Name: Garrett Jagger,
"The Butcher"
Age: Twenty-seven
Ability: None, however Garrett is a skilled individual regardless; he specializes in hand-to-hand combat and the use of melee weapons - particularly knives - hence his nickname. He carries numerous knives on his person, ranging from kitchenware to cleavers and military blades, so much so that the distinct sound of clanking metal can be heard with each step.
Appearance: Garrett is a tall individual standing at six feet and four inches; he weighs over two hundred pounds - not counting his hidden arsenal - and possesses a build composed of lean muscle. By anyone's standards Garrett is physically a fairly handsome man and he clearly keeps after himself well enough, aside from his ever-present five o' clock shadow. His facial hair by far not being the only thing marring his appearance, Garrett's chest and arms are littered in jagged scars of numerous shapes and sizes - many endured in untold fights, others self-inflicted for his sick pleasure. On the other hand, his face has very few visible marks or scars. Garrett's expressions are rarely kind and out of those that are most are not truly sincere, he is a man of few words that speaks through action and gaze - his bright green eyes may otherwise be considered attractive, but they are filled with malice and ill intent.
Garrett's normal attire is a three piece black suit and matching leather gloves that no doubt help conceal a weapon of some sort. He is very rarely seen wearing anything else unless if necessary - perhaps because getting every piece of clothing specially tailored to hold untold amounts of knives for untold reasons gets rather pricey and equally as suspicious.
Brief biography: They considered him a monstrosity among man, truly no better than those "evolved", the only thing that set them apart was that Garrett did not possess any special powers to assist him. However, that was fortunate; even as a "normal" human being he was extremely dangerous, he lacked any morals or conscience and seemed willing to stop at nothing to achieve what he desired most. But as the saying goes, "fight fire with fire". No better thing to hunt down a monster than another monster.
From a young age Garrett never learned to distinguish pain from pleasure and alongside his natural fearlessness he became a little daredevil, always jumping headfirst into danger and almost always on purpose. At some point his parents stopped counting the cuts and bruises and broken bones he received. They had always scolded him and warned him that what he did was bad, wrong, but every time he looked in the mirror and admired his scars he couldn't help but think that they were wrong. They only said these things because they cared about him and didn't want him to get hurt, but as the years passed he grew worse and their words only became a nudge further into his rebelliousness. Going to school he often got into fights and dragged a lot of people down with him when he got hurt, but he was most infamous as the "bully hunter". As a boy Garrett was small and wore glasses, though not skinny nor did he possess any other traits that could be deemed "geeky" - in fact, even then he was handsome. But perhaps that was just another reason for them to target him. Regardless, they did and perhaps only because he let them. Drawing them in, he eventually ended up fighting them. The first time he won it was considered luck, the second and third times not so much. The fourth time they all came at him with a vengeance.
So he cut them all down.
In the end the police got involved and those kids, the supposed bullies, they were so messed up, so
brutalized that it was difficult to tell who had truly been the prey and who had been the predator. But it was clear enough; they said he was disgusting and that something was wrong with his head. He needed "help".
They called him a monster.
But their words did not hurt him, their glares did not frighten him. In fact, he realized that it was quite the other way around. They were the ones that feared him and knowing that exhilarated him beyond belief, in the end it all played into his twisted ego. Garrett eventually developed a god complex of sorts; he did not merely see people as inferior beings, he did not see them as human at all, because to him they were nothing but animals - prey. He became the bully, he gave into the image of the monster that they feared. To satisfy himself he brought pain to others, both physically and psychologically. He made them bleed, he made them cry, and most of all he made them beg; he liked when they begged and because he was kind he would always let them go if they did. Even a monster has to have some sense of honor.
Every hated him in the end, including his parents, the people he thought were always supposed to care about him. To others it may have sounded sad, the fact that he had no family, no friends, no allies at all. But that was how Garrett liked it, because he liked danger. He liked the paranoia, knowing that everyone was against him. He enjoyed a good challenge, because it was always best when
he got hurt. It was no secret that he was not only sadistic, but also masochist, that he pleasured himself to his own pain and the pain of others. Sometimes he would have to hurt himself in order to get off, a little cut here and there. Other times, when he was with a woman, he would have them hit him and hit him as hard as they possibly could. It was
amazing. Sometimes he would get a little too into it and end up hurting them, too, but never too bad. However, one time things went too far and he "somehow" ended up stabbing a prostitute to death while they were having sex. That was the first time, but not the last time he would kill. But in the end, maybe because he was just lucky, but he was never caught. A few times he was suspected, but they always put another guy behind bars in his place. It was almost like God was watching over him, making sure he was safe.
In the end, God must have been a pretty sadistic bastard himself. Garrett didn't mind.
Years passed and Garrett tried numerous times to settle down. He went to a university, got a job, an apartment, and eventually a solid girlfriend. Although he tried his best to hold in his urges, sometimes he would let a little bit of it out and end up hurting her - but not much, she said she "kind of liked it". He ended up fessing up and telling her about his fetishes, and although unsure at first she gave him what he desired. Again, things got out of hand and he ended up hitting her. He apologized and they made up, but in his chest he felt the foreign sensation of
emotion; he broke up with her and vented his feelings in solitude, where others were safe from him. Guilt and regrets now? It was much too late for those, especially since he was starting to feel it again; that exhilaration.
Maybe he was just suicidal, maybe he thought it would be best if someone could eventually end his existence - but he would never let them - and so he purposely went after an "evolved human" he had heard quite a few rumors about. This was like the perfect prey for a person like him, a predator with a liking for challenges. He just might become addicted to it, hunting down dangerous people like this. He tracked the mutant down and their confrontation turned sour, it ended up a big fight that hurt a hell of a lot more than Garrett had been originally expecting. But somehow, in the end, he was victorious. Bloody and broken, most probably on the verge of death, yet somehow he felt so damn
good.
That was when they found him, these men in black that had been tracking down the same prey as him. They didn't know what had happened, but they told him he was lucky to have survived being attacked by such a dangerous individual. They wondered how he survived and so he ended up demonstrating what he was capable of - in return they told him a little more about evolved humans and what their own goal was, hoping to pique his interest. Needless to say, they did. At the time they could not accept him as an official agent for obvious reasons, but over the two years he worked for them Garrett proved that he was a useful asset, albeit just a
little more volatile than they were expecting.
Most recently he has been sent to New York alongside a certain
Jack Berns to hunt down evolved humans in the city.
Personality: It is difficult to even consider Garrett human, the arch-nemesis of any person with a conscience. Masochistic, sadistic, the very definition of fearless, and with a twisted addiction to combat for the sake of his own pleasure; he sees life and his own existence as nothing more than a dangerous yet pleasantly enjoyable game of cat and mouse. He hunts down his prey and plays with them, exhilarated by their fear, turned on when they cower and beg, and even more so when they fight back - but in the end the best part is mostly definitely devouring them while they still squirm. Garrett appears to be a laid-back and irreverent individual at first glance, but this scruffy exterior hides his brutal, impulsive, excessively-violent personality and a lethally-short temper. However, despite his aggression and obvious blood lust in battle, Garrett possesses a feral cunning and has a knack for quickly exploiting any opening his opponent reveals. In addition, he is blunt, sarcastic, and quite sadistic, revealing a psychotic grin whenever he becomes overly excited.
