" you look eighteen maybe older" Ramona told him shyly. Ramona searched her memory. The first place her mind went was Lionel but there was no way that he could be him. ' always doing the right thing, when have I made the impression of doing the right thing' Ramona thought. Her mind only thought on two people Lionel who was already out of the question and one of the guys that was beating Lionel up. One of the boys who beat him up did have blonde hair and was really tall. Ramona convinced herself that that was the right answer. " Are you one of the guys that beat up my little buddy with blonde hair" Ramona asked almost with angry in her voice.
At this, Lionel collapsed onto his hands and knees in bitter defeat, a brutal beating couldn’t break his spirit…but this? After one year, one of the main things she remembered about him back then was the small stature…her ‘little buddy’. Shaking his head trying to stop himself, he began to mutter, “Why, oh why would I be trying to get you to remember me if I were one of the bad guys…? I want you to play with my hair, I hug onto you at any given chance, same eye and hair colour, asking the same questions from back then…I-I-I—” Suddenly the flood gates opened up, and even though this was extremely disappointing and depressing, he couldn’t stop his outburst of laughter on his knees. This situation was just too strange, and the girl was somehow just too hopeless. Laughing long and hard caused Lionel’s side to cramp up and hurt, so he continued laughing, holding his side and trying not to tear up.
"Oh my god Lionel it really is you" Ramona exclaimed dropping right beside him her hands placing themselves on the side of his face and where he was hurting. " I'm so sorry, I just didn't think it could be you and you left so I didn't think you were ever coming back" Ramona tried to explain. She started giggling herself and couldn't stop once she started. "It's just" Ramona started but was interrupted with giggles. "And you" Ramona kept giggling.
"Don't laugh!" He scolded...while still laughing himself, "I finally hit puberty at age 17, only to come home and not get recognized by my only friend...I think if the situation was slightly different, it'd be ironic entirely." Finally calming down entirely, and pulling Ramona into another tight squeeze, it really was good to be back, "So...I guess I could really be your meister this time then? What sort of weapon are you? Do you think we're compatible?"
Ramona was about to tell him when she suddenly realized something. " Wait a sec, you were twelve a year ago" Ramona said getting her head and a tone of seriousness. So if your seventeen now" That's the minuet Ramona put all the pieces together. " Oh my god, I'm a harlot" Ramona exclaimed putting her face in her hands and shaking her head. " and you and ohhhhhhh I'm totally a harlot" Ramona exclaimed again.
Tilting head in confusion, he set a hand on her shoulder and shook lightly, concern noticeable on his face, "What's wrong? What do you mean 'harlot'? You're saying some strange things now." Getting up finally, he helped her up and guided her to the one room he remembered directions to. As expected, it was somewhat occupied, like last time. "Should we..." Pausing a second, his mouth curled into a good natured smile, "Crawl under the piano and hide from the world? Tell people passing by that we just like relaxing under there?"
"No, I don't think anyone would find that funny. They'd probably just laugh at us" Ramona told him shyly turning back into the Ramona she'd been since he left. She stepped away slightly. " maybe we should just get to class I mean it should be starting soon anyway and I wouldn't want you to be late it's your first day back, you wanna make a good impression and stuff" Ramona tried to offer up shrugging a bit.
"I'm...going to have to ask you to guide me, I haven't been here in such a long time...so, yeah. Help?" Seeing Ramona dismiss his childish suggestion, somehow, even though he had only met her that one time, it felt like the real her was back again. "You know...you still haven't told me what type of weapon you are, and, do you think we're compatible?" He watched her carefully for her reaction, curious at what she thought, "Well, lead on, lead on! We shouldn't be too late for class."
"I'm a Mace, and I change forms one as a chain and another as a staff." Ramona told him smiling a little bit. " I think We would be compadable, I mean we get along so well so why couldn't we work great together......... You know as partners" Ramona said adding the last bit when she thought it sounded more like them as a couple. Ramona led him by the hand towards the class room. They made there way and it wasn't long until they were approaching the classroom.
Looking over at Ramona expectantly, he ran a hand through his hair and coughed a bit into his hand, “Well, ladies first?” One whole year away from everybody suddenly felt like many, especially since most of them wouldn’t recognise him…just like how his friend hadn’t. With this in mind, Lionel was most certainly going to end up depending on Ramona for support.
