The Mayan's were right...to some extent. On December 21st a super massive solar flare penetrated the Earth's atmosphere, and knocked out global power. Credit information was lost, stock markets around the globe collapsed, and the government didn't know how to handle the chaos. The Solar Flare also left vast amounts of radiant energy lingering in the atmoshpere, energy which supercharged protons far beneath the Earth's crust and caused the core of the Earth to become supercharged. In the early days of Earth's birth, our planet was a ball of molten lava, uninhabital to man. It was becoming that way again. Mankind faced extinction, and standing face to face with death, the brightest minds of men convened, and they gave us a technology which ended the era as we knew it, and began an entirley new era characterized by the mass exodus and colonization of mankind to the extents of our solar system. It made us gods.
The technology had been in development for many years, but under under the threat of extermination were the nations of men willing to put aside thier differences to fund resources into the program. In return, they created something that carried us to the stars. A fusion Drive which could achieve FTL, or faster then light, by warping space around it, creating a stable wormhole which could spit you out at the other end. Racing against time, mankind built five arcs, space ships of biblical porportions. They would carry a portion of humanity safley away from the destructive Earth, to perhaps Mars or another planet within our Solar System which we could terraform and create for us an Eden, a paradise, or a new Earth. What we didn't expect however was the abundant radiant energy left in the surrounding space would supercharge the wormhole, and propel us not to mars, Jupiter, or even pluto, but rather far beyond the reaches of our solar system into uncharted space. Into the void.
We live now in a world constructed entirley by man. All human civilization exists either in orbital stations, or as domes constructed on the faces of large rogue asteroids wandering in the great, empty void. We build artifical gravity wells on the asteroids to create atmospheres, we use machines to gernerate oxygen, and the only thing that keeps each asteroid from tumbling off into space is the delicate gravitational pull emmited from the surrounding asteroids. We manufacture everything to keep us alive. It takes more resources and energy to keep our species alive then we can produce. It's only a matter of time before we deplete what little resources we have, and mankind dwindles until it is no more.
No man alive has ever seen an ocean, has ever stood in the light of a sunset, or has ever seen the green foilage of a plant. Earth has become little more then a pleasent dream, and the hopes of our continued survival lay in the hands of whatever force governs nature.
Current Situation:
We stay alive by harvesting what little resources the asteroids we call home can offer. Strict population control laws are in place, prohibiting any family to have more then a single child, if any at all. Children are a rarity, and when this generation passes away the generation following us will only be 1/4 of our numbers, and there are only 20,000 of us left. As it stands, no one expects our species, humans, to live another 10 years. Because in ten years, we will have depleted our precious asteroids, and the energy that it takes to sustain us cannot itself be sustained. However, there is good news. A rogue asteroid is tumbling through space, only a few days distance from the small asteroid cluster we call home. Scientists predict there are enough resources on the asteroid to sustain us for another twenty five years, and so small teams of skilled crews have been sent out in an attempt to 'reel' the astroid in, or bring it close enough to our little cluster to be captured by our gravity wells.

Okay, so it's a little rought draft of an idea i have for an RP, but the idea is we live in a cluster of asteroids far in deep space. There are no observable planets (or even stars) in any direction. Basically, the last humans are living off borrowed time. Basically, in the RP i'll introduce some elaborate plot for us to save man-kind.
By the Way, there are only 5 spots open. These are the roles within our 'crew'.
