- Yatagarasu: A high-level demon that possesses the bodies of long-lived crows, they have three legs and are often used as guides and messengers. Many of them have power over light and are effective against lesser demons. They also have the habit of imparting advice, both good and bad.
- Kelpie: A mid-level demon found in water, they come from Celtic mythology described as water horses.
- Weapons
- Tizona: Nicknamed after the sword of El Cid in Spanish legend, it is summoned through the earth by using a runic symbol made from blood drawn on the summoner's hand and the chant: "The earth was torn asunder, for the unworthy may flee their judgement from the heavens." It is a two-handed sword with a fish-tail pommel. The grip is quite long, allowing Verla to swing it around with two hands. Tizona has the disadvantages of being heavy, around 3lbs, and requiring soil or rock in the earth to summon.
Personality: A very headstrong girl, Verla likes powering through things and situations by herself. She believes that having help is necessary, but when people are on their own, they are in control of their own destiny. Verla can also be very talkative and often will yammer on and on about everything around them, even in a battle. Due to her nature, she tends to jump into bad situations head-first without thinking and can be very stubborn once her mind is made up. Regardless, Verla can be quite calculating when giving these things some thought. She is afraid of dying and letting everyone down, a major part of the reasons why she is so headstrong.
History: Born into a family of Exorcists in Spain, Verla was able to see demons from the age of ten after surviving a demon attack in the streets of her hometown, Madrid. Seeing her potential for being an Exorcist, her parents taught her on the basics and then later, the finer points of demon-slaying, mostly in the field of swordplay and combat up close. After her father died, Verla inherited one of the swords passed down through her father's side of the family, Tizona. It was a huge thing, and she was unable to wield it, preferring the lighter weight of rapiers and sabers.
When she was 13, her mother sent her abroad to True Cross Academy to study any of the fields she wished to study and to get a taste of the world out there. She quickly found that she had horrible aim as a Dragoon and disliked the memorization of holy texts to become an Aria. The field of Doctors didn't suit her, and it only left the Summoners. In her first class, Verla summoned a fox spirit, delighted. She continued to train in swords and demonology, becoming a Lower 1st Class by the time she turned 20.
Currently, she is training hard to move up through the ranks towards becoming an Arc Knight.
