The Divison is a rather small group, and as such, doesn't keep much staff on hand, other than what it needs to get the job done. Most of its intel comes through other agencies or its own operatives in the field, so most of its rear-echelon staff is comprised of secretaries to file paperwork and maintenence personnel for the Division's material assets (vehicles, equipment, etc).

This is a rescue mission, pure and simple. Our outpost in Shanghai was attacked, and the operative in charge, Richard Dawes, was taken to a warehouse across town. His fate is unknown, but since his GPS tracker is working, he's presumed alive. Your mission is to recover him before he talks.

The Director would prefer to recover him alive, however, if you cannot achieve this, you are authorized to terminate him to keep him from cracking under pressure.


Unfortunately, there was very little time to prepare for this operation. Because of Dawes' high security clearance and the fact that we believe him to be alive, it is imperative that we get in and get him out--either alive or in a body bag.

RICHARD DAWES

Dawes was transferred to the Shanghai outpost after DOG SPOTTER was compromised back in 2010. His primary region in the area is CLASSIFIED, suffice to say it involved a group of people Whitehall is VERY interested in. He gathered information using a team of local assets, all checked out by Division command beforehand, so we know that it wasn't an internal thing.

Dawes has an extensive intelligence background. We have a list of all the people he worked for, and we still haven't determined who his primary employer was, just that we were damned lucky to get our hands on him. And now someone else is damned lucky to get their hands on him. By his record, he's been trained to resist torture, but since we haven't administered the training ourselves, we don't want to take the chance.

IF you manage to recover him alive, it is vital that you KEEP him that way.

As the local outpost has been compromised, your handler, callsign ECHO, will be communicating with you from our field office in Okinawa. Our satellite communications are good enough that there should be no problems or delay with your feed--any problems should be non-detrimental to the mission at hand.

We will be flying your team directly into Shanghai with all of your chosen gear stowed. We have an arrangement that will allow you to bypass security and customs. You'll be taken wherever you need to go, but you're on your own once you hit the drop-off point. The approach is entirely up to you.

We've spotted patrols around the warehouse, but we haven't watched them long enough to determine how regular they are. You'll want to be careful during the approach and during the execution. The patrols don't seem to be on high alert, looks like they're armed with the old Type 56 rifle, though a few are sporting AK-74s.

We'll have the standard cross-comm system up and running, so you'll have a direct connection to your handler and your team. We have the FRIENDLY FIRE application up and running, so you'll be able to see your team at all times, as long as the equipment's working... that includes the satellite that runs it, unfortunately, so don't go too far underground. Lead-lined bunkers might throw the equipment for a loop.

We'll also add Dawes' tracker to the feed, so that you can see where he's located. Your gear should pick it up easy enough. Good thing we went for man-portable, eh?

We're asking you to take care of this problem as silently as possible, so that the police don't get involved. Once you're done, radio in and there'll be someone there to extract you at the agreed-on extraction point. Try to keep the heat off, okay? Don't need another incident like Paris.

New Enemy: Tanauan Special Forces

Overview:
Tanau is a small (fictional, as far as I know) island in the Pacific, near Indonesia. For an island nation, they have quite an unusual focus on ground forces, and their military training is largely inspired by the Chinese. As such, their armament generally consists of old Chinese weapons, such as the Type 56 assault rifle, but recent relations with the Syndicate have introduced them to "newer" weaponry, which they've begun to adapt on a national scale.

Appearance:
Asian males most resembling Indonesians, wearing dark gray combat fatigues with no tags or patches, tucked into black combat boots. Patrols outside the warehouse wear balaclavas and kevlar vests, personnel inside the warehouse wear fatigue caps or nothing, and no vests. Guards wear pistol belts around their waists, with holstered pistols.

Armament:
Patrols carry Type 56 assault rifles or AK-74s. All personnel equipped with sidearms use the Type 54 pistol.

Training:
Tanauan Special Forces operatives achieve an overall ranking of "competent" as far as training is concerned and use a particularly brutal form of Sanshou when fighting hand-to-hand.

Name: Kichirō Takagi
Nickname: Dragon
Age: 35
Appearance: Kichirō is 5'8" (68"), slender and lean, weighing 160 Lbs. He tousled black hair with a goatee wrapped around his mouth. Kichirō Takagi is considered a handsome man with well-defined facial features. His eyecolor is brown with hints of a green and orange. There are various uniforms the Division team wears depending on their assignment to include civilian attire. For the current operation, the soldiers are wearing a uniform that resembles the North Korean camouflage pattern.

Background: Kichirō is Japanese, born in Okinawa. He served in the Japanese Defense Forces for 12 years before joining the Division. Kichirō served as a member of the Special Boarding Unit (SBU), a Special operations unit of the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Forces. While with the SBU, he attained the rank of Ittō Kaii (Lieutenant O-3). He is familiar with several different weapon systems used by the Japanese military, as well as many more used by other nations of the world specifically the PRC and North Korea. As a teenager, Kichirō began training as a Kensei (Sword) and has studied Shōrin-ryū, an Okinawan martial artform since the age of four. He currently holds the rank of 3rd dan or Yudensha which is equivalent to a 3rd degree black belt.

