Then continue slowly messing around as you need to do new things until you know everything.

Best thing to do in my experience is exactly what Herzinth said. Just mess around with things. YOu will figure out the main features soon enough and get a hang for it. Then you can make some really neat stuff. Heck, my sig took like 5 minutes haha.
