A General Interest Check for 1x1 Rps

I’ve recently returned after a short hiatus and wish to start up a few more RPs during my winter break. I’m an advanced writer looking for another High Casual to Advance writer. I am extremely flexible, and only have a few things I do not care to do. I like to think that I don't expect a lot from my partners, but I do want something I can work with. (Don't let the wall of text or "demands" scare you away, I come off a lot harder to get along with then what I am.) Three paragraphs is a minimum for the average post. [I'm cool with less as long as it is occasional. I understand that dialogue is more difficult to write long passages for without getting redundant or dry.]

I'd like a reply at least once every three days or so, which is what I will be doing in return. I can post more frequently, especially when I am particularly inspired, but I would rather you take your time to develop a post that is worth reading then just giving me quantity quickly. Spelling and grammar are fairly big on my list. I’m not a total Nazi about it, but please at least use a spell check and proof your work. I know mistakes happen and I can appreciate that, but I do not wish to read something that was thrown together haphazardly and in text speech. I hope this isn’t coming across too strict, I just expect the same effort out of you that I put in.

I don’t currently have any active threads, but please feel free to search my past posts if you want to see my style. I try to match my partners post length, so if you write me a novel of a post, I’ll write you a sequel in return. That being said, I do tend to go overboard with my introductory posts, but don’t feel obligated to do the same if it is not your style.

I do wish to play female characters as I have yet to figure out how to play males that aren’t NPCs effectively or accurately. However, I would be up to doing multiple characters if you can get me interested enough. [I have been pushing myself as of recently to try out more male characters, but only with plots that interest me extremely.]

[A small disclaimer on this; I do enjoy sci-fi as long it doesn’t involve long time space travel or multiple galaxies. They tend to make my brain go fuzzy and my eyes to glaze over. This goes to Old Western settings too.]

> Steam punk, gothic, cyberpunk, etc.

> Dark villains POV
[I personally love to play dark, twisted, broken characters as it gives room for character development and great plot options, but it isn’t a must.]

[I am looking for this a lot for the moment.]

> Grit.
[I love for a story to be raw and unrefined. If the situation calls for violence or mature material, bring it on, as long as it’s done in good taste and serves a viable purpose, I have very little restraints.]

> Plot in general.
[Please do not make me the only one to develop the plot. I have to problems with helping moving things along, especially when one character is supposed to know something the other doesn’t, but I do not want someone to make me write the whole story while their posts are only them reacting.]

The Plots/Settings I have:
[Please note that all of these plots are loose for a reason. I like my partner to add in their own take and create a mutual world for the characters to live in.]

The apocalypse.

The Rapture.

2012.

World War Three.

Everyone had their own theories on how it would come about. When diseases were mentioned, zombies or something like the Black Plague usually came to mind. No one ever imagined it would be like this. Thousands, millions of people infected with some kind of virus. Doctors and scientists alike tried to find a cure, but it was hopeless. The virus kept mutating, changing itself so that any treatments were ineffective. Soon, nearly all of humanity had been wiped out, leaving nothing but empty cities. The earth became a barren wasteland; vegetation suffered, and in turn, so did the wildlife.

But it wasn't completely empty.

Some humans survived the virus. No one knew why then, and they still don't now. Instead of being killed, these survivors were affected differently by the virus. They became...different, somehow. Running faster, seeing further, jumping higher. It was like their senses had been completely revitalized. Some rejected this change, others accepted it to the point of believing they were better for it.

And then there are those who didn't come into contact with the virus at all. They had many names: Purebloods, the Clean Ones, even the Blessed. Over the years, though, they have come together and formed one group. The Exterminators.

Using high-tech weapons they found lying around cities, these uninfected people donned gas masks in order to prevent being "tainted", as they call it, and began to slaughter anyone with the virus. No mercy. No restraint.

Nowadays, any survivors are in hiding, hoping that they are never found. The Exterminators occupy a large army base in the wasteland that has been refurnished with various defenses since its abandonment. To venture into one of their cities is considered suicide for any infected being.

But things are changing. The animals are returning, forming packs between common species. They've been mutated, driven mad by the virus, and will attack anything on sight. And the survivors, or Mutated, are beginning to group themselves together as well. There is a faction that has been causing a stir among them. United under a blue flag with some indistinguishable symbol on it, the Reverent believe themselves to be above all, superior to the "Old World" humans now that they have enhanced abilities. They are amassing themselves, and intend to fight back.

War is threatening to take the wasteland.

Now, this one is a lot less developed, but it’s based on The Twilight Zone’s “It’s the Good Life”. It’s in a small town where someone, in the show it was a little boy, who has the ability to change, warp, and control everything with his mind. The RP would be about living in that constant fear and how everyone has to be extremely nice to him if they don’t want to disappear.

World War Three never brought about the end of the world through nuclear or biological warfare. It was a bloody ten years that ended in a prosperous and peaceful albeit tension filled time. True capitalism replaced all other forms of economic structures and for a brief three years, it was widely successful. Soon, however, the rich pulled away from the middle class who fought to separate themselves from the lowest and most poverty-stricken. Social Darwinism and Lockian ideals were once again twisted to defend and justify the growing separate classes.

Borders were developed as a physical reminder to the separation of high society and those who struggled to eat. Life was easy and coveted for the few rich. Lavish “charity” and social events were the highlights and socialites became a career once again. Money might not be able to buy happiness, unless it came in a pill or needle. The middle class worked, striving to one day became one of the elite in hopes of attaining the lavish lifestyle promised to those with the next big thing. But the poor just struggled to either become a poster child for a charity organization for free handouts or to stay alive from the many gangs or just plain starvation.