He served for 12 years before joining The Division. Brian served with the 25th Infantry division (Hawaii) and the 2nd Infantry Division (Korea) before joining SF. He served with the 1st Special Forces Group for the remainder of his time in the Army. He was promoted to Sergeant First Class two years prior to discharge.

He was rose to the rank of Sergent-chef (E-6). He has served with the Division for the past three years.

Appearance: Anton stands 6' 2" tall and weighs 215 Lbs. He has blonde hair and blue eyes. When he was in military service, he cut his hair short, but has since allowed both his hair and his beard to grow out. He can alter his appearance to suit the situation or the operation he is working on. Anton has a tattoo on his left bicep depicting the Golden Eagle of the Swedish Paratroopers. Below the golden eagle is the following word: FALLSKÄRMJÄGARE (Paratrooper). On his right bicep is a tattoo of the Swedish Special Operations Group unit crest. He is also missing the pinkie finger off his left hand.

Background: Anton grew up in Uppsala about 50 Km along the E4 north of Stockholm. His father was a professor of Agrarian Science at the Uppsala University and his mother cared for the house, Anton and his two sisters, Elsa and Klara. When Anton turned 30, his father died of a heart attack on his mother's birthday. That was over three years ago. The death of his father coupled with the constant separation from his family through military service has left him somewhat estranged from his mother and sisters. He doesn't contact them much. In fact, he hasn't seen either of them since his father's funeral.

As a boy, Anton used to enjoy hunting with his father. This was one of the few positive memories Anton has savored from childhood. It was during these hunting trips that he really got to know his father. They bonded during these trips and the boy learned a lot from the older Rapp.

Anton Rapp was drafted into the Swedish Army after his 18th birthday deferred to the summer of 1997. He served initially as an artilleryman with the Swedish Artillery Regiment. This was not exciting enough for Anton. He then went to the Fallskärmsjägarna (Parachute Rangers, FJS) and eventually found his way to the Särskilda Skyddsgruppen (Special Protection Group, SSG). The SSG is the Swedish equivalent to the British 22nd SAS Regiment or the American Delta; specializing in counter terrorism operations. In 2011, the SSG was integrated with the Särskilda Inhämtningsgruppen (Special Reconnaissance Group, SIG) to form the Särskilda Operationsgruppen (Special Operations Group, SOG). In 2012, Anton Rapp left the Swedish SOG with the intention of working for the Division.

While in the military, Anton studied the Swedish Army's version of Taekwondo and recently received his 1st degree black belt in the discipline. While in the SSG, Anton was wounded in action during a fight with Taliban in eastern Afghanistan. He lost his left pinkie finger during the encounter. Anton made it out of Chad uninjured even though he and his comrades were in several firefights during the EUFOR deployment. Anton rose to the rank of Sergeant Major (E-8) in the Swedish Army.

Background: Tony grew up in Matlock, the county seat of Derbyshire in central England. Tony had a difficult time as a young man, getting into fights often and in trouble with the law. He lost his father at the age of 10 and his mother had a difficult time raising the unruly youth. As a teen, Tony was a bad egg and had a dark cloud hanging over his head.

Tony joined the British Army right out of High School. The Military corrected his attitude and he was able to channel his energies in other ways. He got into body-building and excelled physically, tactically, technically and academically in many ways in the military.

Tony served with 2nd Paras and 1st Paras Training Battalion before he was accepted into Special Air Services Selection. He spent six years in SAS with an Air Troop in the 22 SAS Regiment. After leaving the SAS, Tony served with 3rd Para and saw more action in the Middle East.

Tony rose to the rank of Warrant Officer 2 while serving in the British Army. This is equivalent to a company first sergeant. Tony has worked for the Division for the past two years.

Background: Wilhelm grew up in Krefeld, north of Dusseldorf. To Wilhelm Bruch, everything needs to be accomplished with the utmost efficiency. If things are not, he gets annoyed. He enlisted into the Deutsches Heer (German Army) after High School as a Communications specialist. He was assigned to a Panzergrenadier Battalion for his initial term of enlistment. When that term was up, he resigned and attended Parachute training and the 18-month long Long Range Surveillance Training. At the conclusion of this training, he was promoted to Stabsunteroffizier (E-5) and permitted to attend the Bundeswehr Commando Course (Einzelkämpferlehrgang). Willy completed both the Basic and the Advanced Courses and attended the selection process for Kommando Spezialkräfte (Special Forces Command, KSK). This course is four months and generates only an 8 - 10% success rate. Wilhelm completed the course and then began his KSK training, which would take him all over the world training for two and a half years. At the completion of this training, he was promoted to Feldwebel (E-6). At age 25, Willy began his career as a German Kommando. At age 35, he left the German Army at the rank of Stabsfeldwebel (E-8) and joined The Division.

Hey Red, I've posted seven characters, although I'm only going to bring four. The others will be available for follow-on missions. The first four are all of Asian descent. They will be the operators on this mission. I'm going to add equipment below the personnel roster.

I would like to request that we use the Fulton surface-to-air recovery system (STARS) for extracting the target. This means they would have to jump with the suit and recovery balloon. If we use the DZ as the extraction site, then they won't have to carry it anywhere -- only hide it while working their mission.
