Night Phase 1 - The Deathly Silence
It had been a quiet day, with many of them doing the same thing they always did. Jorick had searched through the base looking for reading material, with Nat following behind. Now the two were huddled in a corner, with Jorick reading Shakespeare as Nat slept. Looking on at the two through jealous eyes, was Cringer, in all his flamboyance. He was disgusted that Jorick, with all his intelligence, had chosen the sensitive and quiet woman over his much more manly brother. Granted, even if that relationship had happened, the rest of the group still probably wouldn't have approved. As Cringer walked away in a huff, he passed by Rilla and Squee, who were arguing over whether or not the thing that the Soviets had unleashed could ever be stopped.
"I'm telling you, if we had better weaponry, we could kill it," Exclaimed Rilla, forgetting that the creature had easily shrugged off the entire nuclear arsenal of the US as if they were pebbles. "I doubt it, most likely any future attempts to attack it will fail miserably. Even if we knew how to kill it, we'd still be unable to communicate with any of our allies on Earth." Squee, however mad she was at the moment, was still happy to have someone to debate politics with. She had watched countless people die during the evacuation and exodus to XK Masada, which had given her a pessimistic outlook on life. She was tired of fighting, and just wanted to give up on life.
As the day continued, a few people began to congregate, and set about to play their daily card game. TP dealt the cards to Svenn, Darkmatter, KnightShade, and Koka respectively. As the game continued on into the night, with Koka leaving with the majority of the money, words were exchanged and cigars smoked. TP was the last one to leave, stumbling towards the room he shared with Bea and Nargle.

Rilla was awoken from a very pleasant dream involving Christie by a large shuffling outside his room. Getting up to investigate, he stumbled around in the dark, looking for a light switch. As he finally found the switch, a hand gripped his arm, threw him across the room, and he crashed into the wall. As he tried to get up, a foot slammed into his rib cage, and his assailant grabbed him by the neck and squeezed. Instinctively, his hands flew up to his neck, struggling to free himself from the assailant's grip. In response, the assailant tightened their grip, causing Rilla to struggle even more frantically. The last words to escape from his lips were "Why?".
The figure stopped outside the room containing his first sinner, and lowered his head to pray. "Our father, thou art in Heaven, please allow me to bring holy retribution to this sinner. He has defiled the young and for that, he must face your wrath. Amen." Moving into the room, the figure caught sight of the sinner, TP. Covering TP's mouth with his hand, the figure spoke, as TP's eyes flew open. "Get up, sinner. The time of judgement is at hand." Complying, TP slowly got up, and raised his hands to symbolize his surrender. The figure then proceeded to lead TP out of the room, and didn't speak again until the pair had reached the empty poker room. "Do you know why you are here?" The figure asked. "Is it because of the children?" TP asked, with fear in his voice. "You are correct," The figure responded. "And now you must pay for your sins." With those words spoken, the figure pulled out a six-shot revolver and fired one shot in between TP's eyes, killing him.
While the others slept, Jorick was awake. He had Nat huddled up next to him sleeping, as he read the copy of The Necronomicon he had brought with him from Earth. Back home, he'd been a scholar with a thirst for knowledge. Now, he was just another refugee. At least I have Nat, he thought as he absentmindedly patted the woman's head, which made her purr. Getting out of the bed, he made the quick walk to the cafeteria for a snack. After rummaging through the refrigerator, he found a snack and ate it. As he headed back to the room, he noticed a shadow dart out of sight. Turning around, he scanned the hallway for the shadow's owner. As he was about to give up, he saw the owner. The person looked human and was wearing tattered yellow clothes. A mask concealed the person's face, and that was the first thing Jorick commented on. "Take off the mask." After Jorick made his request, the figure looked at him and responded. "As you wish." As the figure removed the mask, Jorick's face turned into one of pure terror. Backing away speechless, Jorick broke into a run, and stumbled several times on the way back to the room. Meanwhile, in another room, a trio assembled. One of them was standing, while the other two were on their knees, chanting.

As everyone milled around eating breakfast, a scream broke the silence. When everyone rushed to the source of the commotion, they found Bea pressing Nargle's body into her own, to keep her from looking at TP's corpse. As they all stared at the corpse, Aragorn came rushing in with more bad news. "Um, guys. You may want to see this." Aragorn proceeded to lead everyone to Rilla's room, where they saw his body, devoid of life, lying against the wall. "I found him like this when I came to see if he was getting breakfast." Aragorn explained to the group.
