    The Glacier [OOC]

NOTE: RP IS CANCELLED, REWORK CONSIDERED.

Hundred years ago the climate of Earth changed dramatically. The entire surface of Earth was covered in ice and snow for this time, killing the giant part of the Earth life. The weather became colder, always cloudy and dark. And as if this wasn't enough to wipe out humanity from the Earth, strange anomalies and horribly mutated creatures appeared in the wastelands.

The remaining humans met the animal men without hostility, at first, as they were the first of mutants to come, and they weren't hostile. The two races were living in equality, often making the best use of their abilities to help each other. However, the peace couldn't survive for long and in some places racism broke out and the civil wars started.

One of the few remaining humanity settlements is located in the Siberia, in the mining shafts and the cave systems of Ural mountains. The cave settlement called Novo-Chelyabinsk (New-Chelyabinsk for some, Novochel for short), that was called after a city with the same name, was the only settlement that did something more than simply survival. This was the only settlement to have a public library, hospital, organised control. Yet even they didn't dare to walk too far from their mountainhome.

The times change, and when people think that they are safe after a cataclysm had struck the world, they are always wrong. After some years of safety and stability, everything is going to change. The engineers that were constructing the train would suddenly disappear, the methane in the mineshafts would go off, the defenses would be finally destroyed... But no one knew about this yet.

You are the citizen of Novo-Chelyabinsk and on your job you've noticed an unusual change. But who you are? A scientist that picked up a strange signal? An engineer that was ambushed outside the city? A medic finding unique disease? A badass Navigator that lost all the people in his squad to a new monster? But you are one of the few that expirienced the problems first...

    =Setting=

We would be roleplaying as the people living in Novochel, an underground settlement located in the series of connected bunkers, cave systems and mines. Novochel people managed to preserve the biggest part of the human glory inside, as they've been collecting books in their giant library, managed to open schools, get their own source of electricity (something about underwater rivers, something about wind power and something about methane from the deep mines) and even construct their own Internet in this. What is more, Novochel is capable of producing food on their own (animal farming and mushroom farming), sustain some basic industries and even provide incredible defenses from the mutant creatures. The government is powerful there.

As I've said before, Novochel is a settlement in the caves. However, the biggest part of them remains unexplored and uninhabited. Defensive outposts are set up to prevent mutants from flanking the community from the caves, if at least one of them has got the unknown entrance to the surface. The deepest place where explorers managed to get is located in one of the cave branches, where the walls are wide, ceiling is high and danger isn't present. However, at the deepest part of the cave, lots of methane was discovered, and exploration was stopped. The second attempt at deep exploration - this time in the abandoned mineshaft met the same problem.

Novochel is an organised settlement. Some people even call it the City, as they are fairly sure that only Novochel was able to suistain the peace and safety along with knowledge and technology. The settlement has four entrances to the surface. The Main Entrance is the biggest and the most dangerous out of all four, as guarding it is very dangerous due to it's sheer size (scientists are still puzzled about the nature of this gianting thing). However, the big wall of concrete and metal was built, leaving a tiny opening for a door that could only fit a big car. The second entrance is located few kilometers away and is facing an old railroad station. The people try to construct a powerful train there to explore other places. However, doing this is dangerous and the engineers are always guarded by a big squad to repel the mutated creatures. The third entrance is the entrance to the abandoned caves that Novochel people decided to connect to their settlement. It's rarely used and for the past time no creature even came near this entrance, so it's importance to the people is questionable. The last entrance is the most secure entrance and is leading to the bunker. It's the only entrance that has got a proper radiation shielding gate and this gate also offers the great protection from any intruding creature.

