    The Blasphemers



    World Description

    The world of Hocanimae, as it is called, is a beautiful world, though it is of much strife. Large forests and mountain ranges canvas the the surface, and is over looked by its two Suns; the smaller blue Creatus and the larger White Sator, during the day, and during the night the three moons of Tressis: the largest pale Inbulimus, the blue Sophos, and the red Uirtute, though they occupy the same skies, but once every year. There are many ancient sites of temples, and structures of unrecorded civilizations that are scattered across the lands, only existing to spark the imagination. Many of the Golden Age cities have crumbled, destroyed by war, but yet few remain. Those that do, however, are extraordinary sights to behold.

    History
    Last of the United: the Primons

    Old Story Teller: It was said the before this age was the Golden age of Hocanimae. An age that lasted a millennium of not a single person raising a weapon to his brethren, but an age that was doomed to end. The end of the Golden age was the birth of serpent of the sea, one of immense size and power. From his birth he embodied all of the hatred in the world, feeding on it like leech, but due to the great peace he was starving and filled with bottomless anger. However he was a clever as he was powerful, and he saw how the world worked, how the smallest pieces interact and held the world together. The serpent went to the smallest island of the Quassus Islands, now called Inlicitus, and he swallowed every ship that neared the island. Why you ask? It's quite simple really, those that are hungry are restless, and the restless become angry, and the angry become violent. The Inlicitans ransacked the nearest island, and so they intern fought back, others in seek of finding a peaceful solution went to them, but were only dragged into the pit of war. It was only inevitable that the world was soon enveloped in the sink of chaos. Nations destroyed each other leaving them broken and disjointed. The last of the true Kings to rule over the Primons told his people to not raise their weapons even when war knocked on their door, the penalty being death. This saw everything for what it was, the world, the chaos, and even more it is said he was the only person to see the serpent and live. And so, the Primons are united today resting on Creatrix, occupying everything west of the Secretio River, while all that remains of everyone else is small towns, tribes, and city-states. Some believe the serpent yet lives, resting at the bottom of the ocean, growing fat of the hatred that lingers.

    The First of the Blasphemers

    The first Blasphemer was a mercenary named Cruor of the Crimson, or more famously The Bringer. On an escort assignment, his entire caravan was killed by a small militia. In his anger he began to slaughter and maim, wishing only for a way to kill the men faster. His anger rose with every man he left bloodied. His desire, and anger rose to overwhelming heights. Finally at the peak of his blood lust he pulled his soul from his body, and it took the form of a wicked scythe. He killed hundreds of men that night, the few that escaped told of how a man became death himself. Cruor was then banished from his own village, labeled Blasphemer for tearing his soul from his chest. From that point on he traveled, always wearing the mask of a skull from the first man he struck down with his scythe, and a black cloak. People say that the man withered away under that cloak, becoming nothing but the bone he displayed. When he would come upon a town, the people left, fearing even the slightest touch.

    At the height of his infamy, Cruor took a pupil, so that his "art" would not die, if the man himself were to perish. Where he found the boy is unknown, but little did he know of what the boy would accomplish. The boy took the name Alux the Blessed. Despite his master the boy refused to kill, instead learning to draw out his soul when his master was in the middle of a bloody rage from the to will protect a small girl in his master's path. His soul taking the form of brilliant broadsword. Not long after that he parted with his master, and Cruor wasn't seen again. It's speculated that he Alux killed him, but often refuted due to the fact that people believed death himself could not possibly perish, he was simply weakened. Upon becoming a man Alux gained his own followers, spreading the way of Anmaensis or Soul Bending.

    The Machaerophorus Marks
    Machaerophorus Marks, or Lunar Marks is a tattoo that is bestowed upon every child upon birth, which they carry through out their lives. The marks indicate what the child will be talented with in terms of skills. There are Seven different marks, each chosen by the pattern of the moons: the Vis Mark, Sapientia Mark, Celerare Mark, Venustatem Mark, Tutamen Mark, Arbytrius Mark, and the Pernicitas Mark
    Vis- Strength. Moons: Inbulimus
    Sapientia- Wisdom. Moons: Sophos
    Celerare- Speed. Moons: Uirtute
    Venustatem- Charisma. Moons: Sophos, Uirtute
    Tutamen- Fortitude. Moons: Inbulimus, Sophos
    Pernicitas- Agility. Moons: Inbulimus, Uirtute
    Arbytrius- Willpower. Moons: Inbulimus, Sophos, Uirtute

    The mark you pick will be your primary skill-type, but not strictly.