Not everyone was taking it sitting down, however. A resistance is building and talks of revolution fill the streets. The rich increase security but keep of the façade that everything will work out in their favor as they have rightful earned their positions. The middle class are split and tensions rise highest among them as conflicting ideals appear. Families are torn apart by the oppressed and the trusting. The poor have nothing to lose and are willing to risk it all. This was not only a redistribution of money. It was a redistribution of power. It was the beginning of the end.

On April 6, 2019, the greatest calamity known to man struck the earth. This is its story.

November 5, 2018:
The legendary scientist Dr. Richard Lier gave a speech about his new venture, the "Burst" project. It was designed to genetically modify humanity to become a super race. It would unlock our full potential; making us as strong as machines, as smart as computers, enabling us to sprint around the earth without ever becoming tired. It would even save us from all known forms of disease. AIDS, Multiple Sclerosis, even Cancer- all destroyed and weeded out. He was received to thundering applause.

December 19, 2019:
The Burst project has finally been completed, and is currently being tested. Promising results are being shown. The world marvels in glory as it is about to enter a new age of man.

January 17, 2020:
Strange abnormalities are found within the Burst code. It is taken under extreme inspection. Strange homicides are reported. The ones found seem to be almost rabid. All of the murders are horrendous and all of the perpetrators have the Burst gene within them. Tests are being performed, but there is no conclusive evidence. Burst research is allowed to continue.

March 1, 2020:
Burst goes airborne. It is spread all over the world, to combat disease of every kind and to bring man into the Golden Ages. People shout for joy, barely able to contain themselves. The partying is a global phenomenon, akin to New York on New Year's Eve.

March 20, 2020
Many of the ones who came into contact with the Burst are sick within their beds. Extreme agony befalls them. Only a very few, less than .000001 percent of the world, is left untouched.

April 6, 2020:
All of those afflicted by the Burst code suddenly rise as one, and get up. Surprised family members are quickly dismembered, then killed and eaten. Many plants and animals have been affected by the Burst as well, making them mean, killing machines. However, those who are brave and strong enough to defeat them are rewarded with food that has everything the body needs to stay healthy.

This is the story of the Burst code. A few months later, this broadcast was recorded and sent out on all radio frequencies.

My name is Allie. I am an Eraser, one who destroys the mutants affected by the Burst and looks for a way to reverse this calamity. I can offer food, shelter, and survival to any who receive this message. Please, come. Together, we can stop this calamity and restore Earth to what it once was. If you wish to survive, come to Yucca Mountain, Nevada, coordinates:

The Falls View Fryer, a name feared and well known within the city. No less than 13 murders were on his name. Most of them lowly drug dealers or petty criminals hiding amongst the deserted, poor alleys around town. The victims were found brutalized. Usually beaten with a meat tenderizer or other blunt objects. Their bodies afterwards displayed within the danks of Falls View in inhumane, brutal manners often involving barbed wire and electricity. It took years before they eventually found the man's name. The break-through was caused by a female detective, who at a late night had stumbled onto the man during his act. She managed to get a clear view off of his face and when he wanted to approach her she shot him, the man fled.
They managed to trace the serial killer's family and their first instinct told them to interrogate his mother. The woman sat with the mother, trying to coax the answers out of her until a black-out delved the building into darkness. When finally the black-out was fixed the serial killer's mother was no longer alive. Foam on her mouth and a pained look on her face decided it to be the work of poison.
Afterwards the poison was found on the body of the female detective and she was taken in for murder herself.

She resisted, knowing that she hadn't murdered the old lady and fled. At this point she was hunted by the police and took refuge around various places before she stumbled into the bowels of Falls View.
These parts of Falls View were not only the hunting ground of the serial killer but was also a putrid pit of violence, drugs and prostitution.

Dossiers say that it was the detective who killed the old woman but this isn't correct. As she flees, trying to redeem her name she is cornered by the very man who she had hunted down for years. Instead of killing her in an act of revenge for his mother and the years of hunting he hides her from the cops and explains that he knows that it wasn't her handiwork and that they both have a common enemy.

Any remake of a classic fairytale in a more horror or gritty style is always an option with me. I love taking the premises behind the classics and morphing them into something original and suspense filled. In particular I am quite fond of Peter Pan (I have a semi-plot for this but I warn you it is VERY rough), Alice in Wonderland, Red Riding Hood, or Beauty and the Beast. That being said, I am very open to most any fairytale you would like to try.

I am also willing to look at a few literary based pieces. While I do not wish to use actual characters from stories, I do find some of the situations and settings to be a great place for an RP. Some of the pieces I'm particularly open too include Lord of the Flies, Fahrenheit 451, Hunger Games, and anything written by Poe. Feel free to ask about any other book or series as I've likely read it and just have failed to list it.

If nothing here has really grabbed your interest, please feel free to ask about any ideas you had or try to help brainstorm some with me through PMs or the like. I am very flexible when it comes to plots and settings; I just don’t want to be the only one coming up with ideas and moving the plot along. Leave a response here or PM if you’re interested. Hopefully I haven't scared off too many people with the mass of text.

I realized after reading everything that you had barely posted this thread. Apparently, you caught my attention.

I have a lot of interest in the First and 4th Plot ideas that you posted. Both of them sound very interesting and rather intense. I also have some interest in doing a twisted fairytale, either beauty and the beast or Red riding hood. I am also willing to brainstorm other ideas with you And am not afraid of coordinating plots.

I would LOVE to do any sort of twisted fairy tale one! It's not something I've done before, and it's so interesting to me that I think I can give it a great shot!

Also, I have a bit of a non-sparkly, blood-hungry, nocturnal vampire plot. Just a basic idea that we can expand. I've had this plot before, and it worked well with another person, but I had to quit roleplaying for a while, and I would LOVE to bring that plot back again!
