They put their lives at risk needlessly because they would rather kill something or bang it than just talk things out. Seriously, they got to live longer, so you would think they would be smarter than this. This is also what makes me curious why vampires are not at all bothered by the massive age difference. Vampire pedophilia must be the worst concept I've ever had the misfortune of crossing my mind.
Vampires can overcome weaknesses in ways that are far too convenient. Vampires using sunscreen is the dumbest excuse I have ever heard. Really any weakness they have is a non-factor because they are too super powerful to even be hit. Which brings me to the next point.
Vampires have to possess super everything, and only other undead/supernatural are ever put against them. Super speed, super strength, enhanced reaction time, flying, invisibility, control over spirits, immortality, mind control, the ability to turn something else into a vampire, and highly acute senses of smell and sight are all common traits among vampires. The only things vampires ever fight are from the supernatural group, and honestly it gets old.
Vampires rarely take a neutral role, and are color-coded for our convenience. If a vampire is bad, it is really terrible, cruel, and just an all around jerk. If a vampire is good, they are confused and emotional. Seriously, can't someone change it up a little? I would love to see more vampires which act in a way that makes it hard to pin down their motives. The kind that might love someone one day, and kill them the next. Maybe a little guilt is good, but nobody wants to hear the 'because I'm a vampire' speech.
Vampires have the lousiest target audience ever. There is a reason all of the above things are happening, and it is all their fault for relating to such emotionally unstable characters.
