She rushed over to him and grabbed the photo from the ground as quickly as she could. Nobody was to touch her work. It was the only thing she had. She took a step back and looked over to the creature, then back to the photo she held in her hand. The boy, reading a book. She held the photo in front of him. "Are you.. him?" she raised an eyebrow. He couldn't have been, she knew that he didn't know about this world, but it was worth a test, anyhow.
All I ever lead to is chaos.

If, after we have recognized intuitively a number of simple truths, we wish to draw any inference from them, it is useful to run them over in a continuous and uninterrupted act of thought, to reflect upon their relations to one another, and to grasp together distinctly a number of these propositions so far as is possible at the same time. For this is a way of making our knowledge much more certain, and of greatly increasing the power of the mind.

We ought to give the whole of our attention to the most insignificant and most easily mastered facts, and remain a long time in contemplation of them until we are accustomed to behold the truth clearly and distinctly.

The Meditator reasons that he need only find some reason to doubt his present opinions in order to prompt him to seek sturdier foundations for his knowledge. Rather than doubt every one of his opinions individually, he reasons that he might cast them all into doubt if he can doubt the foundations and basic principles upon which his opinions are founded.

He looked at the photo, then to the girl. Then back to the photo. "I'm not sure what you mean. This...is a picture of me." He shook his head. "Where'd you get this? And where are we?"

He handed the photo back to her. "Why do you have a photo of me?"

We be the colors of the mad and the wicked,
We be bad, we be brickit with the 24-hour sign.
Shower my habits while you dine like rabbits
With the crunchy, crunchy carrots, that's chicken.
    Gotta have it superfast.

Her eyes widened as she took the photo from the boy and carefully folded it back, ribonning it once more. She sighed. "How did you get here? Do you know who I am?"

He thought about her question. How did he get here? He wasn't even sure where here was. He looked around again, then at the ceiling. He pointed up. "I fell." He said. She was strange. All this nonsense about this photo of him. It was odd and stalkerish. He shook his head. "No, but clearly you know who I am." He said, motioning at the folded photo.

"I think I do but you can't be him because he's not you because he doesn't know how to get here, so you're not him." she raised an eyebrow. "That makes no sense." she mumbled, turning around. "You can't be him because.. because he isn't you. But you can be him if you don't know who you are in my view." she was clearly having a monologue, and she wasn't even facing him. She spoke quickly. Her words weren't even meant for him to hear them, because now she was just trying to figure this out. Mumbling and walking around, she got a spark.

"What's the last thing you were doing before you woke up in my room?"

"Um...I...I don't know. You mean, before I fell? I guess...I was walking down the street, and there was a door. And..." James looked up at her. "Wait, why am I telling you this? I don't even know your name!" He looked around. "And I still don't know where this place is." James threw his hands up. "First, you tell me who you are." He demanded, pointing his finger at her on the last three words.

"Name? I don't have one." she smirked. She dragged her fingers through her hair. "Trust me, sweetie, if I knew who I was I'd be long gone. I'm nobody. I don't have an identity. That's why I live here. This is the place I've been born and the only thing I know about my life is that I have to fold these pictures and put ribbons on them, pictures of this boy that would appear to be you. I see what you do everyday, in another world, in a parallel one." she sighed. "Do you know what parallel means? That they never meet. So how come you got here, you tell me."

She looked him in the eye. "The only thing I know about myself is that I ought to be staying here to do this work but I don't know why and how I got here. I've been here for as long as I've known. I haven't grown old, I haven't grown bigger, I haven't changed anything and I don't need to rest like you do. There isn't anything more that I can tell you about me except that I'm trapped here because I can't go anywhere else. I don't know of any place except this room and what's after that door over there. And that's the most boring thing you will ever see, if you ask me."

She took a deep breath and raised her eyebrows. "Now you see?"