As for items and constructions inside, they are vastly different. The govermental bunkers have high-class furniture, advanced technology (TVs, computers ohmygod) and are generally living as the people used to live (minus sun, no ability to participate in corruption and not so much safety). The bunker also is a home to the high-class technological specialists, school, hospital and library. The technological sectors are usually caves filled with workshops, materials, incomplete items, complete items, tools, wires, generators, lamps and such things. Those sectors are one of the most eerie - even the purely scientific parts of it (that have scientific gear and computers!) are looking simply creepy. Of course they would - proletariat in the cave, as if you live among the Morlocks. It's especially scary if you meet a rat-man there. The farming sectors aren't much better - entering them without a gaz mask is nearly impossible, especially for the predators, as the smell there is just incredible. The farming sectors feature their own ecosphere, created by "the eggheads from this biological research sector". The farming animals are adapted to eat the mushrooms that grow there (and they were grown for this enviroment by the same scientists) and those animals are then getting butchered in the same sector. Blood, bones, meat and excrements are all lying around, and if it's useful outside this place (bones, meat) they are stored in the boxes. Sometimes you may find a refrigirator, but this technological beauty isn't saving anyone from the terrible smell, and just adds to overall heat inside. Speaking of heat. The living sectors are heated by the every means possible. The summer temperatures outside the city reach -50 C and thus the city needs a damn good source of warmth. Due to this, a massive boiler system was built, working on the local electricity power to provide people with warmth. The tubes also recieve heat from technological sectors, on the heat producing industries. And the living sectors are the most unique in general. The different constructions are built to provide housing for different families and they vary from tiny ground shacks to vast ceiling mini-houses. The poor people store their possessions in the boxes and crates outside their houses and those that are more wealthy can afford making bigger houses (in caves, yeah) to contain their stuff. In addition to simple houses, the shops and different workshops can be seen in the cave, offering goods to the people living there.

Also, the animal-men mentioned in the story are typical anthros. I expect that people would be mostly playing as them, but I won't mind against any human character, since they would totally make sense in this story. Those are simply refered by other people as the animal they represent (as such, a husky-man would be simply called husky, bear-man would be called a bear and etc.) Those creatures are the biggest part of the Novochel population, however animal man in the government is a rare sight, Humans are much more active in this sphere (they, however, let some Alphas to enter the governmental seats as the representatives of their race).

As for mutants... Be creative! There are no flora eating creatures left (as if there was any flora left to begin with), and the evolution gone mad trying to pit the equally strong predators against each other. While you should generally avoid mentioning mutants without GM's approval anywhere, from bio to actual roleplaying, if you would I generally have only two rules on them: Be creative and be sensible.

Oh, and I've mentioned Navigators in the story. Those people are the walking encyclopaedias about most of mutants and dangers outside the city. They can safely navigate through the Wasteland and they are usually leading people to the other places.

As for anomalies I've mentioned before, it would be a surprise, but expect something close to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. if you know what am I speaking about. The only ones who know about them are the Navigators - if your character's profession is Navigator, I'll PM you about the nearby anomalies. As for rest, the surprise is going to be there as plot would force people outside the city.

The main weapons in this world are those that don't require something rare to work well, those include but not limited to bows, crossbows, swords, railguns (from bow to railgun, yeah) and any other homecrafted weapons. The manufactured weapons are rare, and the ammo for gunpowder based weapons is rare as well, so they are not very popular choice among the people of Novochel. The Navigators never take electricity based weaponry for their expeditions as it's hard to generate power in the field and the weapons that use electrons tend to use them in giant quanities. The most popular weapons for far adventures are crossbows, bows and melee weapons, and gunpowder based weapons are mostly used when the things get REALLY ugly.

The economics of Novochel are the mix of administrative and market systems with barther and money usage being nearly equal to each other. While people are allowed to sell their crafts at any price they like (market system), some government funded industries and services, like power generation, internet, heating or guarding of entire city have their prices and payment set by the governmental people responsible for this. And while the money (The currency used there is Rouble, Dollar (30 RUB) and Euro (40 RUB)) is still accepted, some people resort to selling and buying the items they need with other items.

Oh, and by the way, two main languages used in the Novochel are English and Russian.

    Character list:
    None yet.

    =Rules=

    1. Be polite.
    2. Be efficent. (No one-liners, use good grammar and etc.)
    3. Make sense (No OP characters, no godmodding, no power-playing, no taking control of other characters and other people's NPCs without permission, no stupid stuff, no unrealistic stuff, no sudden character changes without a reason, no out of setting stuff)
    4. No back-n-forth speedposting (I am fine with fast posting if everyone would be online and everyone involved would reply)
    5. GM is the law here.
    6. Most of the content in posts is allowed, but avoid overusing it if it's a "taboo" one (swearing, discrimination, drugs). The overly detalied gore is not allowed and the sex scenes should be kept in PMs.

