of the humans hailing from the Milky Way galaxy. From here, their history becomes that of the Diarchy.

Pyrak has a race in sector 76, so I'd check up with him to see if you can still control that sector or not.
    .
How can they move mass into another dimension? I'll allow for some scifi here to be a stretch, but some explanations would still be needed for things like this. If they can also change the shape of nonliving materials, they're using some sort of device, right?

Yeah, the nonliving material shifting was pushing it a bit. And I'm not sure how else they'll change shape, unless they just get denser as they size shift. That was the best explanation I could come up with for the size changing. I suppose I could make the size-shifting technological instead of physiological, and leave the shapeshifting as a physiological trait.

Okay, how's that? I'll PM pyrak about the sector, and if he says no, I'll move them to 54, 64, and 65.

I'm glad some people posted today, but it looks I don't have anything to say for the time being. Just for the record, since some time has passed, I would think it's be plausible for a probe to be found in anyone's space in my side of the galaxy now. Also, Imma have some ships start nosing around after a few posts as not all of them were sent to the one that was discovered.

Also, how many planetary systems are in a sector?

  8. #388
Considering the number of stars in a galaxy, I'd think it'd be as many as you want, but that's just my opinion.

Yeah, looking at the map, there are probably hundreds of thousands of stars in each sector. So, yeah. I think each sector has a limitless supply of star systems for the purposes of an RP.
