Oh dear! Liches are not at all coherent beings, and are more concerning with ascending to godhood and flaying living things than playing figurehead. So i'm going to reluctantly say no.

It really depends on the person in question whether they go nuts a lich or not. There are a few perfectly sane and functional Lichs in the D&D even. Rare, true but they do exist, also, what a delicious irony to have the greatest of the undead masquerading as the highest priest in the land, why I can imagine that one would do it simply for amusement.

Characters may only start wars with a good reason- no declaring war on a neighboring Kingdom just because you don’t like them. The only war you can fight without an outright reason is a war for independence, or a holy war against a neighboring power.

@ActRaiser: I wasn't planning on making this an apocalyptic scenario, merely one with political intrigue, trickery, and warfare. I think that we will have issues filling in the positions we have now, and am reluctant to add any more important factions/characters like that. That is not to say, however, that I would not be up for turning this into an apocalyptic scenario; the only real way I can see that happening, though, is if a portal to hell is opened via some super awesome magical ritual, and hordes of blood-thirsty demons start pouring out.

@Raptorman: Good point. We are, however, RPing my personal fantasy universe, so you must expect it to differ from the norm. I will have to consider your proposal... but for now, consider it an "no" to the pope-lich haha.
