[OOC] Escape from the 'Labyrinth of Arktos' [a.k.a. Arktos Mental Asylum]

It's that kind of place where people are easily overlooked; labels pasted firmly upon foreheads of the 'insane', but no classifications as to whether they're brilliant or brainless. Set upon a small island approximately two kilometres from mainland, with the shore's rocky base as its fence and the crashing waves below as the final safeguard - for civilians or the patients, nobody really knows. One way in, one out: boat. Of course there are guards with guns and all that other modern technology, but it's not needed, right? The corridors themselves are like a labyrinth, and doctors patrol in their white lab coats and shiny black shoes, hypodermic needles at the ready with harmless tranquilliser. Call it a 'home' if you like, to restore relatives' normal lives.

It's a prison, no doubt about that. A squeaky-clean cage draining government funding and attracting clients under the promise of a happy life, as normal as their condition permits. Their condition and their straitjackets, that is.

"Our objective put plainly is first and foremost the well-being of our patients."

Because if they are allowed re-entry into society the consequences could be fatal for both themselves and others.

"We at Arktos cater for the most critical of conditions, and with advanced modern treatments at our disposal we are able to provide a comfortable life to those most in need."

We keep them under near-permanent sedation, practically chained up to prevent any injuries to the staff, themselves, or others.

"They are perceived as potential threats to the outer community."

    They are insane.

"No we are not. We are gifted."

    PATIENTS [1-2 to begin with]
You 'brainless' patients plot and execute a successful break-out of Arktos. Doctors have overlooked the possibility for such an event to take place, therefore the alarm is raised too late. Over dinner, perhaps, when the attendance list displays empty boxes in which should be placed a tick. After escape, they each set forth upon a quest of their own, ranging from extracting revenge to contacting loved ones. They begin as near-harmless citizens, blending into society. They either work in conjunction with the other escapees, or at least keep in close contact.
But soon your escape is noticed; you are now being hunted. You become stressed, and your behaviour reflects this, whether it be more obvious actions or more guarded, the choice is your own. Guided by your 'disorder', you attempt to avoid re-capture in whichever way you can, working alongside your fellow 'inmates'. If captured, - for we don't want to make things too unfair - perhaps you'll need to escape again. Just give them the taste of you they were after first.

You are smart, remember? Despite your 'disability', and although you cannot always control it, you are smart.

Bi-Polar disorder: or 'manic-depressive disorder'; a 'mood' disorder in which periods of 'mania' are alternated with symptoms of depression.
    • Signs & Symptoms: [Low] Mania: Energetic or excitable, irritable. [Higher] Hypomania: Erratic or impulsive, decreased need for sleep. [Highest] Psychotic behaviour, possibly accompanied by violence, hallucinations, and depression. [Mixed] Both mania and depression symptoms. [Depressive] Sadness, anxiety, anger, self-loathing.

Disassociative Identity Disorder: or 'multiple-personality disorder'; characterised by at least two distinct and enduring identities which alternately control an individual. It is also associated by memory impairment.
    • Signs & Symptoms: [Primary identity] Holds the given names, and tends to be somewhat passive, and even guilty or depressed. [Secondary identity(s)] Tend to be more active and aggressive, even hostile, and contains more complete memories. [Other] Amnesia [psychogenic or disassociative]; identities are often not aware of each other, leading to gaps in the memory and chaotic personal lives.

    Paranoid Personality Disorder:

    Schizophrenia:

    PROFESSIONALS [2-3 to begin with]
You truly know the danger these escapees could cause; while civilians live their ordinary lives, you hunt of the patients of Arktos, day and night. The doctors have confided in precious few to recover these missing persons, and if the press gets hold of this, it means a ruined business and jobs for these specialists. It means the community panics, and the police are run to the ground with exhaustion, attempting to control it. So you work in secrecy.
You are ever wary, for to be caught means to be hunted. You have excellent resources at your disposal though, and expect full results from your investment. The specialists know these figures better than anyone, save perhaps the psychologists and psychiatrists. Why? Because you look after them. The police and investigators go along what you tell them.

    Specialist:

    Psychologist:

    Psychiatrist:

    Private Investigator:

    Police Officer:

CIVILIANS [2-3 to begin with. NPCs can be used.]

So! When can we get our Character Sheets up? Anytime, or should we wait a bit?

EDIT: Never mind. I saw that the templates need to be added!
