She looked at him confused. "What are you talking about Patrick?"

Patrick arched his eyebrows. "You said someone was coming. What is going on?" he asked.

She shrugged and looked around distractedly. "He is." She said again. She touched the wall and giggled.

Deciding she was just playing another one of her games, Patrick nodded down the hallway and said, "C'mon, River, let's go to medical." He started walking, and turned his head to make sure she was following him.

She shook her head again. "No." she looked like she was going to cry. "I dont want to." She said firmly. She tried to hug the wall.

"River you need to," he said firmly. "If you don't you're going to be like this forever, running from ghosts and shadows. Running from your past. Put it behind you. We can help you." He was calm, and confident, and he tried to exude his sincerity as much as possible. He did not know much about the Force, but he knew sensitives could feel emotion, as River had proved already.

She looked at him. "You'll stay with me the entire time?" She asked slowly moving a little closer her muscles primed to flee at the drop of a hat. Her eyes wide and wary.

Here Patrick faced an impasse; he wanted River to feel better, but at the same time he knew he would not be able to stay with her. He had duties to the Republic, to his unit, and to Dela. They would have to part ways, Patrick knew. He wanted to reassure her, but could not lie to her, and he knew that would only make things worse. Sighing reluctantly, Patrick said, "I'm sorry, but I can't. I will as long as I can, but eventually I will have to go."

She looked at him her eyes filling with tears. "Your leaving me?" Her face crumbled and she sunk to the ground. She couldn't believe it. After all this and he was just leaving her? She buried her face in her hands her hair falling over her face and creating a barrier. She felt so lost.

"I'm not leaving you," said Patrick soothingly. Not yet at least. "You have to understand that I have duties to fulfill that I can't ignore. There's still a war going on."
