Bio:
Yumi was born in to a troupe of traveling performers and magic users on the run from the Templars. They had fled to Termina in hopes of finding refuge, but Father Thallus had just started to demand the religious tolerance law be abolished when they arrived. Fearing that the Mayor would cave in under the stress of Father Thallus, they began traveling Termina, putting on shows, helping those in need, and generally trying to live a free life. But, When Yumi was born, she was very sick. She was hardly ever awake and barely drank any milk, and her cries were very weak and raspy. Her parents feared for her life, seeking help in every town they visited to no avail. Just as all seemed lost, a strange old woman appeared one night before her parents. She told them of a shrine to the Great Fairies that had yet to be destroyed by the Templars, and of the Fairy that could heal their daughter.... At a price. Her parents thanked the stranger and set off the find the Shrine the woman spoke of, journeying deep in to Woodfall to find it. And find it they did, amongst the thick growth of the swamp and the killer insects that tried to stop them at every turn. Her parents entered the spring, finding it somehow completely intact and pristine as the day the first Link found it. They were amazed by the innumerable fairies that floated around them, giggling and singing songs to them. The begged for help, for the fairies to heal their daughter and give her a chance at life.
The fairies converged, and became a Great Fairy. The beautiful woman took pity on Yumi's parents, and agreed to heal their daughter... At the price of her becoming a servant to the Great Fairies when she came of age. Her parents agreed so that their daughter may live to see that day, and the Great Fairy not only healed her, but bestowed upon her the power to heal others like she had been healed. Her parents thanked the Fairy and took their leave, happy to have a daughter that would live to see the world. They raised her as well as they could while moving around to keep from being found by Templars. She was taught the values of morality and raised to believe that the Golden Goddesses would return one day, and that the Templars would pay for their crimes. Yumi showed her potential with magic very early in her life, just as the Fairy had told her parents. They would often times find her conjuring small orbs of light and calling them fairies, only to be scolded for doing so. They were worried she would be targeted by the Templars if she was found practicing magic, even in Termina. So, Yumi grew up using her powers in secret, healing small animals poisoned by the smog from the factories in Termina.
But it wasn't to be. A few of the missionaries sent by Father Thallus discovered Yumi's magical ability, and they targeted her family. Due to the religious tolerance law in Termina, there wasn't anything they could do physically to harm her or her family, but their preaching of a 'demon child' reached to the larger settlements and towns, leaving her parents few places to go to perform without discrimination. Her parents soon began to loose money, unable to perform their larger shows because they were shunned from larger towns, and Yumi couldn't help but blame herself. She ran away from 'home' a few months ago, headed to the Great Bay. She had no real plan in mind, simply to get far away from her parents so they could start making a living again. Yumi found it surprisingly easy to get in to towns now that she wasn't with the 'evil troupe', but getting food was tricky. She tried performing magic for rupees, barely making enough money to survive on the streets. One day, she heard of the Pirates of the great bay, of their all-woman society. She figured it would be better to try her luck joining them than to continue to barely etch out an existence on her own. She sought out the pirates and, with a show of her magic ability and a heart-jerking life story, was allowed entrance to the pirate fortress. She's currently making a living as a healer in a small, unused building.
