"That can never happen." She said quietly. "They will always follow me wherever i go." She sank down to the floor. "Two by two, Hands of blue." She held up her hands and looked at them in terror. She kept repeating the same words. "Two by two, Hands of blue, Two by two, Hands of blue, Two by two, Hands of blue...." She began to sound hysterical

Patrick knelt down next to her. "What do you want to do then, River?" he asked, not knowing what else to say. "I don't know what you want to do."

She looked up at him from her hands a scared expression on her face. "I dont have a mission." She said simply. Her expression became blank once more.

Patrick was taken aback by what River said, saying that she did not have a mission; she said it in such a way that made it seem like she wanted one, like she needed one. "I don't understand," said Patrick hesitantly. The entire time since he had reunited with her down on Colla IV, she had expressed nothing but a desire to forget what the Empire had done to her, to not be the trained assassin she had been formed into. But now she seemed to need that life. "I thought you wanted to be done with all that."

"River, you need to get away from your past," said Patrick. "Let go of what the Imperials did to you. I know it will be hard and you might not think you can do it, or that you can know anything else, but I promise you can. You may not be able to do it alone but there are lots of doctors and psychologists and others who can help you, River."

"You dont understand!" She pushed him away and stood up. She began to run away from him. She seemed to know kind of where she was going. He would eventually find her sitting on his bed.

Patrick tried to reach out and grab her arm or hand as she got up and ran off, but he did not manage to react quickly enough, and she was gone. He followed her through the hallways of the ship, still in his full battle uniform, as she maneuvered through the corridors and bulkheads and eventually stopped and entered what he knew to be his quarters aboard the Vigilant Resolve. It was locked, he knew, but she had still entered by using the Force he figured. He reached his room and pressed the activation panel, sliding it open to reveal her sitting on his bed. He looked at her and leaned against the doorframe, crossing his arms and looking at her with arched eyebrows as if asking for an explanation.

She giggled liked it was all a game. "I beat you." she teased smiling at him. She was laying on her stomach on the bed with her face in her hands and her feet in the air. She was moving them back and fourth joyfully. Once again her mood deemed to have changed completely. In fact she seemed to have completely forgotten about their conversation, if it could be called that, in the hallway. she rolled over onto he back with her head hanging over the end of the bed. She looked at him.

"This isn't a game, River," said Patrick sternly, not moving from the doorway. He took a deep breath, trying to be patient with his old friend, but it was beginning to get frustrating. He wanted to help her, but more and more he wondered if she even could be helped, or if her mind was too far gone because of what the Imperials did to her. "And what did they do to you?" he murmured quietly.
