Middle Earth Roleplay

With the recent release of the hobbit film, Middle Earth has been in many peoples minds. It's my proposition that we role play it!

I'll be taking on the role of Gandalf, and Istari of middle earth, guiding you on an epic adventure. It should be medium sized, 3-5 players. Once I see a bit of interest, about 3-5 players worth, I'll be opening the OOC, where you can make a character and a bit of story will be revealed (but not too much!)

Hm, so I assume that means like...1-2 paragraphs with good grammar and spelling?

Exactly, you can't get the feel of middle earth right with one liners.

AWEOME~! I do not know much about Middle Earth and stuff like that, but I think I have the gist of it. I'll do some research later. Consider me interested.

I might suggest tabbing the Encyclopedia of Arda, a massive Wiki for all things Middle Earth for any time you find yourself confused on a certain subject.

On a side note, the setting should be around 2950's of the Third Age, which is right before the Hobbit.

I'm a bit iffy on using Gandalf, but I will tentatively lend my interest to this.

The problem is that Gandalf would be the only Wizard to do an adventure such as this... I may switch to an Elf lord though, as tend to be versed in lore, yet not as... Fatherly? as Gandalf.

Well, since this all non-canon in the first place, why not just invent another one as an original character? There are a lot of unused colors for Wizards, and having another Istar won't absolutely devastate continuity.

It's not like anyone's going to get on your dick about it, so long as you avoid making him too similar to the other established wizards. If you're going to go the route of making another wizard, he needs to be his own character.

Then again, if being well-versed in lore and fatherly are the most important qualities of this character, then perhaps it doesn't need to be a wizard at all, and you're better off just making an original character like that Elven lord.
