Suffering from a major language barrier, Máel often communicates through his Soul Presence or animated displays with his entire body. Fiercely protective of Dr. Lafayette, the fiery red temper of the "Librarian's assistant" and unparalleled bravery shows through in the heat of battle and day-to-day life.
Bio:
In her adventuring days, Dr. Lafayette used her family's fortune to explore every nook and cranny of the world. From the tallest mountain to the lowest trench, no stone went unturned and no cavern left unexplored. She collected many great and mysterious artifacts along the way, both of great historical and magical importance. Of all her journeys, one to the northern isles of Scotland turned up her most fascinating find.
An ancient claymore encased in glacial ice, frozen in time. Upon nearing, the Doctor was shocked to sense a wavelength. Before anyone in the exploration team could react, the ice burst as the ancient sword transformed into a young (naked) warrior, still with warpaint smeared onto his body. After much confusion and hysteria from the young Celt, who had been locked in his icy prison for well over two thousand years, and the archaeology team, being confronted by a nude blast-from-the-bast, Vivian was able to mediate between the group by way of her Soul Presence, an ability the warrior coincidentally shared.
Máel Máedóc was his name and that was all he could remember. His tribe and original meister were all long-gone, as was his culture. The last bastion of an ancient heritage, it was only by Dr. Vivian Lafayette's morale coaching (and providing of suitable clothing) that Máel did not suffer culture shock. Soon after, the Celt proved his desire to defend his freer after the group was attacked by a Druid.
Later, Vivian became the librarian of the Academy, swelling the shelves with many of her own literary works on history and magic, as well as decorating the library with many of her own treasures. With the help of her now weapon, Máel, who either entertains the good kids or intimidates the bad ones, Vivian is able to run a pretty tight ship.
