personally I even thought a Gaeltacht was just a myth... like unicorns...
Anyway, I was born and raised in the Netherlands, so my first language is dutch.
but in all fairness, Me, and pretty much everyone else in my generation, has been bombarded with English from a very young age.
It has even gotten to the point where you are considered 'strange', if you don't have at leased a decent understanding of the English language.
but, I am sure a lot of European countries are getting more and more like that.
The Internet really does connect the world after all, and those nasty language barriers really can get in the way.

Haha yeah, my moms side is all Irish scottish but my dads from the south pacific, they met in london though, both have perfect english, I learned Gaelic though, and the Gaeltacht is real haha, its just small pockets of the country that are totally Irish, road signs are bi-lingual here even outside of Gaeltacht but in the Gaeltacht there are lots of just Gaelic signs and language, we have tv stations and radio in Gaelic too but its like 90% english speaking here, its not really used day to day outside of Gaeltachts, a lot of Irish people dont really learn it, Im sure Dutch is used much more, youre right about english being an "expected" language in europe, even my polish friends have very good english, but I guess the further east you go the less english there is since most countries there are newer to the EuroZOne!!

I nearly died in shock.... sites can actually load properly