    =Character Application Skeleton=
Name: - A first/second name, nickname, and etc.
Age: - The age of your character. Be reasonable.
Gender: - oh guise i dunno wut is gender (Actually, if you don't know what to put there, shame on you)
Race: - Human/Animal-Man (if the latter, state the animal as well)
Appearance: - Picture will suffice, but, please, don't use generic images and the images that don't fit in setting because I am sick of seeing anime characters that don't fit in the reality of the RP at all. If you won't use picture (and I hope you won't because of the reason above), write at least a paragraph about the physical look and a paragraph about the clothing.
Profession: - The profession of your character. Depending on what you choose, you will get different start, skills and etc. Moreover depending on your choice of profession, I will PM you different information about the setting. Also, don't choose pointless professions. No one needs a "Hitman" in this enviroment, but the "Thief" may work. And know the limits of your job - programmers aren't needed outside technological and governmental sectors and they are not skilled in guns as much as the Navigators are.
Items: - Items of your character. Nothing overpowered (TAKCTICHUL NEWK OLOLOL), nothing nonsense (Plazma gun that heals teammates with alt-fire and uses no ammo :]), nothing out of setting (Minigun and flamethrower, I am so sorry.). Include important parts of clothing (as important as ammo pouches, backpacks, armor) and mundane items (food rations, forks, however we might get this stuff while roleplaying, so taking this makes sense only for late joined roleplayers)
Skills and Traits: - The skills and special traits of your character. Don't make Mary Sue charactets (AKA a character so awesome that the universe spins around it) and don't make overpowered characters (it's not fun to have an OP character and it's a damn headache for GMs). When choosing skills and traits, take your race and job in account (All felines, for example, have great flexibility, sharp senses (especially visual), great kinestetic sense and claws. Cheetaths also have sprinter traits in addition to it. And if someone's job is Navigator, they have great enviromental awareness, memory, reflexes and knowledge of guns.)
Negative qualities: - There must be something that makes your character weaker in some fields, compared to average people. What are those qualities? As with Skills and Traits, keep in mind the profession and race of your character (Felines, for example, are more "fragile" when compared to humans, and they have poor long-term attention span (oooooh, shiny :3). The expirienced farmers would have problems with smell and the paperworkers in government would have a lot of trouble in doing everything the ordinary folk can do with ease)
Background: - A story of your character. I would be glad if it would be long and interesting, and very short backgrounds equal automatic refusal of your character.
Other: - In case the app doesn't cover something (How O_O ).

    Name: Maxwell Brink
    Age: 29
    Gender: Male
    Race: Wolf
Profession: The Counsellor of Power Distribution, aka member of the government
Appearance: Mr. Brink uses lots of time to take care of himself. His medium-length jet black fur shines brightly when it comes into contact with light, and the white stripes that pass over his green eyes only make it look darker. His claws are always kept well in shape, and sharp enough to be of use, but dull enough not to make scratch marks on everything and slash the papers he needs to handle at work. His tail is not that long (that would mean slightly shorter than average), but it is extra "fluffy". It retains the colour scheme of his other body parts, which means it is simply black. He is in a fit shape, due to him exercising just enough to keep that shape, but not grow more muscle. He happens to be a bit shorter than an average human. And a bit of his fangs: They are kept in a flawless condition. White and sharp, with no failure in their bite.

