The idea for this came from a series of vivid dreams I had some time ago, so be forewarned. Also, as a note I'll be playing exclusively male for my main but am more than happy if others want to be either themselves. Really, whatever you feel more comfortable and natural writing as is best.
What if somehow, my character had been alive for some time, not as a vampire or a demon or some sort of medical experiment but simply as a relic of something older, and aside from the absence of aging was fairly unspectacular from anyone else. And what if he inhabited a world like our own at the turn of the 20th century, and throughout his long life maintained an estate based on fraud; his "relatives" are paid to play the role and every generation he has to reinvent himself in order to maintain the lifestyle of luxury he's become accustomed too. Despite living with long life, he doesn't understand why he has it and hasn't encountered anyone similar to himself. It doesn't sound that unpleasant, does it?

The frightening thing is, there is something out there that tries to prey on him. It's static and he compares it to walking accidentally into a spiders web; it's usually in places even perfectly mortal people feel uneasy, but while they're immune and oblivious to it except for an unpleasant sensation he literally has to flee for his life to avoid being killed by some nameless horror that inhabits them. Sometimes it takes the form of a person, occasionally a monster, and other times it simply is there in invisible terror. Abandoned places in particular are dangerous, and what exactly it is that threatens him is unknown.
He encounters you, male or female, as an employee of his and enjoys his/her company enough to do something both generous and evil in the form of granting him/her immortality along with him. In the past he felt it would be selfish to do so given the fear he experiences, but lately he's felt more threatened than before by whatever it is trailing after him. Out of that fear he decided to make another person like himself.
The title itself refers to a dilemma towards the end that may present itself to both characters.
Your character could be anybody; either gender and any age. I would only ask that that persons status and occupation be influenced by those factors. PM/reply if interested.
