"Jack I need you up on the bridge." The commander called through a private intercom. He stood on a podium overlooking the glass below which was a scenery of Earth both in beauty and chaos. Nations that had allied themselves with the commander had found themselves stripped of some rights but given many perks. There was a rumor going around on the surface that there may even be a cure for cancer for the nation that shows the most loyalty. The commander could not confirm or deny such rumors when questioned by the media which he allowed to visit the flagship on occasion.
Drop pods could be seen entering the atmosphere and shining brightly as their outer armor went ablaze from the friction. It seemed that nations with weaker governments and financial structure jumped into the commaders arms when it came to his negotiations. While nations such as the U.S. and much of Europe had sought to keep their power in the hands of officials they trusted. He could understand that. People tend to side with those they trust. He just had to break that trust.
Jack was in his quarters eating when he heard the call to come yo the bridge. He got up sorrowfully cause he was starving and walked out heading towards the bridge. It took him 15 minutes to get there cause he kept having to stop when people saluted him and salute back. He finally went through the door onto the bridge and stood at attention saluting the commander, "Sir, reporting on the bridge as requited, sir." He said and held his salute waiting for the commander to salute back or acknowledge him so he could drop the salute.
"Come one in." Commander Joel said without turning to face the lieutenant. "There's a matter I wish to discuss with you. I hope you've eaten your fill because you're going on a trip."
Jack dropped his salute and walked up next to the commander, he sighed as his commander mentioned food, "I was actually just about to start eating when I got the call to come up here commander." He said while his stomach let out a small growl. "Where am I going and who am I killing." He said knowing there was a reason he was being sent.
"No specific people this time just a set of oil rigs of the coast of Qatar. They're an oil rich nation and they believe they can do rather well without us because of it. I want you to go in with some Sparrows and take them down. That should provide a little scare into them looking for other means of fueling their economy." The commander drag his finger across a touch screen platform in front of his and the glass below was now displaying satellite images. It zoomed in off the coast of Qatar on six large oil rigs. "Also," The commander stated as he dragged the image into the country of Iran. "I'll see that you get a little bit of funds in your war account if you take out a nuclear plant to the north. It's nuclear so don't blow it up, just make it loose functionality."
*sparrows- a mix between a carrier and a fighter. Can carry up to six soldiers, three on either side. Armed with a chain gun and bombs can be placed on sides in place of troops.
*war account-offered to upper members of the commander's troops. In situations where an airstike or something of the sort is too costly you can bypass the lock if you can afford the losses. Example call in a pick up in a highly guarded zone you have to pay for the ship and the life insurance of the pilot if it is shot down. If it is not shot down you pay the pilot a smaller fee for risking his life.
*Qatar- a middle eastern peninsula surrounded mostly by the Persian Gulf.
Jack listened to what he was supposed to do and what he was going after, "Yes, sir. When am I leaving, and is the team already in place or do I pick the people to accompany me on this mission." he said glad to be able to get out and do something. He had been sitting around waiting for a mission that would allow him to leave. He had been inactive for awhile and felt almost out of practice even though he went to the firing range every day and the training grounds to hone his skills. "Sir, if there is nothing else. May I go back to my quarter's and prepare for the mission." he asked wanting to get some food in him before he had to leave for the mission.
"Yes go ahead and prepare also pull the personal log and select your team. It's just going to be basic soldiers on this mission, no task force. There will be three Sparrows two are armed with bombs, one fully and the other only on one side so that means you can bring up to nine people including yourself." Commander Joel changed the glass back to its original view of Earth. "Also they've increased their defenses by the rigs after Iraq attempted a stunt the other day to impress us. They failed obviously. Don't do the same."
Jack saluted the commander, "Yes sir, thank you sir." he said and did an about face. He walked back to his quarters and ate his food. When he was done he went and got on his computer and pulled up the battle log and searched for his team. He chose the 9 people he was allowed to based on their skill and qualifications that he thought would be the best thing based on what the mission required. He grabbed a glass of water and walked out going to find the people and tell them they were going on a mission.