"Due" to his job (he would probably do that anyway) Maxwell wears a gray suit with some little more light stripes, specifically tailored for him, a top hat with a small lightning bolt emblem just above it's brim, and a pair of rather oddly shaped shoes. The shoes are only for work though, as the city is warm enough to move around without them, and they are not the most comfortable garments out there. He does use a dark green collared shirt under his suit, and he is sometimes (although rarely) seen with a tie.
Items: Mr. Brink carries around a six-chambered revolver (usually with five shots loaded, so the hammer can rest on one of the chambers without the risk of throwing a bullet at the owner) in his inside pocket, and extra ammo in the pockets of his trousers if his bodyguard is not present to do that. He has very little other significant items, but the collar shirt of his can be replaced with a kevlar vest stored in his house. It has never been done, but it is possible.
Skills and Traits: As a wolf (of the Canis Lupus "breed"), Mr. Brink has a sharper sense of smell than human, albeit not as sharp as "hunting dogs". That is redeemed by his extremely sharp auditory sense, and his great night vision. The claws are present as well, not to mention the teeth. His running skills are also somewhat enhanced.
Now, as the member of the high ranking government, or more like to even be one, he is extremely charismatic, and his good looks have not hindered him in at least too many ways. His skills in taking care of the zone of his are also more than sufficient.
Negative qualities: The personality of Mr. Brink is not exactly the most pleasant kind of them all. He speaks with a constant mockingly sweet tone in his voice, and overuses words such as "dear" and "love" while being not so straightforwardly insulting. You will understand better once you meet him. His speeches to the public are not nearly as "bad" as meeting him in person, which probably has helped him keep his career. As mentioned before, his auditory sense is very strong, so loud noises will very easily distract him. His aim with the revolver is also quite bad: If the target is not standing still or running in a straight line towards or away from him, he will likely need all the five or six shots to wound the target. Zero wasteland survival skills.
Background: Maxwell grew up without a mother, as she died when giving birth to him and his three siblings. He was the "leader" of the small group the siblings formed, something his stepmother could never accomplish, even though she joined the family when the litter was one and a half year old. The little group grew together, until they came into their puberty. It was then when they separated around Novo-Chelyabinsk, and Maxwell has not heard of them since. He felt the urge of joining politics, and started studying. It was not easy for a wolf to use so much time on something like that, but that was the only thing Maxwell was interested in. After a few years of studying, Maxwell filed an application for a job of an assistant in the governmental sector, and managed to grab it due to being a wolf. The government had had to choose between him and and a human of more or less equal skill, and so Maxwell was chosen, to show the public the government is not against the animal-men.

The time Maxwell spent as an assistant were vastly different from the work of his current assistant. Maxwell had to bring coffee to his boss, move papers from point A to point B, and other very simple tasks that were far below what Maxwell would have been capable of. But he was lucky to have such a sharp auditory sense: He overheard his boss speaking into the phone, and clearly stating that he had Maxwell do things he was not supposed to do. Maxwell used this as a weapon against the man, and netted in a higher place in the sector. It did not take awfully long from him to promote again from the paper-worker into an assistant, but this time one of the kind he was supposed to be.

5 years passed, and the counsellor Maxwell had been working for died. She had had no children, so the governmental sector voted for a follower. The voting went on for four rounds, before Maxwell managed to gain the majority of the votes. He had already developed his personality, and even though many did not want him to have such power due to that, he eventually got the support, and was seated as the Counsellor of Power Distribution. He chose to keep the bodyguard that had served his boss, and took the best paper-worker as his assistant. (She also happened to look good to his eye)
Other:He is hated disliked by a great deal of male animal-men due to him using so much time to look good, while others need to work, and then females adore him, making it harder for the "honest worker" to find a mate.

Two mini CS's for his assistant and bodyguard NPC's will now follow

I will finish this as soon as I have time. Finished. If there are any changes to be made, please do notify me. Also, how do they choose their counsellors? Some kind of an election? Info received.

Work well done... at least I hope so. Wish I got the typos as well. Would you kindly PM me the rest if there are any to find?
Also, if someone wants to for some reason adopt the bodyguard or assistant, it is fine by me. Just finish their CS up to the actual RP standards and show it to me beforehand, okay? (If they are accepted in, that is)

It's allright for the most part (loads of missing letter typos though). They government type there can't be described as democracy, as ordinary people there can't vote. The power and influence is inherited by the children of previous rulers and ministers, but in rare ocassions, if someone bright enough would try to join the government and proof themselves as worthy, they might get accepted, after the vote held inside the bunker, by the guys from government.

Regarding the missing letter typos, I have to write with a laptop with a horrible keyboard. I'll try my best to fix them once I continue the work. And many thanks for the info once again!