    Mystic Seals

    Mystic Seals are a subtype of Soul bending. By using seals, Blasphemers channel their spiritual energy to perform specific tasks like combustion, or other forms of kenesis. They must be physically drawn on a surface to use the seal, a common spot is on the palm of the Blasphemer. Many tattoo the seals, while others prefer to draw the seals upon surrounding surfaces.
    Seal types
    Summoning- This is a difficult and draining seal which calls forth another being or object from a distant area.
    Kenesis- The controlling of present physical elements like rocks or fire. These Seals must have a specific target and action. For example, controlling water, making it perform a whipping motion, or controlling rocks to have them shoot forth.
    Conjuration- The creation and control of non-present elements. It is the same as Kenesis Seals, however the user calls forth the element from nothingness. This advantage comes with the price of a large toll of the soul energy. The most common for of conjuration seal is a Healing seal, where the user creates tissue to heal wounds.


    The Sickness

    Once a Blasphemer first uses their soul as a weapon, they are risking their lives every second they breath. Though once a blasphemers stops useing their weapon it goes back inside the person's body, a piece continually protrudes from the blasphemer's body. This puts it at risk of being pulled out by the surrounding nature's own spiritual energy resulting in instant death.

    Each Lunar mark has specific skills they are naturally more talented at, though they may have other skills, but they will not be as powerful as those who have a mark that is better with said skill.

    Specific Appearance: Zinzie is a tall and lanky man. He has an olive complexion, a messy head full of curly brown hair, and a goofy smile that never seems to go away. His eyes are often half lidded, stuck in an expression that makes him appear to be only slightly aware of his surroundings. He certainly doesn't come off as a brilliant guy. His style of dress is colorful and unorganized. He loves purple, loose fitting clothes, jewelry, and hates shoes.

    Enemies: Not many. Zinzie prides himself on being everyone's friend, whether they like it or not.
    Allies: Everyone he meets.

    Occupation: Potion maker/ apothecary
    Machaerophorus Mark: He doesn't have one (le gasp) due to his undocumented birth.
    Skills: Potion making?

    Key Personality Traits: Zinzie is very friendly, goofy, and often comes off as a complete imbecile. However, he has his uses. He's a skilled potion maker, and seems to know his stuff well enough. He loves to help out, and is easily taken advantage of. He's just a tad bit on the naive side.

    Key Quirks: He seems to have a sort of addiction to a strange concoction that he cooks up. It's likely the cause of his odd personality. More or less, he's on drugs constantly.
    His method of speech is a very odd one. Half the time, one can hardly understand him. He also swears a lot, but not in an aggressive way. It's almost as if the more he swears around you, the more he likes you.

    Weapon of Choice: His potions could be considered weapons, but he'd never use them as such. If fact, he rarely ever uses his potions for himself. He only sells them.
    Armor of Choice: None.



    Bio:
    Little is known about lovable little Zinzie's life. He was born in a mountainous region of the world, in a small cabin. His mother died of illness when he was only 12, and his father was never around to care for him. Because of his poor upbringing, Zinzie has developed a good plenty of issues. He got into potion making when he found an old book about it on a dusty old bookcase. The young boy made his first potion when he was 13. It was an elixir that turned grass orange. Much amused by this, he began a quest to learn more.

    Zinzie left him lonely home and traveled down from the mountains and into a nearby village. It was only then that he realized that if he wanted ingredients for more potions, he'd have to buy them. And he'd need money. So the young boy began working odd jobs until he was eventually known of the town's helpful little waif. He made enough money from his chores to buy what he needed, and slowly as the years passed, he got better. Soon, he was making things that people actually wanted to buy.

    Zinzie now lives in a much bigger town, with his own store full of books, ingredients, and other such things. He'll happily whip up potions for a fee, most of which that are helpful. But every now and then, he likes to make a completely useless one just to amuse himself. He's often seen as a little bit off by the towns people. Some say he's completely nuts.

