    GameStop help

Apparently the policy on returning pre-owned games that you bought from them is "Return it within 7 days with receipt for a full refund."

I plan on that, but I can't help but wonder what sort of measures GameStop has to prevent people from "renting" their pre-owned games for free by returning them <7 days later. I'm actually inadvertently "renting" a game like that right now. I plan on beating it, and then returning it in a couple days.

What can I expect? What should I say?

I do hypothesis that they keep track of people who return pre-owned games to prevent such a thing, but I dunno.

I've never rented a game, because I like to do a little bit, play a new game, and then come back to it a month later.

Can't do that with rented games, dawg.

Here they charge an optional extra €3 for game protection insurance so you can break and return it whenever you want, essentially only every paying €3 for a game.
I don't do this though, I mean when games are less €30 I don't mind forking out the cash. I buy most of my games pre owned when they're a couple of months old.
    Recent exceptions included Halo 4

As for returning it, just say it wasn't exactly what you were looking for and that you mistakenly bought it.
Why do you ask what, when the delicious question is when?

Buying pre-owned games is a gold mine. Nothing different except it's been used once or twice before, and it's often half price.

I have a few games that I want to buy that're a month or two old by now. Going to head down and see how many of them I can find pre-owned.

    Thanks.

I'm not returning the game because I'm trying to rip them off or anything. The circumstances are actually a bit odd and annoying.

The game I have is XCOM for the 360. I actually love this game to death, but I got fucked on the price. Before giving my brother $50 to pick it up when he was out, I looked the price up on Amazon and such. It was supposed to be $40 dollars on Amazon and GameStop.com. It's not surprising, since it's sorta unpopular and came out in October. I called the actual store two days before my brother picked it up, and they said they had pre-owned and new copies in stock for 36 and 40 dollars respectively. Needless to say, I was a bit pissed when my brother came home with no change for me and a copy of XCOM with a "Pre-owned $55" sticker on it.

But yeah, luckily you're supposed to be able to return pre-owned games with no penalty. It just feels weird knowing that I'm getting free days to play the game.

By the way, I'm probably going to order it on Amazon for 40 bucks and happily waste my other 10 on fast food.

XCOM had pretty terrible sales for the Xbox, but that's understandable. It's the latest installment in a long run of PC titles.

Mind you, the PC version was amazingly successful, which I think everyone expected.

The only reason I bought the game was because I ran into someone's let's play of the PC version.

The difference between the two is that the Xbox version is sluggish, and I think they stripped out some of the appearance customization to sell as DLC >:|

Either that, or they three people I've seen play it on PC have all gotten a hold of the extra content.

I hope those are the only differences.

I got the game on Wednesday and pretty much played it non-stop since. I'm only not playing it now because I decided I should go to sleep.

    I use steam.

“Enemies of the Imperium, hear me. You have come here to die. The Immortal Emperor is with us and we are invincible. His soldiers will strike you down. His war machines will crush you under their treads. His mighty guns will bring the very sky crashing down upon you. You cannot win. The Emperor has given us his greatest weapon to wield. So make yourselves ready. We are the Imperial Guard, and your doom is upon you. "
