Background: Jason's parents were full time medics,a couple trying to provide a ray of hope in this dark underground world. Armed with a small clinic,a small set of government supplies, and a compassion for the wounded and dying. The inhabited areas were always full of sickly or dying patients, although the clinic helped whoever they could. That is....until they expected their first son. Not willing to risk the wife of his wife and future son,the father applied to be moved to a government medical facility. With his record as a doctor approved the family was moved and in a matter of months the small clinic was but a forgotten memory. The father worked long hours into the night to insure his wife's safe delivery. How was he to know that the path he took to ensure her life.....would only end it. Only at the end of his shift was he informed of her death and his child's birth. " Her heart just wasn't strong enough" the doctors said. With tears in his eyes he blamed himself for her death. From that day,he swore he would never again allow a life to die without doing all that he could. When Jason turned 5 his father had moved them once more out of the government area and to his clinic as he began to train Jason in the medical arts. As the years went by,Jason was taught everything from stitching a wound to changing bandages. Humans,Anthros, anyone who walked into their clinic, their was Jason at the ready as his father's nurse. Now a twenty year old man,Jason has passed his medical exam with flying colors as he is now a full time doctor. With his son now a man,it was time to give him two very important gifts. The first, his mother's golden pocket watch and the second a small black leather book with a metal lock. " My son,as a nurse and a medic. We see death every day and fight it to ensure a single life may live. This battle has hardened the hearts of greater men than you or I. I ask you to take this book...and right down the name of every life you cannot save." Jason's father says as tears begin to fill his eyes. " Do this not as a punishment to you,but a reminder. A reminder that a doctor who feels nothing for the death of his patient,is dead himself."With his father's blessings Jason leaves the clinic, to help thoses in need and to improve his abilities as a doctor.
