    -----------------------

It wasn't long now, not long before Hogwarts Express would leave King's Cross, and for the last time, Devon Pearce would be boarding the train at the beginning of the year. The chestnut haired girl was ready for it though, she looked forward to being able to graduate and go on to study for a possible teaching career or even to be an auror. Either way, she would be working to help others, and that was all the pale emerald eyed girl ever wanted to do. Perhaps, it was what drew her to an odd group of boys and her dear friend Selia. Running a hand through her long locks of hair, Devon scanned the crowd around the train for her friends, but shortly after decided to just get on the train and find them a compartment to sit in.

A smile was painted on her face when she found one, and flopped down on one of the seats, and with a long sigh she looked out to see the rest of the students running about, saying goodbye to their parents and saying hello to their friends. It was always a good memory that came to mind when she thought about getting on the train. She remembered her first train ride and how she had accidentally tripped over one of her now friends. Remus Lupin. She had been pushed about by the crowd, and lost her footing and brought him to the ground with her. It was after that, however, that he offered her a place to sit with he and his friends and the wonderful blossom began to bloom. She loved her friends with all her heart and would do anything for them, but where Remus could come to terms with his little "secret" she couldn't.

That brought an odd train of thought into her mind. There had been rumors flying about all summer about darker things coming, but she didn't want to believe them at all. Even those whom she found out that only she could see were buzzing about it, warning her. She knew that the likelihood of it all wasn't all too odd, but she didn't want to believe that in what was supposed to be her best year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, was going to bring on such a bad omen. She hoped that her secret didn't slip out either, she just wasn't completely sure on how they would look at her after that. She feared the rejection most.

With a sigh she noticed her friends in the car and opened the door. "Hey guys, in here!" she smiled, and she greeted Remus with a hug first, seeing as he was the first one to come into the compartment and then Sirius, James, Selia, and even Peter. "Again we're crammed like sardines in a compartment, but aren't you excited?" at least her hyper aura wasn't something that was about to change. "It's our last year, think how much fun we'll have!"

King's Cross was packed to say the very least. His eyes scanned the crowds, lazily, and with a smile and a laugh he found someone he was looking for. Sirius Black had spotted one of his best friends, Remus Lupin. With a bit of a jog, he caught up to his friend before the crowd closed in around him. "There you are Moony." he nudged Remus a bit. "You seen the others?" he asked him continuing to scan the crowd. "I lost James a while back, and I have yet to see Peter, Selia, and Devon."

The joys of platform 9 3/4. It was always bustling when it was opened, with a playfully serious look [one that Sirius was sure he had invented] he looked about the crowd, finally spotting the brunette hairfrom of one of their group. The lovely Selia. Why two girls like Selia and Devonand were friends with them still baffled him to this day, but they were fun, cool, and accepting. Sirius looked to Remus. "Found Selia, come on, let's catch up to her, maybe she's seen everyone else." he suggested, navigating through the crowds that threatened to swallow them up and never spit them out. He made it to his goal and smiled.

"Hey there,Se , you seen anyone else? I found Remus. He should be here shortly." he greeted her with a signature grin and nudge. He never nudged her as roughly as he did James, Remus, or Peter, but he did like to bump into her. Maybe that was just his personality? However, the moment was very short lived as the crowd seemed to be pushing them towards the train cars. Sirius loved it. It was always a rush, but sometimes he wondered how there were never any angry mobs about on this day of the year. It certainly seemed like there would be with all the pushing and shoving, but aside from that, he had no clue.

Oddly enough, it seemed like the sea of people knew just who to push together as the small group was now only lacking one face, who pulled them into a compartment and greeted them, happily. "Hey, Pearce. How you managed to get onto the train undetected I won't ever figure out." he chuckled, and soon he found himself stuck between James and Selia, leaving Remus between Peter and Devon. It was like it was there assigned seating for the beginning of the year anymore... Or whenever they sat anywhere for that matter. He didn't mind it, but at Devon's notion he nodded. "I am ready. We're going to make this the best year ever. No questions asked."

Selia was excited, but not more excited than she had been at the beginning of previous years at Hogwarts. A new year always brought new expectations, new goals, and new lessons in her classes. She loved magic, loved everything about it. Especially Transfiguration, as that was her favorite class. As she arrived at King's Cross station, she smiled at the familiarity. She walked along, finding the barrier she knew so well, and leaned against it as calmly as she could. She knew no muggles would pay her any attention, but she still tried to be cautious. She stepped out onto the other side, onto Platform 9 3/4 and looked around. She wondered if her friends had arrived yet.

