Persona 4 Golden(And the original too)

Okay so, I'm not sure if this is the proper section because I never post here, but I assume it is as I've seen other game-related threads here. With that being said, I'll get straight to the point.

So, yes, I am one of the few who owns a Playstation Vita lol. I say the few because it seems like it's popular to hate on it as of now, but that's beside the point. Anyway, I recently bought P4G after reading about all the hype surrounding the Persona series, and I must say, good lord is it ever addicting @@. For those who don't know, Persona is part of the Shin Megami Tensei series of games, a spin-off of the main branch at that. Anyhow, the quality of this game is beyond the hype and then some. I truly didn't expect for it to turn out this fucking good haha. I catch myself losing a significant amount of time in my day to this game as I happily grind away or do one of the many things you are able to do.

The purpose of this topic is just to see who here plays this series of games, and with this one in particular, do you think Persona 4 is the current best in the series? I've never played a Persona game before this one, so my mind was blown to hell. It almost makes no sense how just purely fun and engrossing it is. I was suckered in within the first couple of hours haha. I'm currently 60 hours in and I've had the game for a little over a week haha. I would say I'm about halfway through the main story, but I can't really be sure with all the twists and turns and such lol. It just feels like it, and based on the in-game calender, I'd think I have a ways to go before I reach any sort of ending.

Anyway, to reiterate, do you think Persona 4 is the best in the series and what do you specifically like, love, or even dislike about it? Also, no spoilers please. I haven't finished and I'd really like to be surprised as I have been thus far haha. Currently, I have no complaints whatsoever, but the battle system is seriously nicotine. I can't stop grinding and I HATE grinding in RPGs, so that's saying something haha. Again, no spoilers when discussing please TT.

Persona 2 is the best persona. Especially Innocent Sin.
And inside all the Shin Megami Tensei games (including spin offs as Persona) I'll say that Nocturne is the best.

    Regarding Persona

    Persona 2 >Persona 4>Persona 3>Persona 1

And I made a SMT thread to talk about the whole series the other day

Ah, I hadn't seen a thread about it, and when I searched and found an SMT thread, it was on some old page of this board. My mistake, I must have searched badly hahaha.

I've only played P4, so I can't speak to your decision, but I can ask why you feel that P2 is better haha?

Persona 2 has a more dark and crazed story.
You even fight with Hitler as a boss battle
And well all the plot is about how an eldritch abomination trolls two characters in love, to the point that it even erase the world in some point only to be stoped by its counterpart.

Nyarlathotep is probably one of the biggest troll in SMT franchise... really a bastard

Aah, okay. Yeah, I imagined what Persona would be like as a more dark and mature story while playing through this one(not that this one is bad because of its more light-hearted nature). I heard that the systems are employed differently in the earlier Persona games though, and that P3 and P4 are representative of how it is now. It made me not want to play the old games at all.

Having P4G on Vita is nice though, I don't think I could play this sitting in front of one TV the whole time haha. The portability is a huge plus in my opinion.

Yeah inside a very dark series as SMT is. Persona 3 and 4 are pretty light compared to the rest.

I see. I may need to check out the earlier games then, I think they are on PSN. I've seen P3 up there anyway. Playing P4 has made me want to play all the games somewhat haha. Though, I spoiled myself on P3, so I don't know if I'd play it knowing the entire plot as of now haha(To be fair though, I'm pretty sure I've figured out the remaining twists in P4G haha).

Yeah but, the PSN has those games as PSOne Classics and PS2 Classics, if you didn't know haha. P3P is up there too and you can play it on VITA, which is what I own P4G on. Though, I'm not sure about playing on my PS3. Like I said, I'd have a hard time with such an engrossing game sitting in front of a huge TV o_o.
