The world won't end on the 21st of December because the it should've ended 13 months ago. The Mayan calendar doesn't count leap years, and when Julius Caeser changed the calendar, the Mayan calendar was bumped off kilter. Also, the the Mayan calendar doesn't even end on the 21st, it changes. The Mayans predicted that it would be a new era and one of their gods would walk the Earth in human form, and the only reason people think the world will end is because a Yale professor in the 50's mentioned that the changing of the calendar might bring up on us the end of the world.
