What if I told you that your entire life has been a lie?
That right now as you live, there are hundreds of things living alongside you.
Things that want you and the rest of the human race dead.
What would you do?
How would you react?
Well I for one, would be pissed.
I for one, would want answers.
I for one would want to do something.
This role play is a modern fantasy, suddenly the everyday life of your character is destroyed when suddenly they learn that life on Earth isn't so lonely as they once thought. Fae, Undead, Gods, Demons, monsters of all sorts live hiding in plain sight. What you have learned may never be shared with anyone who doesn't already know of the Things that Bump in the Dark.
This is going to be a huge mix of all mythologies, all stories and all kinds of adventures. The role play will feature you, an everyday person who is suddenly forced to adventure to... who knows what! This role play will be really directed by the players, depending on your actions and what you want, we could fight a coven of vampires, be tricked by fae, attacked by daemons or demons, be sent on fetch quests for gods, who knows! This is your adventure, you're the star and I'm merely the director. You can create any character you want, but with some conditions, look at the Character Creation section. I will be PMing people about certain things that I only want them to know, so make sure you can receive PMs. All standard rules apply. Other than that here are some base rules.
1. Don't Godmod.
NOTE: You can edit posts guys, if someone complains, edit your post, and if you're fast enough, or if I'm feeling nice, I'll let it slide. Otherwise, strike system. Three of them and you're out.
2. At least when you are travelling please don't post one liners, battles are a different story though, they can be shorter posts.
NOTE: Okay guys you can edit posts.
3. I am the GM, and I will not be having a character in this game, I will be controlling all NPCs.
(Controlling, you can introduce NPCs in your posts, and control them for minor movements, but other than that try to mess around with them too much.)
4. During fights DON'T post multiple times.. you can only make a single move in between each time the GM posts.
NOTE: Again check the How to Play Section.
5. When new people join they will start at the same level as the lowest levelled person. This is for balancing purposes.
6. Everyone will have a posting order. The GM will then make the post resulting in everyone's actions. For more info on the posting order see the How to Play Section.
7. Fun is optional. Playing is recommended.
Creating a Character:
There are four base rules in making a character:
1. They are human. If you want to roll a non-human PM your idea and I'll gladly see how we can fit it into the role play.
2. They are an average person. What does that mean? Well the average person is not a combat ready, mythology nut that will instantly be able to slay hundreds of goblins. They are usually out of shape, and lazy, and not interested in the myths or epic fantasy. NOTE: You can make slightly above average people, more info on that below.
3. No Mary Sues! This is part of rule two, but still be realistic, everyone has flaws.
NOTE: You can only make one character, as always you can PM me and ask to be able to make more.
What follows is what to fill out. Please PM me your character sheets and I'll tell you to make any changes if needed.
NAME: Your character's name.
LVL: Everyone will start at Level 0, at Level 1 you will gain 1 skill point, you can then post PM about what you want to add that skill point to, if you want to save it, PM telling me that. Later on when you level will be much the same, except you also gain some HP, SP, and maybe depending on the situation MP.
HP: Your health, this hits zero, you die, yes you die, end of game make a new character.
MP: The amount of magic you can do, everyone starts with none, and as the story goes on you may gain some points and some spells.
BIO: A short or long, description of who your character is and how they act. One important thing you have to add is the first monster/fairy/demon/god they encountered and what happened.
APPEARANCE: Be it, picture (preferred) or description, I'm fine with either.
SKILLS: We are about to get complicated. Okay, so every character is allowed a total of 10 skill points. You can then make up any skill you want, that you're charterer might have (remember rule number two, you are not making combat ready people, but that does not mean they can't have some skill in firearms, or swords.) Skills should be as broad as possible, don't put Monkey Style of Kung-Fu, put Martial Arts. Then you rank the skills.
RANK F: Being horrible. WORTH: -2 Skill Points. RANK E: Being bad. WORTH: -1 Skill Points. RANK D: Being below normal. WORTH: 1 Skill Points. RANK C: Being normal. WORTH: 2 Skill Points. RANK B: Being above average. WORTH: 3 Skill Points. RANK A: Being adept. WORTH: 4 Skill Points. RANK S: Being divine. WORTH: 5 Skill Points.
Adding a "+" is 0.5 costs points, and "-" costs -0.5 points.
Now hold up, before you start making skills let me explain. If you give yourself a RANK E skill, then that means it cost you -1 point. Giving you a total of 11 points. Then you give yourself a rank B skill, that costs you 3 points. You now have 8 points. Then you give yourself a rank C+, that costs you 2.5 points, now you have 5.5 points. You get me? You can only give -5 points, so in total you have 15 points at your disposal, not much eh? Too bad, remember be broad.
POWERS: Your powers, they come from your skills, only I can make POWERS, everyone will start with one power.
SP/PSYCHOSIS/SCAR: Now, for another unique part of the role play, what are SPs? They are Sanity Points, well what are those? Have you ever played Eternal Darkness or The Hunt or even the Call of Cthulhu? Well let's just say that fighting monsters all day and night does things to your mind. When you encounter one of these things, well you gain a Sanity Point, when you hit you're max, well let's just say you go a little (very) insane. Then you gain a Scar and Psychosis. What are those, sigh, you're not very bright are you? This is going to take a while.
SCAR: A scar is what drove you insane, what added that final point to your metre that drove you beyond the edge? Well be glad because now, you're immune to that! Yep that's your scar.
PSYCHOSIS: Well, this is what happens because of your SCAR, you gain well a little tick inside of you that makes you a little bit different. You may gain auditory hallucinations! A power object fixation! Or even just mommy issues. Who knows, it will most likely relate to the situation around you though, so look out!
NOTE: You don't start with these, you gain them, I'll give them to you, and I'll also give you Sanity Points. Don't argue about them, if I give you them you have them. This is based of the Hunt a fantastic table top rpg you should all try.
ITEMS: Leave this blank for now, when you PM your character I'll tell you what to put into each slot.
I know this is a lot but please if you have any questions at feel free to PM me. Master CSs will be posted into a separate forum and will be managed by me, a.k.a. I'll post them and add any weapons or skills you want/gain.
Well then how to you play? First of all there are two different modes of play, Travel Mode and Combat Mode.
Travel Mode:
Let's look at travel mode first. Travel mode should be something that everyone, who has roleplayed before, should know how to do. This is the typical roleplay mode there are no special rules, aside from the normal causal ones, players may still take damage, gain sanity points, find items, and interact however no combat can or will occur. Combat will only occur when you see the following break:

