    MPK: Mechanized Peace Keepers (OOC)

Welcome, you have been secretly selected to take part in global task force know as MPK or Mechanized Peace Keepers. Your task is to keep the world safe through the use of Mechanized Assault Vehicles, but we'll call them Mechs for short. In this alternate universe, the united states devolved the nuclear powered Mech instead of the nuclear bomb, sending two mechs to bring down Japan: Code Names Little Boy(A high speed, light mech) and Fat Man (A heavily armed and armored mech).

Following this war events stayed the same until start of the cold war. In 1947 the Soviet Union developed their first Mech and for 50 years the countries have held regular War Games to decide who's Mechs were better. In 1991, the war games stopped as it became clear Russia was attempting to send vital parts to building Mechs to Cuba. Introducing the Cuban Mecha Crisis, which played out in similar fashion. Today the UN has become a middle man to the construction of Mechs, as it is illegal to do so without their say so. Sadly this hasn't stopped some from building Mechs and the US can no longer stick its neck out to remove them.

That is why YOU are HERE, as a member of MPK you will act on behalf of the UN to remove illegal Mechs any way you can. You have likely heard of this team before, they have had a number of successful missions already but more illegal Mechs are being built every day. We need a second team to be trained and be put in the field as soon as possible. Are you ready to serve this planet in the name of good?

Firstly, would different nations have different specialties in regards to the mechs produced? America mass producing Heavies while, I don't know Europe or something, makes lights? Do all mechs have flight capability, or would their be special 'Air Force' models (if they aren't unique, would they simply be able to go to higher altitudes)? Would others be more suited to naval battles (like Oceania which is mostly a collection of islands) and undersea combat?

Also with illegal Mechs. I would assume they would have something special beyond being a mech, otherwise a nation's own military could handle such a thing (or is no one allowed a mech beyond certain specs outside of the UN?)

Have you ever wondered how fast lightning would go if it didn't zig-zag?

    1. Each Mech is unique to the pilot, its like a suit or a dress as it is tailored specifically for them. Heavy Mechs have no chance of flight, but a light Mech may be equipped with jump jets to launch it skyward. Heavy Mechs have the ability to become sealed and fight under water, but not on it. Illegal mechs are those built by the country themselves or by those who have deep pockets, either way the country they are being built in is defending their production. What makes illegal mechs different is that these ARE mass produced, sacrificing unique features so they may outnumber their opponents.

I hope this statement answers your questions.

    Now on to my Mech

Kind of interested, but have some reservations and questions.

    1) Assuming you know your mecha tropes and genres, will this be a Real Robot or Super Robot genre game?

    2) What kind of weapons are accepted? Given the setting follows an alternate real-world, are more 'real' weapons, such as autocannon, missiles, rockets, etc. more common than lasers, etc. or is it fine to have out-there stuff like beam swords, etc. Or is a mix fine?

    3) Is it going to be all action, or is there going to be a chance to have our characters interact with each other, and develop plots, backgrounds, etc?

    1) Real Robot Genre

    2) Beam weapons (swords/axes/whips) are not accepted, projectile lasers beams (while very heavy and effective against armor) are allowed. Gauss rifles or Rail Guns will require a mech to brace before firing.

    3) As I mentioned above in the [Just a heads up] Section, when not in training there will be moments for character interaction. The same will go for when not in Mech combat. Backgrounds are something I do want everyone to have but not plaster on their CS.

Sounds good to me, I'll post a character up. Might be a bit late in joining in, as I'm moving house next weekend, so my internet might be a little delayed in coming back. However, hopefully you can re-introduce me at some point, if the IC goes up.

    Also, re: 2 -
projectile lasers beams (while very heavy and effective against armor) are allowed.
I'm guessing you mean "Projectiles, Laser Beams" since lasers obviously don't fire projectiles ;-)

Not sure about 'training'... it gives me bad memories of shonen anime, and the endless 'training' that acts as filler there.
I'd be more interested in exploring the world mentioned in the OP, than lots of fighting all the time, and developing what's different compared to our world, and having our character actually experience things and get to know each other. Depends how much it advances the story, I guess.

Don't get me wrong, I like mecha action as much as the next guy, but I also like it to have a lot of depth and involvement. After all, the best mecha anime are good because they have decent stories that are driven by their characters and what they go through. Not just the fights.

All the same, here's my character:

    Name: Nina Wildman
    Age: 27
    Gender: Female
Body Type: Athletic (fit and trim, but not overly muscled.)
    Appearance:

Nina carries an FN-P90 with her in the cockpit, and a Sig-Sauer P-226 as well as a combat knife. Her pilot helmets' visor cover has a red/white checked pattern on it, and her suit also doubles as a G-Suit, due to the speed and agility of the fighter-mode of her mecha.

    MECH:
    Code name: Gryphon
    Class: Medium
    Weaponry:
    2 x 25mm GAU-22/A 4-barrel Gatling Cannon
1 x Multipurpose linked Missile Rack (one system, spread over multiple locations)

    Misc Equipment:
    Quick-reaction Transformation system
Active & Passive IR and Radar Stealth system
Advanced target designation & Sensor systems

    Mech Appearance:

    Mecha Mode

    Fighter Mode

The Gryphon is designed to be a fast-attack commando unit, designed to get rapidly into position and strike hard under the cover of stealth to eliminate a target, or pave the way for heavy units to follow its' lead. The high speed and agility of both of its' modes allow it to be an effective dogfighter, as well as a formidable opponent in mecha mode.
Additionally, the variety of missiles it is able to carry can allow it to engage multiple types of target and perform multiple kinds of mission, as well as its' ability to fly allowing it to perform reconnaissance missions and target designation for fellow units.

I'm going to write my app but why do you have to be under 29? Surely a high class military group would have someone with more experience in the field than people who would have been in the military for around 10 years.

I would also prefer to play someone over 29 - I'm over 30 myself, and I prefer to play characters closer to my age than younger. But I'm not so fussed.
I also considered making my character a catgirl, but thought better of it, since it would've been hard to explain xD

The three weapons/systems limit was extremely restrictive too, and makes the mecha really inflexible.

A Medium Mech wouldn't hurt my feels.

I assure you that the training will be about 5 NPC posts depicting whether you all go through physical training, piloting training, or some sort of psyche training.

The reason I put down 29 is that everyone is going to be new recruits, anyone older would have likely been enlisted and trained already. Besides, How would you feel if a 40 years old pilot started flirting with a 18 year old? O.o
