Nope, AI, and yes, they would, which is why Simbel fakes being insane and talking to himself all the time and also why he calls himself 'vas Nothing', because he doesn't identify with the rest of the Quarians anymore. He's kind of like admiral Qwib-Qwib.

Wow. Well, better I think for Simbel to pretend she's talking with an advanced V.I. An advanced V.I. can simulate emotion and can even act independently for the most part. She could chat with her A.I. for weeks on end and nobody would be the wiser unless the A.I. did something completely spontaneous and out of character.

Mind you, if anybody ever realizes Simbel's talking to an actual veritable A.I. there's going to be some serious consequences. We're talking life imprisonment/death penalty terms of punishment if I remember correctly.

I'm curious now though, where is the Blue Box? Artificial Intelligences don't fit easily into pocket sized devices and they can't copy themselves into a new host body without rebooting their personalities. The smallest artificial intelligence ever displayed in Mass Effect is the size of a broom closet.

I don't have much time to look over anything. Simbel looks OK from my brief overview.

Though one would wonder where he got an AI from and how advanced exactly is it? (what can it do?)

I have a few more questions but nothing as important.

Yes, and that's what makes it so exciting!

As for the blue box thing... I honestly hadn't thought about that... Chatting with our DM now.

Well at the moment my options seem to be:
Fuck you she fits on the suit.
She's somewhere else in the galaxy but I keep contact via Quantum Entanglement
Simbel carries her around in over sized lugages.

That or it's a VI. I'd honestly go with option 3.

*grins* Well, the GM could also wave away the Blue Box's size for story purposes.

The other scary part though... is that an actual Artificial Intelligence aboard basically invalidates any other software engineers except in circumstances where communication with the Artificial Intelligence back aboard ship is somehow blocked. An Artificial Intelligence can hack dozens of systems, writing literally millions of lines of code simultaneously and could out hack Teepock, Kimberly and Simbul all working together.

Edi was highly underutilized in Mass Effect 3 and for some reason I never understood the Reapers never tried jamming her control signal which would have stopped her avatar cold. (Remember, Edi was aboard the Normandy. The robot body she used was remote controlled by good old fashioned Wi-Fi)

Edit: I actually like the luggage concept. He could state it's a highly customized, advanced mainframe of his own design and keep it in his quarters. Then, if the group somehow comes to trust the A.I. (which could be quite an eventful and interesting process) the A.I. could then be directly wired to the Polaris' computer core.

Yeah, but then there's the fact that Simbel and Keo would both probably be KILLED if Keo decided to use her capacities. And as she would be extremely light sized, she would mainly use her computer power to basically sustain her own existence and run her personality matrix, not hack reapers like EDI or like that closet sized AI in ME1, hack the casinos.

Hey, maybe that's my exit, she isn't a power tool like all other AIs seen before, as such she doesn't need the space.

Edit: Alright, I'll go around with the lugage idea and we'll discuss the details later.

Ooooh, that's logical. You're absolutely correct, with processor and memory limitations, an A.I. would have its metaphorical hands tied.

Then, who knows what would happen if the A.I. were to do something crazy like copy itself into the Polaris' mainframe in order to save the team. Then, with the personality reboot Simbel would have to get to know the A.I. all over again and present an interesting dilemma. Sure the A.I. just saved them... but even if it was trustworthy before it now has a new personality that not even Simbel can vouch for. Do you reward its saving your buttocks with giving it the benefit of the doubt or take the safe secure route and move for deletion?

I think Ava/Eira/Wynter would be better names for our ship's VI, after all, my names for everything else are winter (or at least, polar) linked.. got to carry the theme guys.

Ava derives from Avery, meaning winter elf
Eira means snow in some dialect.
Wynter is just ye olde/girl name way of saying winter apparently.

    Just my two cents.

It would seem that since this was written I have taken on the role of the designer of sexy aliens in advanced nation rps, but it was a lovely compliment all the same.

    I'd vote Eira
Why do you ask what, when the delicious question is when?