    Wow, didn't think I'd get someone that fast. Your character is quite simple; one skill, which by the way would be alchemy, so your good ther, and it's seems he's not a Blasphemer. I do like him though, and your app is good. I'm quite curious on how this lovable character is to get mixed up with the Blasphemers that are sure to show up, and how he'll react.

    Armor of Choice: soul bender: flexible gauntlets that redirect force, negating glancing blows and softening direct hits (like absorbing some of the force of the hit if it cannot be avoided or shifting its shape slightly so the blow bounces off like foam or rubber)

    Bio: Zephyr grew up in a small village and always liked hunting and living in the wilderness. He lived in a house just outside the village with his parents who were killed hunting wolves. He is well known in town as a good hunter who as an unorthodox way of hunting using small throwing knives coated with a paralytic agent. He regularly hunts and trades with the townsfolk and merchants he comes across, but often checks in with the town to see if anything needs to be done that he could help with. He is also an experienced fighter who often is asked to spar, and enjoys a good friendly fight once in a while. The only man he's ever killed was a notorious bandit leader.
    Zephyr organized a hastily formed militia when news of raiders came to Basi. He gave the men basic training, and a few days later they were attacked and successfully defeated the bandits. During the battle, Zephyr gave his men a general plan of engagement, pointing out several key points they were to hold or retreat to. He left his men to the main battle, using his hunting skills of stealth to move through the forest and locate the bandit's leader. After assuring himself that taking this one man's life would save countless others, Zephyr dipped a small throwing knife in his special poison, which he named the ten step poison.

    I was calm. My mind was clear. My target was in front of me. The blade, familiar and comforting in my right palm, glistened with the poison. The sounds of swords clashing and men yelling were behind me, but I took little notice. "blade, be true this day." I whispered. "Fly fast and straight to my target, and may he have a painless death." Looking at the leader once more, I recalled my first hunt. The slight wind making leaves dance, the slow movements of my prey, unaware I was but five meters away. Memories mirrored reality. My arm drew back, then launched the blade forward, almost impatient to leave my hand. It strikes the target true, in the center of its chest. It was done.
    One. The elk grunted with the impact and staggered back.
    Two. The man pulls out the knife.
    Three. The elk rears, fearing the unknown pain and its unknown assailant.
    Four. The man, furious at his men for letting someone through the ranks, shouts for a bodyguard and draws his weapon.
    Five. The Elk's hind legs buckle, causing the bulk of its body to crash down.
    Six. Now running for cover, the man staggers to a halt, clutching his chest
    Seven. The elk groans, voicing its pain and struggling to regain its feet.
    Eight. The man vomits, the bile tinged red, and looks up with bleeding, crazed eyes
    Nine. The elk stops moving, its eyes closing for the last time.
    Ten. The man dies kneeling, his eyes still open and bleeding, his mouth tinged red, his followers bewildered.
    The man falls backwards, sprawled with his lower legs pinned under his thighs like a ragdoll. The only evidence visible to the raiders a small hole in his chest, and a small, throwing dart shaped knife no longer than a finger.
    I dropped to my knees, near crying for the man whose life I had just ended. I stared at the small container of my poison on the ground in front of me, gathering my wits and mourning for all the lives lost in this bloody melee. I sealed the container, being careful not to get any on myself lest I suffer the same fate. Nothing walked more than ten steps after being poisoned with this. The battle had ended. The sound of cheering rose from the town. The band of thieves and criminals was a band no more. I had killed their leader. He would never again pillage a town, killing men, taking women as slaves, or burning houses to ash. He would never again breathe or speak. He would never again laugh or cry. I had taken that from him. When the dawn breaks, I gave him a burial. Nobody deserves to have their corpse picked by the crows.

    Alchemy has to do with metals, not potions =P

    But yeah, I think you'll see how he'll fit in later.

    Alchemy is binding ingredients to create potions. Alchemy has barely not a single thing to do with Metalwork.

    This was the definition I found online:

The imagined substance capable of turning other metals into gold was called the philosophers' stone.

    I was thinking of other fantasy games like the elder scrolls when I put it down. I didn't know it could be something else.

    I suppose it could go either way =P I dunno. I like the word apothecary, though. Sounds badass.
