    The Four Elements {OOC}

    > {IC Board} <

    Plot
The four kingdoms that once resided over the lands of Earth have long been forgotten, buried away and written out of history. But four relics remain. Four stones -- an alluring ruby, a dazzling emerald, a shining diamond, and a deep sapphire -- which hold great power, one for each element (fire, earth, air, and water), for those born to wield them.

Four college students at Kelham University in Cheswood, Colorado have no idea their lives are about to change forever. When they stumble across the stones and their keeper, one of their college professors, life gets turned on its head. Their teacher becomes their mentor, and they adjust to having their new-found power over their unique elements. They must flee their normal lives to protect themselves and answer the call of their new-found gift - and burden. Are they really the heirs of kingdoms that aren't supposed to exist anymore? Do the kingdoms still exist? As they travel to discover what is left of their heritage, there will be many enemies to ensure that their gems - and their secrets - never reach the right place.

Currently it's the second week of spring term on campus. The college is in a large suburban area and the the trees are just beginning to get their leaves back as the weather begins to warm up again.

    Rules
    • As this will be on the threads, keep the mature themes to a minimum. All other general site rules apply.
    • Romance and drama are good - IN CHARACTER. If you have a beef with someone OOC, take it to PM's. Drama is a no-go on our board.
    • Post at least a paragraph of interaction/plot continuation. One-liners/having your character off in a corner for multiple posts is no bueno.
    • Good grammar and spelling is important. I won't be a fanatic about it, but spellcheck is always good.

    Other Important Notes

    • Life gets busy. I'm no stranger to this. If you join the thread, I ask that you be patient when life comes knocking. I have times where I might not be able to reply for a couple days at a time, and I can understand when people need time away. I want this to be a long-term thread, and patience with dealing with each others' time-frames is essential.
    • On that note, if you're going to be away for an extended period of time (~2 days+), please let us know. We can always adjust IC or we could even just have a group hiatus.

    Name: Leah Journey Mason

    Age: 21

    Gender: Female

    Element: Fire

    Appearance:

(Click for larger image and source)

Leah stands at 5'9", athletic and slim – but to the point of nearly gangly. Fairly pale, doesn’t usually tan easily (doesn't burn easily either though). Long, straight, auburn hair. Hazel eyes. Three piercings on each ear. She has a linear diagonal scar on her left knee from surgery after being hurt in a basketball game when she was 14. Generally doesn’t paint her fingernails since she picks at them when she’s nervous/frustrated. She always has her silver heart ring on her right hand, a gift from her brother, no matter her outfit.

    Background:
Raised primarily by her father after her mother left when she was young, Leah Mason was born in a small town in South Dakota and raised with her older brother (3 years difference), Kyle. Following her father’s job, they tended to move often, changing schools each time. She kept a sense of continuity though through basketball, joining her schools’ club or team each year. Leah moved to Kelham in her second year of college in order to study business and marketing. It wasn’t her first choice in schools by far, but it was an hour drive from home from their most recent move and had a few decent business classes, and it allowed her father to better support Kyle’s enrollment at Stanford. Leah’s grades are average, hovering around B’s, as she was accepted to the women’s basketball team in her second term and devotes a good portion of her energy there.

    Name
    Professor Jasper Rayne
(Jasper: Treasurer/A type of stone. Rayne: Advice/Counsel)

    Age
    39

    Gender
    Male

    Keeper
The Stone Keeper. Teaches Advanced Classical Mythology at Kelham.

    Appearance

5'11. Deceptively strong and swift. Has light scratch scars on his torso from his training as a boy. Tattoo of the all-seeing eye on the inside of his left wrist.

    Background
Jasper knew his job since he was a little boy growing up in Kansas. His father showed him the jewels and taught him what he needed to know in order to protect them. Jasper was taught how to use whatever was around him to stop any assailants and, at the same time, how to come across as normal. One of the most important things he was taught was what to teach the gem's true owners. Jasper's father was very careful in explaining to him that the true owners may not show up for many lifetimes. But Jasper enjoyed the lessons on how to teach and so he went to college to become a teacher.

While at college, he found he enjoyed mythology and resolved to be a teacher of that subject. Also while at college, he met a girl who became his girlfriend of two years. At some point, she found out she was pregnant with his child. She left him and fled to another state. Jasper had sense and skill enough to find out what happened to his baby. He learned his son is happily living with a foster family in New Jersey. One day, Jasper knew he'd find the boy and teach him what he knew so the family legacy may live on.

When his father passed away months before Jasper graduated, he told Jasper to watch the gems for clues of what to do next. Jasper stared at them for hours, days, weeks on end, but never got an idea. He completed schooling and acquired a job at a nondescript university in Colorado. Jasper has been teaching there for over ten years and never got over the fact that it was lucky they had an opening for such an odd subject matter.

    Name: Aden Colene

    Age: 19

    Gender: Male

    Element/Keeper: Water

    Appearance:

Description: Aden Colene stands at 5'10" and weighs about 140 pounds. He is Caucasian with honey blond hair but his most striking feature is his crystal blue eyes that girls always fawned over since he was young. He is a play boy and arrogant at time. An asshole at others. He usually wears shorts and a t-shirt and hoodie nearly all year round while usually seen, when not surrounded by or hitting on girls, a small group of friends while he carries his skateboard. He is slender than the average but not thin and very athletic though he is almost never serious enough for people to actually know what he is capable of.

Background: Aden was born and raised in a split family divorced before he could even remember them together. He lived with his father on the beaches of California usually for one school year then in the snowy mountains of Connecticut with his mother. The travel became second nature to him as both of his parents are wealthy. He learned to surf, skateboard, and snowboard to artistic levels over the years of swapping. Currently, Aden is a up-in coming pro at all three and some people know him as he walks the streets of his college and in his advanced science classes.

It's ok if I post in IC? Maybe we can do a little side dialog until the other "Students" get there.

I'll probably just call you Mass, if that's cool with you.