As she walked along, pulling her trunk behind her, she ran her free hand through her long dark hair. Her eyes swept the Platform as she looked for her friends. She stopped walking, thinking that sooner or later someone would find her, and looked up at the clock. Ten minutes until the train left. Thinking maybe she should board the train and look for a compartment, she heard a familiar voice from behind her. She turned around and was greeted by a playful nudge from none other than Sirius Black himself. She had a soft spot when it came to Sirius Black. They had been friends since first year and she always fancied him, though she would admit it to no one except perhaps Devon. "Hey Sirius," She said and then shook her head, "No I haven't yet found anyone. I just arrived myself. I'm sure Devon is already on the train, you know her, she likes to get a compartment early,"

She looked around thinking Remus might be close and then saw him a little way off, "Have you not found James and Peter yet?" She asked and then waved her free hand as if it doesn't matter, "Let's just get on the train hm? I'm sure they'll catch up once we leave," She said and then turned around, making her way towards the train. She wanted to make sure that they made it on time, and if they didn't hurry they would miss the train. She hoisted her luggage onto the train and then smiled, "I see James, he's approaching Remus now," She pointed.

Remus was more serious than his other friends, he usually wasn't the one to crack jokes or pull pranks. Then again, he never attempted to stop them either. He enjoyed the company of Sirius, James, Devon, and the others. He didn't understand why or how he had become such close friends with all of them, but he was thankful he had. They accepted him for his flaws, the biggest one being the most important. They even helped him out with his "furry little problem" as James liked to call it. It meant a great deal to him, and so he was glad for his years at Hogwarts.

But this year was the last, and so Remus would have to decide what he wanted to do with his life and where he was going to end up. He wasn't sure yet, thought maybe he could become a member of the Ministry. But then, it was hard for someone in his situation to land a job, or so he was told. Not many people wanted to deal with a werewolf, and so he needed to be careful. He knew that Professor Dumbledore would be there for him, maybe he would become a teacher. He really had no idea, and as he thought about this he was surprised when Sirius came up to him. He could barely get a word in before Sirius sped off to go talk to Selia. Shaking his head a little, a smile on his face, he stood there waiting.

"Hey there Moony," He heard a voice say and turned in that direction. James Potter was walking up to him, trunk in hand, his hair as messy as always.
"Hey Prongs, good summer?" He asked conversationally. He was glad to see his best friend, wondering what the jokester had spent the summer doing. He could see it now, James pulling pranks on the neighbors and practicing Quidditch in the woods. James was the athletic one, along with Sirius. He himself spent more time on his studies, wanting to get top marks in everything if possible.
"Oh you know, pranked some people, played some Quidditch," James said offhandedly.
"So same old same old," Remus said with a grin.
"Pretty much," James said and gestured to the train, "Fancy finding the others?"
Remus followed James, wondering what this year would bring them.

Devon sat in the compartment for a little while longer before Peter finally joined her and took his spot closest to the door on the side she was sitting on and she smiled to him. “Hey there Peter.” she greeted and he just waved at her slightly. She looked around and finally got up and caught sight of Sirius and Selia and waved to them. “Over here, Selia! Sirius!” she called to them, waving them over to the compartment and soon engulfing Selia in a hug. “It’s good to see you. Have you guys seen Remus and James?” she asked.

Yes, Devon was already asking about Remus and James. She had feelings for the former. Remus had always held a special place in her heart, and she had only told Selia of her feelings for him, though she was sure her lack of being able to hide it was going to give her away. This year would be the year to finally tell him, but every time she thought about it her stomach was sent into nervous knots, and finally they boarded the train and she pulled them into the compartment and wrapped her arms around Remus.

“You two were about to get pushed past us, I figured I’d pull you in.” she told them and James gave her a goofy grin.

“Thanks Dev.” he said before plopping down beside Sirius, across from Peter. He looked to his friends as Devon sat down near the window and he smiled. “How was everyone’s summers?” he asked.

Sirius was glad to catch up to Selia, at least that was one last person he would have to find. Still, when she suggested getting on the train he nodded. He watched as she pointed over to James and Remus and he nodded as they were pushed onto the train by the others in the crowds. Then a tug came and he saw Devon and Peter already in a compartment and he chuckled watching the two girls embrace. “Nice to see you too, Dev.” he commented, but she went back to the compartment door and when the rest of their group went by she pulled them in as well and hugged Remus.

There were things about Devon and Remus that were totally obvious to others, but totally unseen by the two that were embracing. He could tell Remus had something for her, but he never said anything. Just like he was sure that Remus had seen the way that Sirius looked at Selia. He couldn’t help it, Selia was a wonderful and fiery young woman and he admired that about he. Sometimes he wondered if she ever felt the same, but he had also seen the way that other boys had looked at their girls.

They looked at them like lost puppies, and soon James asked about their summers and Sirius rolled his eyes. “Far from fun, but you know how my family is.” he sighed a bit. “I got to sit at home and listen to Bella and Narcissa obsess over Lucius and Rodolphus.” he gagged slightly and leaned back in his chair. “What about you, Remus?” he asked him, motioning over to the boy sitting across from him.
