Quick question-Has this ever been tried before?

OK, I'm new here, and I'm just curious-I have a new concept that I want to introduce here, and I'm wondering if anything of the sort has been tried here in the past. Is anyone here familiar with NationStates.com? Well, it's a similar concept that I want to see if anyone's interested in-without further ado, I present the concept of the nation-game.

The basic concept of a nation game is that, as opposed to a traditional RP, where each player takes control of a character, in this type of game, each player finds himself in control of a major nation, on a largely first-come-first-serve basis in a certain scenario, in this case, for the trial run I'm planning, the world in 1950. You job as a player is essentially to make your nation prosper as much as possible, whether through economics, diplomacy, or warfare. Now, a few points before I begin, just to elaborate on how this kind of thing will work:

-Nation games are competitive: Your nation can be destroyed by others, don't complain about this if it happens.

-Nation games have strict rules: Both OOC and IC too, I dislike uncivil players.

-Nation games are detailed and technical: Every ingame year in one of these games, you will be asked to fill out a "Turn Post" talking about your nation, and stuff going on inside. On the site I'm from, these are stat-heavy, but I get that such is not something that would be well-received here, and will adjust accordingly.

-Nation games are realistic: No, if you are playing as Belgium, you cannot conquer Russia or outproduce France in GDP

-Nation games are complicated: A good example here are wars-when you get into one, you're asked to write a plan, it doesn't have to be that long, just a basic overview of how you intend to approach the invasion or defense of your nation. The mod will then process the plans and decide on a result.

I get that this isn't really the kind of thing that this forum is about, and there exist other forums where this kind of game is done, but I think that we could set up at least a niche of a few interested players here. If enough people are, I can maybe start a simple game without some of the more complex elements, and see how things go. So, anyone interested?

This happens a lot. In fact, there was a small influx of nation roleplays just recently, or at least in my scope there were. Though, while there are many realistic nation roleplays -from the Spartans in ancient Greece to the Cold War, from a setting right out of Romance of the Three Kingdoms to the modern world today-, there are many fictional nation roleplays as well, mainly fantasy nations vying for supreme control over a continent and interstellar government organizations racing for galactic conquest.

In fact, it is quite prominent enough to warrant a "Guide," explaining in detail how nation roleplay works for both the game's creator and his/her players, or at least the accepted and common idea in this forum. Most Nation RPs take place in the Advanced section due to the need for players that are capable and willing to write larger posts explaining all of their nation's activities in addition to being patient and tolerant of advanced rule-sets common among nation roleplays.

Also permit me to note, but not all people are intolerant of stats. In fact, there are quite a few nation roleplays that utilize a stat-based system to help the game's creator keep things under their control and fair to play with.

While, unfortunately, I may not be able to participate in your nation roleplay as I am already partaking in one, do allow me to post this here for some clarification about nation roleplays in this forum.
I do hope you find some dedicated individuals to participate in your idea.

Actually, seeing as though this forum actually has the concept, I may be going for a more... advanced idea. I hope you can join, but it's completely OK if you can't. Thanks for the help!

I would be interested if this is still going. I have not tried a nation game before but it sounds interesting.

Sadly, no Idea is original. This was taught way back I think in ancient greece....

Yo, I'ma be gone for a bit. School is ending soon, so, I'll be free for the summer. In the meantime, I may or may not get online. If I find myself on more often, I'll erase the stuff in my sig. Anyway, just so you know, I'll be gone 2 weeks+