I presume it is ready now. Waiting for others.
And I had forgotten a detail from the assistant mini-CS. Well, it is there now.

Well, I might reread it and spot something wrong, but as of now, I can see nothing bad about it.

May I join this Roleplay? If so....

    Name: - Leni Barkhorn
    Age: - 20
    Gender: - Female
    Race: - Human
    Appearance: -

    Profession: - Navigator
    Items: - Weapons:

Dragunova (SVD) with standard 7N14 rounds (15 rounds total with 5 per magazine)
One 9 inch collapse Kukri knife
One 7 inch fixed blade combat knife
    One Machete
One compound crossbow with 15 barbed hunting bolts
    2 flash grenades
    --------------------------
    Survival Items
1 heavy duty ALICE Pack (A somewhat large pack that has many pockets large and small)
Ammo vest that includes ammo pouches (See Image)
    light kevlar vest
    Binoculars
    Machete sheath
Canned food (About 12 cans that = weeks worth of canned food)
    dried meat
Cammel Pack (A water-pouch backpack that has a tube that you drink from, very convenient)
    Flask
    A pack of ciguretes
    ---------------------------

Skills and Traits: - High reflexes, very aware of surroundings, very nimble and fast. Can easily free run with gear, is not a brainy person for the most part, but when it comes to any firearm, she knows her shit. Ok in the skills of CQC (Close Quarters Combat). She has a lot of common sense and a critical thinker. Typical survival skills of a Navigator(like living in the Wasteland, dealing with anomlies ect.), but her greatest strength is that she never misses when she fires a gun.

Negative qualities: - Leni suffers from plenty from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and will sometimes will have flashbacks that can be triggered by a series of smells and/or visual cues. She is not very skilled in archery, doesn't know the first thing of farming, and only knows that basics around any advanced tech. Very direct about problems and challenges authority when she thinks she is right about something, no matter their stature or experience. Leni has developed a somewhat "Fuck You" attitude towards some people, but mostly those who don't agree with her. She also is a heavy smoker/drinker.

Background: - Her mother had died just after Leni's birth, and sadly her father, who had loved his wife very much, blamed the death on her. She was constantly physically and mentally abused, yet she always fought back. She understood eventually that her mothers death was not her fault and what her father was doing to her was wrong. Eventually she ran from her home after her drunk father attempted to stab her with a kitchen knife. After a month of wandering the underground streets of Novochel, she collapsed of starvation. Leni awoke to find she was in a bed of someones house. A Navigator who had just returned from an exploration had found her lying near his house and had decided to take her in. His name was Oleg Rodya, and he made Leni his pupil. She was taught all about the Wasteland and what laid outside Novochel, both above ground and below. She was taught how to survive on her own and most importantly, how to fight. She was trained vigorously by Oleg in CQC to be a practical fighter that uses her surroundings to her fighting. In other words, to fight dirty. She also recieve special lessons on sharpshooting, but only did a few practice shots due to the expensive ammunition, so she was taught to use her crossbow more often despite haveing a natural talent with firearms. By the time she was 18, she was a skilled expert at the craft and the role of being a Navigator. Oleg would take her on expeditions and they shared many travels together...

Until one day.... Leni and Oleg were on a exploration outside of the of the Main Entrance of Novochel. There purpose was to identify a new area of anomalies and confirm there existence. As they got closer to the suspected area, everything was dead silent, as if all the sound had been swallowed up. Suddenly a disgusting humanoid mutant burst from a pile of rubble near by and before either of them could blink, the strange creature lunged onto Oleg, slamming its arms through his torso, then ripping him in half while letting out a blood curdling roar. Leni can't remember what happened after that. She woke up in the bed of her masters house with fellow Navigator next to her. He said that she had limped back to the defense outpost covered in blood and cuts mumbling something in audible before collapsing. When they sent another team to investigate what had happened to Oleg, they found a haunting scene of gore, not being able to identify which was the mutant and which was Oleg. Whatever had happened had left a huge scare running down her back. She now continues her career as a Navigator, but always haunted by the image of her masters death..
    Other: Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.................
Ok I think that covers it.