Then you post, feel free to post in whatever format you like. Just keep track of your stats and every thing that happened. There will be a post order drawn up, however it is not an absolute thing, try to follow the order within the first six hours of one of my post going up, after that however feel free to post whenever you want. I will usually make sure to post after everyone has posted, however if an excessive amount of time has gone since my last post, I will simply post again and your character will simply have done nothing in between posts.

David was a average kid, living an average life, when suddenly one day his average life was shattered. On his way home from school one day he was attacked by cat. Well it wasn't an ordinary cat, it was vampire cat, sure that may seem lame, but for David it was one of the most terrifying moment of his life. He nearly lost his life then, but he manged to just escape the grasp of the cat before it killed. Luckily for him only human vampires can turn other creatures into vampires, so David was still human. Although a normal human he was no longer. For the next week David stayed home and glued himself to the computer screen, doing as much research about what had attacked him as possible. When he finally thought it was safe enough, David went to continue his life, slowly over the years, David managed to revert back from a scared on edge crazy person, to a relatively normal extroverted person. Now at the age of 17 David's life is about to get a lot worse.

Awesome, I'll be doing something slightly different than last time. Could you all please pick two of the following types of monster you want your first adventure to be about.

quick question, can I make a human character with the mind and soul that isn't human?
Back, sorta. not gunna be involved in too many RPs for a while, still getting my writing skills back.
My username for every other game is the same as here, mostly playing League of Legends right now
on a good day at least
Note that I collect theme songs like Pokemon. This is really almost like the "Music Draco Likes" tab. If you're a fan of instrumental music, I add stuff all the time!
Maybe I'll add the occasional lyrical song too, but that's more rare.
